Wondering if I can bring scissors into the park. I have twin infants and thinking about cutting up their food with a plastic knife is already giving me a headache. I'd love to bring an actual knife, but I know that's likely going to get me stopped at security. So I was thinking about a pair of kitchen scissors. Any insight? We will obviously have a diaper bag and stroller with us.

I'm sure security will confiscate it. It would be considered a weapon.

Can you seriously bring in a pocket knife? That still might be better than a plastic knife.

Sure. My kids have taken them n many times just because they usually have them in their pockets. I suspect I've walked in with one in my purse on occasion too.

This isn't the tsa. A small pair of scissors, heck even kid scissors or sewing scissors would be fine.

I would take a pocket knife. My dh carried his when we went a few Weeks ago and nothing was ever said to him.

Thanks all. I swear I will use whatever implement only for cutting veggies, grapes and uncrustables, no people :)

My son was a little upset at the hockey game (in Tampa) last week when security wouldn't let him enter with a very small pocket knife. He just didn't think about it not being allowed. So security gave him the option to throw it away or go back to the truck to secure it.

In Florida the blade does need to be less than 4 inches to conceal carry. Here is a link.

Wouldn't a pocket knife be unsanitary .

Any food you might get at a quick service place will be easy to cut into pieces with a plastic knife, sit down restaurants will provide a regular knife.

Now... I would like to see you cutting up a grape with kitchen scissors.. :rotfl:

Not if it was new, cleaned, and only used for food. It would be the same as a kitchen knife.

The sell special scissors just for cutting up food for little ones. Kind of like safety scissors but for food. :thumbsup

My DH always carries his. One time at Epcot, the metal clip was on the outside of his pocket, and they saw it at security. They took it and put it in a bag with his name in it at Guest Relations. He picked it up as we were leaving the park.

I would look for sturdy plastic knives so you can throw away after each use as some one could report you for a weapon as you clean between uses at the park. you would need to clean pocket knife between lunch, snack and dinner and evening snack. that could make a lot of cutting

A mom in the restroom rinsing food off of a pocket knife being reported? Really?

I've brought a small kitchen knife in many times (for cutting up apples, etc). I wrap it in a paper towel and stick it in the bottom of my cooler. Never had a problem, but would not be offended or upset if it was ever confiscated.

I use mine for all sorts of stuff. Wipe it off on pants leg before back in my pocket.

I work outdoors/construction and running water is a privilege so at times I eat with out washing my hands and I am still here and kicking.

No need for that use a napkin or your pants

I really think you are over thinking needing a sharper knife. I just wouldn't worry about it at all.
