Weird Text Message - Ever Have This Happen?

I received a text message from my husband's cell phone today. It said "Yeah i am excited for you guys Chelsea" CB: 567-205-0537

So naturally it made no sense to me, and I texted him back asking "Who's Chelsea?" God knows, we've had enough text message drama lately, I didn't need anymore.

He calls me and says "What are you talking about?" Apparently he didn't sent the text, yet it came up as coming from his phone. So he asked me to send him a reply on THAT weird message to see if it came to his phone. It did.

Next thing we tried was calling the "CB" number on the bottom - I assume it's a "call back" number. When he called he got a message from Verizon saying the call could not be completed. I tried and got dead air.

I did the reverse phone number directory for that CB number and no results come up.

I'm baffled, and my poor DH is flipping out. He said we've had enough crap with suspicious text messages lately and he wants to resolve this - I'd just assume drop it, but he wants his name CLEARED.

Any ideas?????

Call your cellular carrier immediately. It sounds like your husband's phone could have been spoofed.

I know you had issues in the past with the co-worker and text messages, would she be a malicious kind of person who would want to cause more doubt in your mind? Just a thought, I hope I'm totally wrong.

spoof card hubby has one that he gave to our son didn't realize you could text on it at least with ours you can't just phone calls where you can change your voice kinda fun if done in a fun way

Holy crap! That's weird stuff. I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless about this whole thing and they're investigating it. Said they never heard anything like it before - but this spoofing thing - it sure sounds like it could be that. I guess it's a wait-see game right now, but I'll tell you what's disturbing to me - the phone number comes back on a reverse search as VERY nearby to the place where my husband goes out of town to frequently. Leads me to believe this could be someone he knows.

I'm very weirded out, and so is he. I hope we get to the bottom of it quick.

You know Laurie, haven't I had enough of this cell phone madness for one month?

I really believe DH is the innocent one right now, so that's a good thing - but the idea that that phone number is so darned close to where he knows alot of coworkers - well that's almost too odd a coincidence for me to ignore.

The one place I did get a result was whitepages.com.

That led me to the Bloomville, OH landline info. It's sort of hit or miss out there - sometimes you get something, sometimes you don't - and more often than not, you get something like "yeah, we found it, but we're not telling you jack until you cough up a few bucks"
