Weight issues and bathing suits/bikinis?

Since the whole point is about having certain areas covered my issue is always about larger people wearing smaller suits.

People don't like it when thin people where thongs and barely nothing on their breasts, so why would it be OK for a larger person to wear a suit so small that it's basically a thong and there is barely anything covering the breasts?

Beyond that I agree with others. Most people wear the right size suit and nobody notices their size. The only people I've ever noticed are the people wearing small suits because the amount of flesh makes them stand out in the crowd.

I've never really thought about it that way, but you're absolutely right. Good point.

Well said.

Bathing suits are just like any other item of clothing...some styles are more appropriate/look better on some people than they do on others.

I also disagree on the over 25/no bikini rule. I'm 47, size 4 and wear a bikini-haven't heard any complaints yet, even from my 14 year old DD, who would definitely let me know if I shouldn't be wearing something.

I don't think it's simply a matter on weight/size. It's more a matter of how toned someone is. I've seen size 14 women look great in a 2 piece and size 4 women look horrible.

That's exactly what I was going to say.

I don't think I've ever seen a guy give someone a dirty look. It's definitely a woman thing. It's what other women refer to as "Got Issues?!"

Ahem, we call what you were referring to as "fur bikinis". Evidently very popular in the seventies.
Fur bikinis? Can I assume you are a "Girls Next Door" fan? Love that show!

'Fur-kinis'....hmmm I bet the French women would go for this too! :rotfl2:

Does that mean I have nothing better to do, as another poster said? No, it just means I feel comfortable expressing my true opinion to my family. .

Im super comfortable expressing myself to my family and others, for that matter. However - what someone is wearing, their body shape, etc, etc really doesnt float my boat - not should I or do I care.

Im the most honest person...maybe Ill say BLUNT, the most blunt person you'll meet - but Im not rude.

Exactly! :thumbsup2

Did you have DH do the honors? I don't think I could do that to myself. I would end up walking around with paper waxed to my hooha because I never got the nerve up to rip it off.

I think it really comes down to the style that is flattering on *you*. It doesn't matter what size or how heavy you are, there are going to be certain styles that are more flattering on certain body types than others.

I am 6'0" tall and have NO torso to speak of. I often feel like my legs begin at the bottom band of my bra. :p If you put me in a one-piece, I look absolutely freakish. For me, bikinis and tankinis are the only way to go because it gives the illusion of a torso... even though I'm 32 and way past the 25 year old bikini limit. ;)

I think wearing a bikini depends on your comfort zone and the fit of the suit. I've seen great figured people wear too tight or too loose bikinis. Uggh.

A one piece (no matter what the figure) is always most flattering.

A halter top will be more flattering for large breasted people.

Tanks are best for smaller breasted or larger hipped women (they broaden the shoulder to make the top equal to the bottom).

I love the mini skirt bottom with a halter top long two piece. I think it is very tasteful with a hint of sex appeal. Too revealing is just not sexy.

If anyone is worried about how they look at BB or TL - don't. No one cares. Everyone is just trying to get from one ride to another. If they do care, then they need a bit of help.

I strongly disagree.
My body is not even close to perfect but I look much better in a two piece. (I do mean a conservative two piece, no string bikini's here)

:rotfl2: That one I really had to laugh at. I get a mental image of someone walking funny and it's not because they just got a wax. It is because they have paper waxed to their hooha. :rotfl2:
