Wegmans market?

I lived in Florida for two years and the only thing I missed about Syracuse was Wegmans, I could not stand any stores down there.

I lived in FL for two years and used to tell my friends the only thing I missed more than my mom was Wegman's. They thought I was crazy. Especially because "Publix is the best store ever." Yeah right - they had no clue. :rotfl:

Not sure if anyone mentioned here, in this long thread, that it is also a great place to WORK. I do not work there, and I never have, but I do know people who have. they have low turnover, because they pay their employees well.

I do not shop at Wegmans often, we have 2 near here, but both are 1/2 hour way. I bought a cake there once, and it was excellent. They are beautiful stores, and they sell an amazingly weird assortment of things.

I love Wegmans! I so wish I had on near me. I love going there whenever we are up North. They have EVERYTHING!

It may look expensive, but I have found that they have really great sales. Just get a customer card and you are set.

:lmao::rotfl2:
glad I'm not the only one

Let me join the love Wegman's Bandwagon. I lived in VA when the first one opened in Loudoun. I have since moved but continue to shop at Wegman's throughout the area.

Love that store. Great on Valentine's Day. Did a lobster bisque with some pre cooked lobster.

Crab stuffed Tilapia with grilled jumbo scallops.

Did the amazing chocolate dome for dessert.

New Boyfriend was totally impressed.

With Wegman's I don't cook, I prepare.

OMG!!! Stickies!!! We live in Rochester and I only shop at Wegman's. Dear friends are from State College and we've been going to the diner for stickies for the past 34 years.

We Are!

DW and I both graduated from Penn State in the mid 90's, so getting stickies down here brings back so many memories. We used to stop at a Weis in Hershey to get them, when we were passing through PA (Family still lives up there.), but now we don't have to. :)

I am from the city where Wegmans originated (Rochester, NY). I grew up shopping there all my life and love it. Wegmans is quality and you will enjoy all the selections they have to offer.

A lot of people who visit Rochester tour Wegmans. Not too long ago Cher went to the Pittsford Wegmans. Just this past holiday season, Alec Baldwin did a few commercials with his mother because she loves the store so much.

My stepdaughter went to RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) and we were blown away the first time we visted that Pittsford store. Always made sure to stop in again whenever we visited her. Once or twice Wegmans was the first stop BEFORE seeing her!! I did notice what appeared to be older, smaller Wegmans in various shopping centers in the Rochester area, so I guess they're not all like the Pittsford store.

There's maybe half a dozen Wegmans in NJ now. The closest is about 40 miles away. I don't go out of my way to shop there, but will usually stop in when I'm in the area.

Like many have said, the meat, produce, and prepared foods are outstanding. And for staples and non=perishables, prices are very reasonable. For such a big store, though, the standard grocery section is not as large as many other markets and has a somewhat limited selection. Wegmans doesn't carry a few of my preferred brands. There's a lot of stuff I'm not particularly interested in: cookware, dishes and giftware, huge greeting card section, seasonal, large natural/organic section, teas, etc. But I do like their large international foods area.

A quirky thing I really like: the price labels on the shelves are on the RIGHT of the product facings instead of the left like most stores.

What are "stickies"??

It's a Penn State thing! At PSU there is a diner that's been there forever and makes these sticky "buns", but they are made as a loaf and cut into "sticks". When they serve them they grill them in oil and butter. So, picture a sticky bun grilled. :cloud9: At the diner, they serve them with most of there breakfast platters or with ice cream as desert. The diner was open 24Hrs, so they were the best thing at 3:00 AM after a night at the bars or fraternity parties! :) Oh those were the days!

Wegmans have been around a long time, even the smaller stores are fabulous, Pittsford is a flagship store. You will often see the owners mingling with the employees and customers at that store (but i have seen them at mine too) but the customer service and addressing customer needs is what makes Wegmans special.

Another Wegmans lover here! My absolute favorite thing is the free samples. They are so delicious and generous. I have had so many free samples sometimes that I'm not even hungry for lunch by the time I get home.

A few times I've hit it right and I happen to be there when they're having a "food event." Last time it was right before the super bowl. They had fabulous FREE appetizers every time I turned around! Gourmet cheeses, dips, thin crust pizzas, slices of paninis, freshly baked breads, desserts, even beer. It was a total party!

I'm never grumpy when grocery shopping at Wegmans!

You should see the big, beautiful new one they built near RIT a couple years ago. Kind of across the street from one of the older, smaller ones next to the fair grounds. Oh my, what a store. :lovestruc

That's the store I shop at and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes I personally think it rivals Pittsfords store...just a bit smaller and without the crowds. :)

Wegmans is the best - fantastic produce, meat, baked goods, I could go on and on. I am in love with their everything sub rolls - who needs DiBella's anymore?! :thumbsup2 Their customer service is top notch, and the prices aren't as bad as people may think they are.

Oh - and their bathrooms are awesome too, always clean and really nice. :lmao: I know, something you wouldn't think to consider, but they're great and goes to show they take care of their stores and care about their customers.

My DS goes to RIT, and has been raving to me about that Wegmans! The boy grew up shopping with me (being a budget shopper and bargain hunter) and knows a good store when he sees it ;) He wants to take me there when I go up in May to help him move home for the summer.

They deliver his prescriptions (asthma stuff) right to the campus-Wegmans does all the paperwork and I don't have to worry about my ds getting his asthma stuff. Great customer service!

As one with a 5 year old who seems to "have to go" when we go grocery shopping, I agree. They are really kept up, really nicely designed and I love how they have their soap to try out. I bought some after enjoying it in the bathroom.

Yet another HUGE Wegmans fan here!!! I am a huge Wegmans snob, will only do my shopping there. I also maybe just a tad biased as I worked there in college and my little sister works there now. Not only is it a great place to shop they are AMAZING to work for. I lived in Florida for two years and the only thing I missed about Syracuse was Wegmans, I could not stand any stores down there.

My friend is a supervisor for an insurance company here in Syracuse and every time they receive an application for employment from someone who works at Wegmans they always interview them because they feel Wegmans trains their employees to have great customer service skills!:goodvibes

I love Wegmans! The subs are awesome and so is the bakery. I get all my kids birthday cakes from there!:)

Now we have the nice new one in PG County, so I'm happy. It's not CLOSE, but it's close ENOUGH. :goodvibes
I go to that Wegman's every 3-5 weeks. I drive about 30-35 miles (takes about an hour) to get to that Wegman's :). I'm another Wegman's lover having grown up in upstate NY. They are hopefully opening another store a bit closer to me :).

I find their grocery items to be very reasonably priced and a very good quality. I really like their fresh produce, meats, seafood (made Christmas Eve wonderful last year:) ), Italian bread, the variety of cheeses, Wegman's pasta sauces, the international aisle, etc., etc. We love their subs, too. We recently tried their coconut cake in the bakery - ssooo delicious!

Wegman's rocks. We have three in our area now and I love them. Evrything is good quality, and I don't find them to be any more expensive than other stores. IN fact, their club packs of meats are always an amazing deal. Boneless chicken breasts are almost always $1.99 a pound and they are fantastic quality. I only buy my meats at Wegman's.

One of these will open enar me in the Fall. They don't look like a budget store but I have no issue with that. I want to know if it is a regular market, or more upscale like Whole Foods. I have food allergies so I shop at whole foods for specialty items and prepared foods I know are safe. Is Wegman's like Stop and shop or whole foods?

I LOVE Wegmans and shop there pretty much exclusively. I guess you can say they are more of an "upscale" store. But I don't feel they are upscale in price. They have their everyday low prices and those prices are usually even lower or at least the same as the other big market in my area when they run sales.

I've been to 4 Wegmans in my area and the stores have all been consistent. They have impeccable bathrooms, the floors and aisles and cash areas are always spotless. It's just a nice environment.

I also love their brand foods. I guess there isn't a ton of selection there. Meaning they only have like a couple brands of fabric softner or only a couple varieties of Hamburger Helper, but that is how they keep their prices low. I mostly buy their generic brand of everything I can.

Also they have awesome and fresh produce.

I miss my wegmans soooo much since I moved down south :sad1:

Publix is OK, but it's no Wegmans!!! My mom worked for them for years.
