Am I the only one trying to lose a few pounds before going down the new slide at the FORT?

Seriously, hope I can keep this up until the 18th..............gee whiz, I wish a girl could catch a break every now and then! :confused3

FWGirl and I have been losing weight on the South Beach diet since February. I have lost 19 lbs and have about 10 to go until I hit my target weight, which I haven't been since my hockey playing days some 27 years ago or more. It feels great and when I stay at the fort next time I am pretty confident I will not get stuck half way down the slide, causing water and small children to back up behind me, building enormous pressure resulting in an explosion of water and kids.

I'm Starving!!!!!! I got a Wii fit board :yay:for my birthday in February and having been trying to do that atleast 4x a week, plus I started the slim fast diet last month. A 1200-1300 calorie diet is just not enough!! I don't have much to lose but the "stuff" I have won't budge!! I hope I can keep it up till the 18th.
Good luck with your diet.:goodvibes
Also could someone explain to me why I feel the need to lose weight before Disney!!:confused3

You should lose weight for the health benefits, not an upcoming vacation. I get nothing for endorsing the South Beach diet, but it was developed by a cardiologist not for weight loss, but for the heart benefits. It does tend to target "belly" fat and emphasizes protein and fresh vegetables. There really is no feeling of hunger involved and no special foods to buy - everything is available at your local grocery store. Combined with light weight training it is effective. I did run into a problem with hypoglycemia in the beginning but have included some sugar in my diet now with seemingly no effect on the weight loss. Some of his combinations seem bizarre but that's because he uses the foods he likes and omits the ones he doesn't. So I was not religious with it but have dropped 19 lbs in about 5 weeks. My BP has dropped to 129/84. I have dropped 2 inches around my waist.

I'm currently on a 1500 calorie diet. Week 2, I've lost 2 pounds. I'm going Thursday to a Doctor's Diet Program (they put you on a strict diet, and pretty much give you legal speed to increase your energy). At this point, I'm willing to try anything.
I gained nearly 100 pounds in the last 3 years, due to one reason or another. I am a nervous eater, and these have been nervous years. I almost lost DH in a bad car accident. Also, we were in the process of building a home at the time, and we were set back on that for about a year, and I was preggers w/ my DS. He's 2 and I still haven't gotten rid of the "baby weight", I figure I better get rid of the weight now, or I will still be calling it "baby weight", when he's in High School.:rotfl2:
My goal is to lose 120 pounds, by the time we go to Disney next June.
Wish me luck!

It must be a mind thingy,,what with hearing about all the cut backs Disney is making, you feel this need to cut back too. :confused3 :lmao:

I know, i am preparing myself for all the cut backs at the TE. its the new disney dining plan!!.......:rotfl2:

There was a time at WDW on the DP we would come back heavier than when wwe arrived, in Sept, 08 we went on the DP and came back about the same weight. :sad1:

It's hard for me to drop weight because of my regular medications, but I generally try to stick to Weight Watchers, but it's hard! Anywho, I was discussing my weightloss frustrations with my Doc and he mentioned how important it is to build muscle, which helps you burn more calories that just doing cardio. He said as you age you lose muscle mass, which is why it's harder as you age to lose weight. Like what worked in your 20s won't work in your 40s because you naturally have less muscle. So I took his advice and I noticed when I am doing light weights 3 x a week I lose more weight than when I do cardio only....

So even if it's only dumbells or your own resistance (for example squats, lunges, pushups) these things help to build/retain muscle so therefor you burn more calories.

BTW, did I mention how much I HATE exercise?

I did Atkins in 1999 and lost 35 lbs, had another baby, gained 50, lost the 50 and another 15....kept the weight off for 6 years by doing "maintenance/Atkins". Hardly ever exercised. Suddenly in 2006 Atkins stopped working for me. Now I try, and I mean try, to stick to Weight Watchers and try, and I mean try to stick to an exercise regimen. Life just has a way of interfering!!!

My goal is to lose 20 lbs before November's trip....

Good luck everyone!

Yeah!!!!!:cheer2: I've lost 5 pounds this week. The meds they put me on are great. I'm taking Phentermine, and eating a high protein (90), low carb (20-50), diet. I don't really want to eat (very odd for me), but I make sure I eat what I'm suppossed to so I don't accidently starve myself. I don't get hungry because of the meds, so I set a timer to let me know when I'm supposed to eat. I'm supposed to exercise at least 3x a week. My DH bought me an eliptical trainer, I've tried it a few times, but DS (2) thinks it's a ride or something and wants to join me. I'll have to figure out what to do with him when it's Mommys tourture, I mean exercise time.:lmao:
He's givin up naps so I haven't fuigured out a plan yet. If I shut the door, he stands at the door and screams, I already have to do that to get a quick shower, I can't do it to him anymore than that. Maybe a safety gate, he figured out how to climb the last one though:confused3. I guess I'll have to wait until DH gets home from work so he can watch him, but I hate waiting until 8:00 to exercise, it gets me revved up so that I can't sleep. We go to bed pretty early, especially when DH works overtime, he has to get up at 3:30 am.
Thanks everybody for the tips. I'll have to remember to get me some dumbbells now, and do a little weight training. To those who are on WW, I tried WW, just didn't work for me after they changed the plan about 5 years ago, and made it a flex plan, I think they also changed the points allowance or something too. I lost 80 lbs. on it a long time ago, I wish I had kept my old books, but I kept the weight off for so long, I didn't think I would need them, and gave them away. I also tried NutriSystem, and nearly starved, I couldn't do it.
I really feel that the plan I am on now will really work for me. It seems easy to follow, and like I said I don't get hungary. It is very inexpensive compared to other plans too. I get a monthly Dr. visit and my meds for $60 a month. You can't beat that!
Good Luck everybody hope you meet your goals!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I recall the diets that have more protien also help curb hunger, so between that and the med....must be nice....I'll have to ask my doc about the phen stuff.

I was sooo hungry last night (back on the wagon-took the weekend off). I gotta stop doing that, I'm such a yo-yo. popcorn::

Congrats on your 5 lbs! Going to the gym this morning....

Um...your 2yo...both my kids went through a brief phase where it seemed like they were giving up their naps....but they sooo obviously needed it. I just kept at it and after what seemed like weeks they settled back into a nap routine. Stick to your mom guns! Don't let that toddler push you around!;)

I started a very interesting diet plan called metabolic balance. I started 2 weeks ago by having blood work done and then I was given a list of foods that wood be good for my body. I have a ton of health issues and was skinny untill 6yr ago. Up untill I stated this I could not lose at all. But I had no problem gaining!!!!
Well in less then 2 weeks I lost 8.6 lbs, and feel better then I have in years. I have a lot to lose but hope to be at least 25 lb lighter by the time we are at FW in June.

Is this a doctor's plan or is there a book from the library? What kind of foods are you eating? 8 lbs in 2 weeks is amazing....reminds me of my Atkins days.

Good luck!:thumbsup2

Get the book, "You on a Diet" , don't remember the author, but a lot of good advise about portion control, what to eat and how to loose weight by changing habits, not just going on a diet

It is actually a german based company. I have a "coach" who weighs me and set me up on the plan. They say everyones eating plan is different based on your own blood work. It is a very strict program. I have to space my meals 5 hours apart , drink 1.1 gallons of water no other beverages except black coffee or tea. no sweeteners at all,
most meal consist of protein and veggie and every meal ends with fruit. I can only eat certain proteins, veggies and fruits.
My husband found out about the program from a guy at work who has lost over 70 lbs..

Thanks for the congrats!!!!! still gotta long way to go though!

Still working on a plan for the DS, he is so spoiled, he's attached to me at the hip. It's my fault though, he's my baby and he's the last I'll ever have, so I've tended to spoil him more than the DD's were at this age. They never seemed to care if Mom was around or not, they are Daddy's girls. My DS is a Momma's boy through and through. Oh well, I guess I better enjoy it while I can, it won't be long until he'll be a teenager and be embarassed to be around Momma.
