Week of 7/22-7/28?

Is there anything special going on this week? We went last year in June which also happened to be the week before the Pirates preview and it was crowded but not obnoxiously so.

Well we have had our room booked at the Fairfield Inn (across the street) for months but my husband just decided to join us so my mom was looking at getting another room and EVERYTHING is booked it seems.

Is that just standard for July about a month out or am I missing something?

I know going in summer usually means crowded and maybe because I always usually book my rooms WAY in advance they are always packed but I am getting a little nervous about it being crazy.

Just wondering if there is something going on I don't know about and if I should plan accordingly?

Also when it is this crowded do they usually open up main street for rope drop and if so how early? And when we were there on Veteran's weekend last year they opened DCA at 9:30 for rope drop as well and was wondering if that is something they might do also.

Yep, you're just looking at standard summer crowds that time of year. As far as rope drop goes, I have read that when DL opens later than 8 am, they let park guests in for rope drop 30 minutes early. On EE days, they let regular guests in 30 minutes prior to official park opening and let EE guests past the rope.

Thanks. I knew summer was crazy but last year we were there around this week in June and it didn't seem THAT bad and then in 04 my hubby and I were there in August and it wasn't bad at all.

I have been on veteran's weekend and then again during Christmas week so I guess it can't be any worse than those weeks

We're going to be there the same week.

I've been to DLR on very busy days (Memorial Day one year), but we've never been there the end of July. I'm hoping it's not too bad. I plan to get there at opening, but I don't know if I can get the little ones up and moving that early.

Let's hope that week isn't too awful with the crowds. For some reason, I can handle the big crowds at DLR so much better than the crowds at WDW. I'll never go to WDW in the summer again.

It seems it may not be the parks that are causing the hotel rooms to be gone it might be the events going on at the Convention Center, which is very near the parks.

I see this event
http://www.anaheimconventioncenter.com/eventsOpen.cfm?id=1249 which takes up most of the days you will be there, and from the rooms at the convention they are using it seems rather large.

Usually the crowds are pretty similar between June and July, but it will definetly be less chaotic then when you dealt with the Pirates Premiere.

We're there that week for the Cisco conference and I believe it has about 10,000 attendees so I'm guessing that's the issue.

We'll be there that week too. We'll be driving up from San Diego Tuesday evening and staying at DLR until Sunday morning, the 29th.
