Ok, I'm very weird about having a lot of blood in my steak. I like my steak cooked medium well (more on the well side but with a teeny bit of pink). If I order a steak med well, will it REALLY be medium well? Do they under/overcook things?

I actually wrote about this very topic in my Dining Reviews of our last trip. We found that what we consider medium-rare here at home was much more on the rare side everywhere we ate in Disney, including Le Cellier. We learned quickly that although we order medium-rare at home, we will always order medium at Disney. I guess the best thing to do is to actually describe just how you want your steak cooked when ordering. Enjoy!

I always order my steaks rare, or medium rare. They have either a little, or a lot of red in them. Personally, I have always gotten what I ordered, not over or under cooked. :goodvibes I would explain to the server exactly how you want it cooked and if it's not to your liking just send it back. We've always had good luck on anything we've sent back (it hasn't been much, and never a steak).

Happy Dining!

We've always loved Le Cellier and usually eat there multiple times on each trip, but they had tons of trouble with my steaks on our last trip a few weeks ago. I also always order a filet cooked medium well. One time it came out definitely medium with lots of pink in it, but since we were with another family, and I didn't want to make a fuss, I choked it down. DH's medium well filet came out cooked perfectly medium well.

Another time, I ordered medium well filet again, and this one was totally well-done and burnt. Barely edible, but once again, I just didn't want to send it back. What would they have done at that point? I guess cooked a brand new steak, which is what I should have done!

My son ordered the child's steak twice cooked medium welll, and his came out fine. I just seemed to have the bad luck!

The 3rd time we ate there was at lunch, and I ordered a hamburger cooked medium well, and it was cooked perfectly and was delicious! Guess I should stick to the burger and skip the steaks!

I ordered a medium-well filet last week at Le Cellier and it was perfect, one of the best meals I've had in my entire life. Yum!!!!

As others have posted, the best way to order a steak is to describe to your server the colour you expect the middle to be. I've worked in restaurants for 13 years and let me tell you, very few people have the same expectation of how their steak should be done. At my restaurant if a guest orders a medium steak the server will ask the guest if a bright pink center is how they prefer their steak. If it's not we can work with the guest to make the visit and the steak perfect. Every steak is different and what makes a good steak great, starts with the right expectation.
Also for those of you who don't mention to your server that you had issues with the cooking of your steak, it's not doing anybody any favours. If they don't hear of any complaints/issues there are no opportunities to train or retrain the cooks involved in your meals. I understand that nobody want's to come across as a whiny customer but in the long run your helping them address concerns that are avoidable!!

The first time I ordered a steak I asked for medium. It came back quite pink in the middle, I thought yuk but decided to eat it, it was wonderful and have made sure to get any steak pink in the middle since then. So just because its not how you usually have it doesn't mean you won't find that you like it after all.

Thanks for the advice. I will just describe how I like it rather than just say "medium well." :thumbsup2

We were there on 3/16 and I ordered my steak medium-well, and so did DS and they both were perfect. DH ordered his medium and it was too rare in my opinion, but he said it was just right.
