Our local news here in Pittsburgh just reported the WDW ticket increases and mentioned that Disney is creating a new annual pass that will be cheaper than the current AP and will be for use on weekdays only. Did anyone else here about this? I went on the WDW web site this morning. The increases are there, but I don't see a new annual pass listed.

Lori,

Which channel were you watching? I live in Pittsburgh. I heard it mentioned on channel 11 this morning but nothing about an annual pass, they just mentioned the one day price increase.

I found an article on the internet:

>>>ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - It's going to cost a little more to play at Mickey's house.

Beginning Sunday, Disneyland and California Adventure will increase the admission price to $49.75 for guests over 10 years old - a jump of $2.75, or nearly 6 percent, Disneyland Resort announced Friday.

In Florida, Walt Disney World also is raising its admission prices $2.75 on Sunday, from $52 to $54.75.

Company officials said the higher price reflects the cost of investments in the popular theme parks. New attractions include a Snow White musical production at Disneyland and the ``Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror'' ride, which opens May 5 at California Adventure.

Disneyland last raised prices from $45 to $47 in 2002.

The company also announced the introduction of a new, lower-priced annual pass for admission on weekdays, when crowds are lighter. <<<<<

I wouldn't be surprised if the lower priced annual pass for weekdays is for Disneyland since the article is mostly about Disneyland.

Debbie B,

I saw it on channel 4, ABC. The article you posted sounds word for word what the news caster read. So you may be right. Maybe it will only be offered in Disneyland. It is kind of vague.

yup, i read the same article word for word on CNN's website.
got my hopes up initially, and then a quick check with Mouseplanet's message boards and Disneyland's website confirmed that these Weekday APs are at the DLR, and NOT at WDW. (they're only for SoCal residents)
bummer...

they're not that great anyway, as the blackout dates are pretty bad... many weeks you can only go on M, T, or W.

I hadn't heard that ....So .... is it only for DL...it may just end up here if it works out well.....

I was looking at those CA resident passes with blackout dates and such, and it looked ridiculous to me. Some days here, some there, some weeks here, some there, you'd pretty much have to have the blackout calendar with you to determine when you could go, because the blackout days are peppered all throughout the year, unlike the seasonal pass at WDW where it's basically just 3 solid periods blacked out. Either have a simple seasonal pass, or just forget it, I say.

I have the CA annual pass and I really like it. Bothering with blackout dates is no problem when you're a short drive away. I don't generally go durring the blackout dates even when I didn't have the pass because that's when it's most crowded.
