Weird FP issues- onsite booking but not permitted 14 days of FP

Thank you all in advance for your help!

I consider myself fairly seasoned when it comes to booking all things Disney, but I’ve been having a weird issue that I’m hoping somebody can please help me figure out.

The salient details:
-I have an AP, as does DS (DH doesn’t go as often and does his tickets a la carte, so he’s out of this issue)
-We always stay onsite with our DVC points
-We sometimes do have two trips booked within 60 days of each other

The issue is that the past two trips have been problematic when booking fast passes. My son is apparently allowed to have as many as he pleases, but when I get to about day 3, the system tells me that I have reached the maximum number of FP allowed and does not let me continue. I know that by staying onsite I should have 14 days of FP permitted- correct? But we have some booked for February (four days’ worth) and the system boots me after only three further days in March. I believe that it is only allowing me 7 days of FP despite staying onsite.

The last time I called in for help with this issue, the CM told me that the system was recognizing my son’s onsite stay, but not mine, so he assigned “fast pass planning keys” to my account that allowed me to make further fast passes for our next stay. However, when I called today with the same issue, I was told that these “keys” do not actually allow for an override of the system when it comes to a booking block and that they would not be able to replicate this for me as the key would only extend a window in the event of an expiring AP, etc. She told me that the only way to fix this would be for her to make all of my fast passes past the third day (when the system block started) for March and that if I wanted to make any modifications at all, including day-of, I would need to call in. This is not ideal as I don’t have a long distance plan and use a wifi calling app from Canada but the Disney wifi drops the calls too often to use it reliably. I had her make the fast passes in any case so as not to miss out of the headliners and sure enough, MDE does not show any option to modify them. She said that she had checked with IT multiple times during the call and this was the only way to do it as the system was “stuck” on only allowing me 7 days instead of 14.

So, my questions are:

1.) Was she correct? If so, how was the previous CM able to assign to me the ability to make FP after the last call?
2.) Was there an easier way to do this?
3.) Is this truly a system glitch with regards to the 7-14 day issue or could my suspicion be correct that the previous CM was accurate when saying that the system wasn’t recognizing my stay(s)?
4.) Is there any way to avoid this?
5.) Is there any way to manage these assigned FP without calling in? For example, the resort concierge or a Guest Experience CM? The one I spoke seemed to think the only way was to call.

I’m hoping to try to understand the situation as I’ve likely just not seen something obvious, but also hoping that the responses will help others :). Thank you!

Just confirming, you and DS and both on each DVC reservation and you have absolutely no other booked FPs for any days that are not during a resort stay? Usually the 7 day / multiple trip issue comes into play when there is something weird in the mix.... such as an off site stay... you not being on a resort reservation.... the CL paid FP program... etc.

Yep, that’s correct. We are both on each DVC reservation and have no other FP booked any other times whatsoever. This is why I wonder if the previous CM was correct in saying that only my resort reservation was not being recognized. It’s perplexing!

Are you the lead on one reservation and him on another? That ‘shouldn’t’ matter to my knowledge, but just asking.

Were the FPs for your current trip #1 made with the FP key when you had the issue before (and is it still on your account)?

Detailed FP situations are not my speciality (will defer to more knowledgeable people on the boards), so just grasping at straws. Occasionally the multiple trip in close proximity AP ‘issue’ rears its head in unexpected/unexplainable ways.

I am the lead on both reservations with the same name format, etc. The FP key was added for our October trip because there seemed to be issues with it being close to my August trip. I hadn’t thought to check whether they were still attached recently, but I just checked my tickets and the planning keys have dropped off.

I definitely appreciate you asking good questions to try to help me figure this out :)!

We had a last minute trip last year and ended up at a non-Disney hotel as the value Disney ones were all full. the non-Disney hotel was a partner hotel though and I booked 63 days out. We should have had 60 day FP booking ability but the hotel reservation wouldn't link. I, too, am in Canada and long distance to call isn't free and I called on the 60 day mark and was told to call again in a day. After several days of being asked to call tomorrow as it should be worked out, someone made those same type of FP for us. I could see them in the MDE app but not modify them unless I called in. I finally decided that we'd just keep them as is and we still had a magical trip. It actually reduced our stress a little as I decided I wouldn't call to change them so no longer thought about it and it was one less thing to worry/think about.

Good luck with your planning and I'm sure you'll still have a wonderful time.

I’m glad it worked out for you! I still suspect that the system is just not seeing my resort stay despite the CM’s multiple assurances that everything was visible and working on the back end (because they never actually say otherwise😉).

May I ask, was it just your profile that was blocking you or was everyone on your reservation affected?

I've had one odd anomaly with FP, AP and on site.
No idea if this applies to you or not but here's what I found
Say I have a 6 night stay, but arrive early in the AM on day one and leave late in the PM on day 7, meaning I book 7 days of FP, then have another similarly laid out trip, 6 weeks later. and I try to book 7 days of FP, it alerted me that I couldn't book the last day. It's like it sees nights but has issues when the days exceed the night, and you have an AP.

It does sound like it’s not recognizing your onsite stay as an onsite stay and it’s limiting you to 7 days, when you should have length of stay FPs for all your onsite trips. Normally we see this problem, as @GADisneyDad14 mentioned, when there is one or more days of FPs booked that are not tied to an onsite reservation. That can include making an FP for a day earlier than check-in or a day later than check-out. And CLFPs sometimes cause issues too because the system seems to think they are not associated with an onsite reservation. But, you should not be having this issue if you don’t have any FPs booked other than those 4 days with your regular reservation. You did not book any FPs earlier than your check in or later than your check out?

I would take the non-modifiable FPs from the guest services CM and also ask to have your problem escalated to the next level of IT support.

Once you start completing your February trip, you’ll be able to make your regular FPs for your March trip. Those will be *in addition* to the non-modifiable FPs. So just take the FPs they are offering you know, have them escalate your problem and keep us posted!

It was my entire family affected as it related to the hotel reservation that wasn't linking and we all had that same reservation. The Disney system was showing us as having no hotel booked so wouldn't let us book FP 60 days out.

Thank you all so much for your responses and great advice! I think I will definitely escalate the issue, as my son, who is on all of the same reservations, has not had any of these issues despite having a mirror image MDE when it comes to resort stays and fast passes. They did rebuild my MDE back in May for imploding due to too many identifiers or whatnot, so I wasn’t expecting to have issues yet again. But there is Disney IT for you, I guess! They don’t discriminate.
