Having never written a trip report, I'll do my best....The cast is myself (Mom), DS 13, DS 6, and DD 3. I decide back in November to take a quick trip to the world (this past weekend). Have never been without the husband and am a little worried, but we're all Disney vets so figure we can handle it!

We get to Orlando at 8:30 am on Friday and head for the ME bus. It was not too hard to find, and we were waited on quickly and efficiently and headed to our bus. We waited probably half an hour before departing and the bus stopped at the All Stars before heading to our final destination AKL. We got in the check in line without any waiting and I overheard the CM tell the couple next to me that their room was ready so I was excited. I wanted to drop off our winter coats and collect myself before deciding what to do next. Unfortunately, our room wasn't ready and so we had to wing it. We walked all around the hotel as this was our first time and it is very impressive. Saw some giraffes, zebras, and various antelopes and by this time it is 10:30 and the kids are getting hungry (we've been up since 4 am). Go the the MARA and want lunch but their still serving breakfast, so we decide to go with that instead. Afterwards, the kids want to go swimming and even though I wouldn't dare in that breezy weather, I let them all go in and they have a ball. After their lips start turning a strange shade of blue, I take a chance and call around 12:30 to see if our room is ready and it is, hurray!!!! We go upstairs to rest and change for the Pirate and Princess party.

We end up on the fourth floor with a pool view on the giraffe trail and the room is very nice. Very quiet and the view (while no animals) is still quite nice and actually occasionally we do see an antelope from our room. Housekeeping was good and the beds were quite comfortable.

Oooh I am especially interested in your report as my next trip is me and my 3 kiddos sans Dad. They will be 10, 8, and 5 at trip time. I would love to hear any tips you have for flying solo with 3 kids at Disney!

Sounds like you are off to a good start! Looking forward to reading more!

Ok, after everyone but the 6 year old taking a short nap, we head down to the Mara for dinner before going to the party. I had heard there weren't alot of places to eat in MK and I didn't want to take that chance. We got a family size pizza and I have to say it was edible, but not overly great. However, it filled the need and we had krispy treats for dessert so all is well. After dressing as Cinderella, and 2 pirates, we head to the bus stop and wait. And wait, and wait, and wait. We watched 10 buses come before us, before a MK bus finally arrived. I guess they don't send as many out for the Princess and Pirate party, but I have to admit I was starting to get worried. We arrived around 6 and got in no problem. The treasure hunting didn't start until 7:30, so we figured we'd look into riding some rides first. This was the second night of the party (Jan 26 a Friday), and riding the rides was a breeze! We walked onto absolutely everything. Now, we knew we were coming back the next day, so we didn't ride everything we wanted to, but we did try out some rides that are typically hard to get onto. I must preface this by saying that even though I've been to Disney many times, I have never been to a "party" before, so I had no idea what to expect. At 7:30 we started treasure hunting, where you find stands with X's on them, get in a small line and collect either candy or mardi gras beads. It was fun, but in retrospect, we should have ridden more and treasure hunted less. It was getting rather chilly and my kids were getting cold, so that might account for their crankiness. The parade was good, loved seeing Captain Jack and Tinkerbell, we skipped the fireworks because none of my kids like them, but overall I'm glad we went, it was alot of fun. Also, I did see several places open for eating, but didn't concentrate on them, since we had already done that. Next, home to bed and getting up early to meet my sister and mother at MK on Saturday!

I would love to have the kids alone. Next year I want to stay longer with the kids since my husband is limited to his time off of work. I think it would be fine. We have been 3 times and I feel comfortable being alone.
