Weight Loss Support Group

Hi Everyone,

I have never posted on these boards before (read them from time to time, though). Been hanging out on the DCL boards for a few months now since I was fortunate enough to take my first Disney Cruise on the Magic in February and my second in April. Anyway, after reading this I think its time to stop talking about it and put it down in words. I am going to lose weight.

In 1998 and 1999 I was working at Disneyland Paris and that whole European lifestyle really suited me well and I lost so much weight. I felt great, I looked good...and I miss it. I am heavier now than I have ever been. I wish I could tell you how much I weigh now, but I am embarrassed to admit that when I went to the doctor, the scale couldn't go up enough to find out....I was about 220 when I came home from France in 1999.

Just before reading this, I was reading how someone had just returned from Cedar Point and had a roll back on Top Thrill Dragster. I have been a coaster fan forever, my count is well over 200 world wide. I can't ride most things out there now, and I have never done TTD because I know there is no way I could fit. I miss coasters. Even Space Mountain at DL is uncomfortable. Not too long ago I was at Six Flags Over Texas (about 5 minutes from my house) with my sister who was back in town after finishing college but before she jetted off to be Cinderella in Twice Charmed (did I say that out loud? Oops.) and we were going to ride the parachute drop ride. With both of us in the seat, it was too heavy for us to go.

Now that my other sister has a baby and I am an uncle, I want to be able to take my neice places and do rides, etc. with her. It almost feels like I have waited too long and I have given myself the excuse of there being no way to do this as fast as I should , etc. Always another excuse why to wait another day to start.

My love life has been non-existant...and I guess over the last few years I just gave up and made food my companion. I am not proud of it. Somewhere along the line I started laughing with the fat jokes.

So, tonight, I am putting this down in words. Its time to change. Here's hoping that having said it out here in a forum that I can start tomorrow to change. I am going to start by vowing to not take the elevator at work...no more snacks waiting at my desk...and I am going to use my breaks to walk laps in the building instead of surfing the web (I do that when I am "working" anyway ;-))

I hope I haven't bored you all with this long winded story from someone who hasn't even introduced himself on these boards (Hi, I'm Scott from Texas, former WDW & DLP Cast Member who now works for American Airlines). I just needed to put this down in words. Tomorrow...no, now...tonight...it's time to start the change.

Whew.

YenSid1222 – You can do it! I think you have great reasons for losing the weight (The best memories I have are taking my Niece to Six Flags and other Parks) and you sound realistic about it. I think once a person sets their mind to it is when the weight lose begins. Try to make it fun also. Listening to music while I work out really make the time fly by. Also – I live in Dallas! Not as close to Six Flags Over Texas as you but pretty close. So when your ready to go on Mr.Freeze let me know. Maybe we’ll get a roll back on that.

YenSid1222 , I want to wish you well.

It is hard work and like the previous poster states , you sound like you ready to do this. Once you start and you cant let an excuse keep you from that first step , don't let them get you if you have an off day. Know right now not every day is a day thats going to be good for you and if you know that and wake up the day after a bad day and start anew right then and there you won't have any problems.

YenSid1222,

Good Luck, we're here for ya!

When your ready to ride Dragster give me a holler, I'm always ready for that!

Remember, one day at a time......:thumbsup2

Two more down!
Only 8 more (slow) pounds to go!
That will be a 85lb. total loss since last July 4th

WOW WallyB , thats fantastic. Great Job. You should be so proud of yourself.:thumbsup2

I have a hard time believing it.
Now - after I get there -
I've got to figure out that tricky maintenance!

Wally b - that's Awesome!! 85 pounds is alot to lose. only 8 more to go! YAY!
As fas as keeping it off...
I want to know too...
What are you others out there doing?

OK...first off, congrats to everybody ! :cheer2:

But what do you guys do to motivate yourself when the losing gets slow? I was down 21 lbs the first 6 weeks...but over the last two months have only lost another 9 lbs. No change in the diet, and the only exercise change I made was to add an AbLounge routine three times a week. I know muscle weighs more than fat but thought more muscle would boost the metabolism and result in more weight loss?? BTW, AbLounge is definitely reccomended. Takes the neck/back pain out of crunches.

A question for those of you using the BodyBugg - is it thin enough to be concealed under a polo shirt and wear to work? Or will it be noticable, causing people to pull up my arm sleeve in question and reveal my rainbow-colored tattoo? :scared1:

The BodyBugg is about the size of an ipod that you would wear. I wear mine to work everyday....under dress shirts and sometimes short sleeve polos. You can put the bugg far enough up on your arm that your shirt will cover it. Besides, the few people that have noticed and asked are fascinated when I explain to them exactly what it is. I have lost enough weight that everyone at work has noticed so they love finding out my "secret."

How is everyone doing out there ? ! ?! ! I weighed in this past Sunday after a week at Gay Days and lost 4.8 pounds while I was there I was so happy with myself

Hows everyone else doing with their programs !!??

I'm really enjoying the nice weather , to get out there and do some walking.

Can I also say I'm sick of people saying to me " oh , can you eat that ? " H E Y I'm losing weight , YES I can eat that!

I am new to the boards and I just wanted to say that I love this thread. I joined Weight Watchers back during Labor Day of 06. I lost 50lbs (went from 225 to 175). My goal was to be around 180, as I can't see myself looking like a twink. I have done well (even ate well when I visited the world in Feb of this year). I have been slipping some now that is it summer and the grills have been lit. So I figured I would come here to get that emotional support fix.

Oh and Healthy Choice I have found has a more rounded meal and even tastes better than most of the Smart Ones. There is a Weight Watchers point value on the back of the Healthy Choice boxes too.

I so get this!
When I get that "that's going to make you gain" look for friend and family-
I'm like  "Trust me I know better that you do how much elliptical time this will cost me."
If I have to skip all the good stuff I'd just say **** it and not
stick to this plan at all.
As for me - I've now got 2lbs more to go till goal one - but I'm thinking of adding anouther 10lbs to that - to give myself a window to work within once I'm on maintenance.
But hey , it's nice to put on a swimsuit and not look like  a pig in a
loincloth

Plus it is all about serving size. You can have pizza, hotdogs, buffalo wings, Fries etc... just don't eat a ton of them.

I know after being on Weight Watchers for half a year, I will not order Super Size Fries ever again. A small order is fine to give me the taste that I am craving.

Ok I'm trying to go to sleep , but can't !!! I'm hungry for something and since I have nothing specific in mind - I NEED to go to sleep. I better not gain this week !!!

Hows everyone else ?

As for update from me –
Found out the scale has been 8 pounds off… So instead of starting at 190 pounds it was really 198 pounds. So the amount of weight loss hasn’t changed but the true amount I weigh has.
Some weight came back when I was sick. Gained 7 pounds back while recovering but then lost 8 in one week. Now losing 8 pounds in one week has to be humanly impossible so it had to be much water weight. On the NEW accurate scale I am at 169 so it looks like 29 pounds lost. Only 11 more to go to hit the Original 40 pound goal.
How’s everyone else doing?

You guys are really inspiring me to finally get off my big butt and get healthier! Both Joe and I can stand to lose weight so after this coming long weekend at WDW, we're getting on the band wagon!

good luck on your weight loss.
im trying to do the same..i was in the 200's now i'm down to 180 (last time i checked) my goal is 160

Morning all! Mostly I'm a lurker---getting my Disney fixes in between work but I did want to post to say HI & congrats to everyone on their weight loss. My girlfriend & I have been trying to lose weight mostly through South Beach but have fallen totally off the wagon lately. And I recently had surgery and have ballooned up so bad. We've decided to join a local gym and go for it again. BTW I can relate to the poster who mentioned that others always ask if they can eat certain things. While on the SB diet we had friends who were constantly poking at the "low carb" foods we chose. We decided this time to not tell anyone (at least "those" friends). Good luck to all and have a great day--it's almost the weekend!! :beach:

If anyone lives near Raleigh, NC come on over and we can grill something healthy!!
