I miss Wegman's since we moved. It's a grocery store with a mix of store-brand and name-brand items, similar to Whole Foods with lots of organics and specialty items, especially international foods. Selections are more limited than a Kroger or a Pathmark. I never liked their pre-packaged meat, but the butcher department was very good. Their bakery area was huge, with a lot of store-made and unique items. The deli was also very extensive and their salads were really good. They have a nice home goods section that changes with the seasons, as well as a great seasonal area for holidays and summer items. Many times, I would only buy the out-of-town newspaper (for the city where we relocated) and milk at Wegmans because that's all I needed. The prices are higher unless you look for sales/coupons and store brand items.
The "draw" for our family was the food court - you could buy hot or cold food from the deli, salad, pizza/pasta, or asian-food hot buffet and take it up to the second floor where they had a nice eating area with restrooms and such. They had social things going on there, too, like games nights, seniors, mom's morning out, group meetings, etc. The prepared food's a little pricey, to be honest, but along the lines of a pizzaria or chinese food place, not a Romano's Grill or PF Chang's.
My kids loved overloading their dishes at the asian buffet and going upstairs to people-watch and eat in the comfy chairs with the arm tables, lol. It was an outing for us every other Saturday after a long morning of activities.
