Weird and Ninja’s Pre-Disneymoon [Completed!]

really enjoyed your innoventions updates! really haven't spent much time in there during my last few trips, and it all looks so much fun!! Next time... :thumbsup2

Emma princess: x

I love your Innoventions updates. I'm glad you got to spend so much time there exploring, something we never seem to do despite all my claims I want to.

Bummer you didn't have a good experience at the Visa meet and greet. We had a great visit in August...can't wait to get to that part of my report. That is so weird they thought Matt was your son! :scared1: To answer your question, NO, you definitely don't look old enough to be his parents! I failed to mention it in my April TR but there were a couple times when some CMs thought I was...well, not my dad's daughter. :confused3:scared1::rolleyes::confused:

I'm so glad you spent so much time in Innoventions, I learned about all kinds of stuff. We had never even been in there before our December trip and we didn't spend a ton of time then - we missed so much!

Ummmm, no, you & Weird don't look old enough to have an 11 year old child! After the guy took the pic of just Matt you should have asked if he would take one of just the two of your without your brother :thumbsup2

I only recently found out about the Visa meet and greet- through Sarah's April TR, I think. I wish I knew about it when my sis and I went to Disney last March, but I think I dragged her on enough character lines so it worked out I guess lol. Oh gosh I can't believe the CM thought Matt was your son! People can be so dippy sometimes.

where's the fire sounds like DH's kind of game.

Sorry the CM confused you for Matt's mom - you old lady you :rotfl2: I bet that's so hard to guess that stuff. Because either way you're screwed. I always get mad when people ask if my mom is my sister - but she loves it. :rotfl:

Just think - it'll make your Disneymoon Disney visa picture that much more special, since you'll leave your son at home

I'm glad you had so much fun in Innoventions, but I'm sorry they messed up your photo! :headache: They should never assume (you know what they say about people who assume... :rolleyes1) that you and Weird are Matt's parents! I definitely do not think either of you look old enough! :confused3

Haha, funny. You guys definitely don't look old enough to have an 11 year old son! That happens to me all the time, too when I am out with DH's 10 year old niece. People always assume she is my daughter and I get paranoid that I look that old, too!

Saw your TR in your siggy so I figured I'd check it out:goodvibes I'm loving it so far and can't wait to read more! You remind me a lot of myself in Disney, with taking lots of pictures and such. Keep the updates coming, I'll definitely be subscribing:cutie:

Woohoo! Glad to have you on board, Gabbie! I'm learning to take more pics of everything! I thought I had a good amount of pics in my first TR, and now when I look back at it, I realize I didn't!

Touch screens definitely make ordering much more fun! I really want to try Contempo Cafe for that reason!!
That actually looks like a lot of fun-- we have a great picture of DBF in the on-fire house, but we didn't play the game. Definitely next time!

Sad thing is that this younger generation will think touch screens are boring as they'll be found everywhere because of phones and the iPad and all that. Boo on them. Haha, if anything, it'll leave all the screens available for us!

Definitely try the game! If you catch a game right before it starts, it really doesn't take that much time, yet it's still so much fun! Haha, especially if you're competitive!

really enjoyed your innoventions updates! really haven't spent much time in there during my last few trips, and it all looks so much fun!! Next time... :thumbsup2

Emma princess: x

Yeah, we spent a good amount time there already and we STILL didn't see or try everything! Amazing how they could fit so much fun in such a "small" area! Hope you get to enjoy it next time too!

I love your Innoventions updates. I'm glad you got to spend so much time there exploring, something we never seem to do despite all my claims I want to.

Always next trip! Hehe, and you'll be back there before you know it :thumbsup2

Agh, how do people think that you look anything other than your dad's daughter?! I understand when people ask if mother and daughter are sisters because at least there's a compliment in there for one of the two! Anything else is just really awkward.

I didn't even realize what was going on when we went to take that picture. Like it all happened so fast, and I felt like we were being shooed out or something. I wonder what the photographers and the characters do when no one's in there. Maybe they were in the middle of a conversation and wanted to finish it!

I wonder if Weird and I will do it next time. Well, we will because then we can get our free photo. It is fun going in and not knowing who's going to be there! We didn't get many other character photos, so this is just a fun way to guarantee at least one!

where's the fire sounds like DH's kind of game.

Sorry the CM confused you for Matt's mom - you old lady you :rotfl2: I bet that's so hard to guess that stuff. Because either way you're screwed. I always get mad when people ask if my mom is my sister - but she loves it. :rotfl:

HAHA, I had to copy the "Disneymoon Disney Visa picture" and send it to Weird because I started cracking up so hard! Yeah, we'll have to find someone to watch our son since we'll be at WDW not even thinking about him!

I'm glad you had so much fun in Innoventions, but I'm sorry they messed up your photo! :headache: They should never assume (you know what they say about people who assume... :rolleyes1) that you and Weird are Matt's parents! I definitely do not think either of you look old enough! :confused3

That's the part that really weirded me out! I didn't think we could look old enough. Even if we were to have a baby like, as early as physically possible, it's still not possible for him to be that old already! Whoa there. Haha. I wish I had heard it so I could have said something.

Haha, funny. You guys definitely don't look old enough to have an 11 year old son! That happens to me all the time, too when I am out with DH's 10 year old niece. People always assume she is my daughter and I get paranoid that I look that old, too!

Thankfully, Asians don't age as quickly! We should remember that benefit now. I have to appreciate the fact that I sometimes get mistaken for a student ... haha.

Monday, April 5: Make a Right!

I don't know what time it was at this point, but we were ready to move out of Future World and into World Showcase! I was so excited to really explore because I knew Weird would appreciate all the details especially in the different architecture of the buildings. The one thing I wasn't excited about was the fact that WS doesn't really have that much shade when walking to visit all the countries. Yes, I know each country has shops and stores, but I knew we wouldn't get to go in each one. My dad's patience was already wearing thin!

While we were walking, we were greeted by the sudden appearance of the Tronorail! Weird was absolutely thrilled! He took a ton of pictures! We were in the perfect spot for it too. I'm glad he had a chance to see it again close-up because he really is a huge fan of the movie. I do admit, it's pretty cool too if you know exactly how the lightcycles work. Of course, I still have to wrap my mind around the fact that they're ridden like motorcycles. In VMK, they had Tron lightcycle "couches" instead.

IMG_6661-1.jpg

I especially love that my dad was pointing up towards it as we were walking!

IMG_1547-1.jpg

By the way, I also think it's funny how Weird and I took different pics for the same moment. Weird loves taking pics of things. I don't care so much about things as I'd rather have the pics of the people and their reactions. The first one above is mine. See how my family is more of the main focus? The second one is Weird's because of course, he was focusing on the Tronorail!

Here's a pic of the Tronorail and a pic of the little water play area for the kiddies (and kiddies at heart!) who are suffering from the heat! Or who just enjoy getting drenched!

IMG_6662.jpg

Same as before. The first one above is mine, and the one below is Weird's.

IMG_1551.jpg

And one last pic because Weird was going to capture every moment of it! I think those misters on the bottom left are run on solar power. I could totally be making that up, but I know that there's another cooling bench closer to Innoventions that runs on solar power.

IMG_1555.jpg

As you know, we were there during the Flower and Garden Festival. I was most excited to see the Mickey and Minnie version of the famous painting American Gothic. I had read about it months before, but then I stupidly looked at pics of the F&G Festival on DIS before going so everything wasn't as interesting to see. I was still happy to see this though!

We waited and waited for our turn to take a picture. People were kind of just standing around in a "kinda sorta" line, knowing who was there first and all that. So finally Weird and I went up. Oh, but wait ... the princess (she had a tiara on) had to step in and have her picture taken first. Um, ok.

IMG_6663.jpg

Let's try that again. We had to wait a little longer for the girl to get out of the frame too, and Weird was moody about it. I think everyone else around us was feeling it as well. I understand taking a picture off to the side with the topiaries in the background, but c'mon, you see there's a whole crew of people waiting! At least if you do that, take it quickly and then go! She had a bunch of pics taken; it just took a really long time!

IMG_6664.jpg

We got to the part where we could go either right or left to enter the World Showcase, and I said, "To the right!" We always, and I mean ALWAYS, go to the left. We NEVER make it completely around WS, and I was determined to do so this time! If for whatever reason we couldn't, at least I would be able to see the countries we normally miss. Plus, our Kim Possible FP was for the International Gateway.

There was so much to see that it was a little bit of overload. All the F&G kiosks and stores were set up. We had fun at first as we saw these really cute garden statues (guessing that's what they are!).

IMG_1559.jpg

If we had a garden, these would definitely be perfect for it! I like them better than the Mickey gnome that everyone seems to like. I'm kind of scared of gnomes ... I mean, I love the Travelocity commercials with the gnome, but if that gnome was ever in my vicinity, I'd freak.

IMG_1560.jpg

I initially thought that I would get a F&G pin to commemorate the occasion, like choosing one pin for each trip from now on. However, I didn't like the ones on the left because they weren't specifically F&G in my mind. I didn't like the one on the right because it was rather large!

IMG_6666.jpg

And look! Here's Thumper! I remember seeing someone's close-up of a topiary, and I liked how it looked so that's what I was going for in this one. Haha, not as good as the one I saw.

IMG_6667.jpg

Well, we were finally officially in World Showcase. If you know Epcot, you know which country we were exploring first! Just wait for the next update!

I was thinking the same thing. When we were checking in for our flight at the AKL, one of the people there addressed us as "Mr. and Mrs. ........". Now, I'm 58 and Sarah is 25, so I don't know if I should be flattered that I look young enough to have a wife that young, or insulted that someone would think that I'm robbing the cradle. If somone thinks it's strange for a Dad to be travelling with an adult daughter, that's their problem. My wife (Sarah's Mom) doesn't like to travel that much, so I often have to depend on my daughters if I want travel companions.

You and your quirky fears crack me up - scared of the Mickey gnome  I will admit, gnomes can look a little bit creepy.....

Even though you had to wait for it, the picture of you and Weird in front of the Mickey & Minnie topiaries is really good!

I always love pictures of F & G Festival! No matter how many times I have seen the topiaries, I always find them fun. They are just so cute.

I like those Mickey and Minnie garden statues too. I remember the gnomes, but I don't remember the statues. It must be a pain to bring back home though. I figure most people ship them home?

After following your TR, I'll definitely be dedicating more time to Innoventions on our next WDW trip. We've been there a few times and I've never even seen the Slapstick Studios (which sounds pretty fun!). That is one of the best things about following TRs, I think ~ all of the things others do that we may not think of. :goodvibes

That Tronorail is so cool looking!! Excellent pictures! :thumbsup2

Seeing all of those topiaries makes me really wish I has some sculpting talent in the garden. How cool would it be to have Disney topiaries all over the yard? ::MickeyMo

Augh, people jumping out of line to take pictures is so annoying! We wanted to take a picture of DBF with the Sword and the Stone last trip, so we patiently waited for a family to be finished (and it was obvious we were waiting!). Just as the family stepped away, a mom breezed up with her three boys and had to take about 20 different combinations of pictures (boy1 with boy 2. boy 3 alone. etc.) I wanted to say something, but DBF is much politer than me and wouldn't let me, so we just waited until they finished (half hour later). I hate that sense of entitlement-- people thinking they're above lines! One a positive note, the picture of you and Weird w/ Mickey and Minnie turned out really cute!!
I knew which country you went to! We only skimmed over that side our last trip-- we always start from the left, too!

Hey girl! I am back on here after a crazy start to my school year. I can't wait to get myself all caught up.

Yay! I'm glad you were able to get a good photo in front of the Mickey and Minnie topiary. I can't stand photobombers... :headache: I know that sounds mean, because a lot of times people walk into your pictures without even realizing it, but still. It annoys me, haha! I'm glad the "princess" finally got out of the way!!

Glad Weird got to see the Tronorail up close.

Ugh, I hate it when you want to have your picture taken by a topiary and there's people taking their sweet time doing it. I just remember one trip we took over the holidays we wanted our picture near the Epcot entrance and these people were just sitting there when there's a ton of people standing there clearly wanting to get a picture! GRRR.

I think you should start getting a pin each trip. haha (of course I would since I'm the souvenir junkie). I have WAY too many pins as it is but I've been trying to limit myself to ones that reflect that particular trip (like staying at a new resort or doing a new attraction) because some of my pins I really don't remember when I got them. I just thought they were cute. I like being able to look at them and be like oh yeah, that was when we went to MVMCP or that was the first time we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge...sorry for that rambling...

I love that you can travel with your daughters! It looked like you and Sarah had such a fun time back in April. It makes me happy to know that good father-daughter relationships do exist, especially those who share a mutual love for Disney!

You and your quirky fears crack me up - scared of the Mickey gnome  I will admit, gnomes can look a little bit creepy.....

Even though you had to wait for it, the picture of you and Weird in front of the Mickey & Minnie topiaries is really good!

Haha, it's not that it's Mickey, it's because it's a gnome! I must have seen too many Goosebumps book covers of things like puppets coming alive ...

Thanks! I actually think it's a little funny. At that point, Weird didn't really put his arm around me for pics when my dad was around!

Just before I saw a pic of the Stitch topiary in front of Mission: Space. Since we didn't go near that ride, I missed it. That would've been fun to see because it's not a common one that's photographed.

Yeah, I'm sure they'd have to ship them home. Haha, that thing would require its own seat on the plane!

After following your TR, I'll definitely be dedicating more time to Innoventions on our next WDW trip. We've been there a few times and I've never even seen the Slapstick Studios (which sounds pretty fun!). Yup! I love reading TRs to learn new things and just to see how other people see the same things I see. Plus, I mention all the random things from TRs to Weird all the time! So even though he doesn't read them, he gets the benefit of them!

YES, Disney topiaries would be so fun to have! Haha, it'd just require so much maintenance!

Augh, people jumping out of line to take pictures is so annoying! When I wrote that part about the "princess," I was wondering if people would think I was overreacting or something, but seriously, it just bugged me! I mean, yeah, don't wait in the line, but take one farther away or something! I especially get annoyed when parents do that with their kids when we've been waiting. It's like they don't think we could possibly want a picture. Um, what are we standing there waiting for then? Haha. Just watching?

It felt SO weird starting on the right! It was all completely new, and I felt slightly lost!

Hey girl! I am back on here after a crazy start to my school year. I can't wait to get myself all caught up.

Yay!!! You must've had a lot to do getting your boys to school!

Haha, I like that term - "photobombers." I know that sometimes people walk in front of the camera accidentally, but when some people realize it, they quickly sprint ahead to get out of the frame. Others just take their jolly ol' time!

Glad Weird got to see the Tronorail up close.

Ugh, I hate it when you want to have your picture taken by a topiary and there's people taking their sweet time doing it. YES, I don't understand sitting in front of a spot that is often photographed. There are so many other places to sit, must it be right there?

Haha, it's not surprising that you'd encourage the pin buying! That's why I thought about it even more because I knew you got one to represent the trip. I ended up not getting one, which I slightly regret but at the same time don't regret. We end up getting other pins later in the trip, but that'll come later!

Probably would've bought one if I saw a better Flower and Garden one. I didn't like the ones that I saw. Too bad I'll never be there for Food & Wine. I think those pins are cute because I like food!

Monday, April 5: Learning "Aboot" Canada

Perfect day to write about Canada! When we have a newcomer to the College & Early Career Sunday School class ("Colleers" for short), we go around to introduce ourselves by giving our name, whether we're in school or working, and then answering the question of the day. Yesterday Weird provided the question of "What's your favorite accent?" Seems like an odd thing to answer, but people gave such funny answers! Weird's answer was the Russian accent because of the DirectTV commercial, the one with the baby giraffe! Haha. Hilarious.

Well, I said this: "My name is Rachel, and I'm working. My favorite accent is the Canadian accent because they say 'aboot'." Haha, the funny thing is that I didn't even realize that they said that until Weird pointed it out when we were watching Heli-Loggers on TLC that takes place in a rainforest of northern British Columbia. Then this past Saturday we were watching The Cupcake Girls, and I was loving their accents because they're in Vancouver!

Anyway, it just seems like the perfect day to write about Canada in the World Showcase! Too bad I didn't actually hear any Canadian accents!

Before we explored, you saw in the last update that we were admiring the topiaries. This is Weird's version of Thumper and Bambi. I like it because you can tell we're in Canada because of the background.

IMG_1563.jpg

So cool to see this building in real life because at that point, I had only seen it in pictures! Too bad it was very sunny and rather hot to really enjoy and explore everything though.

IMG_1565.jpg

I was thrilled to find a red telephone booth! Didn't know they had one in Canada too! I scurried on over, had Weird quickly take the pic, and then scurried on out of there because it STUNK. Did someone not want to pass gas out in the open and decided to go inside that booth instead? Yuck! Haha, I would've closed the door to take the pic, but that stench wouldn't let me!

IMG_1570.jpg

We didn't watch the film even though I had heard it was good. My dad probably wouldn't have been okay with stopping to watch it. Maybe next trip!

IMG_1579.jpg

The brightness of the sun, although beating upon us and heating us up, also created beautiful rainbows in the waterfalls!

IMG_1580.jpg

My mom took this pic of us. Haha, again, since my dad was around, it seems kind of awkward. I also would like a pic with more of the waterfall in the background.

IMG_6668.jpg

I thought Canada was the perfect place to get a pic of my family too, so as we were walking along this path, I had them turn around for a photo. I think it's interesting how Weird and I both saw this pic differently. Weird frames them with the rock "wall" thing and the guard rail.

IMG_1583-1.jpg

My picture, which isn't good because of the poor lighting, is different because I wanted to show how there were the rock "walls" on both sides of them, making them seem as if they were smaller. I wanted to showcase the enclosed space. I seriously love that we both take pics because as I've said before, we see things differently!

IMG_6669-1.jpg

As we left the "natural" part of Canada, we saw this beauty! Le Cellier!

IMG_1592.jpg

Don't you love the little house? It's so picturesque! It's actually a gardening shed that they use to store tools they need to keep the landscape beautiful! This is Weird's pic of it.

IMG_1596.jpg

And this is mine. I switched it to the panorama mode thing to get more in the picture. Of course, like the pic of my family, the lighting in mine is bad.

IMG_6670.jpg

Weird took a pic of this sign because he has a cousin named Victoria. Hehe, although at this point, she will be my cousin-in-law too!

IMG_1601.jpg

Of course, how could you not love the maple leaf (they are maple leaves, right?) design on the fence!

IMG_1604.jpg

Weird took these, and I like them because you can see the rest of World Showcase in the background. There are pics that you can take that focus only on that one country and then other pics you can take that focus on how it's one country in the whole lot of countries. Love it!

IMG_1606.jpg

As we were leaving the pavilion, I saw the podium for Le Cellier (it's outside of the restaurant, kind of when you first near Canada, from what I remember). I decided that it couldn't hurt to ask to see if they had any openings available. I went up with Weird and said that I knew it was a long shot, but we were curious to know if there were any openings. She said that she could seat us exactly at that time if we wanted it. Ahhh, what a decision to make!

We had only eaten lunch fairly recently, so we weren't hungry. But it was a chance to eat at Le Cellier without having an ADR! What to do, what to do! Well, we sadly decided not to take it. We weren't hungry and knew we wouldn't be able to enjoy it as much as we would if we were. Plus, I didn't see paying money for something that we wouldn't be able to fully enjoy. We said thanks and walked away.

Yes, we walked away. Oh well. There's always our Disneymoon! Haha, for lunch!

Canada is such a great place to take pictures, everything is so pretty!

I really liked the film there, but hate that you have to stand up the whole time, and with it going on all around me I got a bit nauseous at times, it would have been nice to be able to sit down.

What a bummer that you had to pass on Le Cellier, but I agree, it's not a place to go if you aren't hungry. Too bad you didn't just go there for lunch!
