Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I've not done garden grill it it gets pretty good reviews! We did breakfast and dinner at BOG last trip and the two meals are VERY different. Breakfast ambience was less "magical" for sure. We all really enjoyed our dinner there, and I would be going back if DH wasn't wanting to try something different. Boma and Ohana are the only meals we are repeating this trip.

If you just want to go see the castle and don't care about the food or meeting the beast I say just keep breakfast. But our steak and that braised pork dish was deeeeelicious and sitting I the west wing with the storm and the rose was a highlight for me.
Arg, so many decisions! Fun decisions, though. :) We did lunch at BOG last time and while it was pretty we were underwhelmed - but we ate in the main room, from what you are saying it's a lot different in one of the smaller rooms with a real waiter. Breakfast will probably be a lot like lunch. I'll have to mull it over, maybe it'll be moot if no reservations come through.

I did CRT last time with DD for breakfast, I doubt the lunch is much different but you know, castle. And it'll be new for my youngest. We did 'Ohana for breakfast but DH wants to try the dinner. And Biergarten is a repeat for us, down to the time - DH loved it.

So you did dinner last time at 'Ohana? And you're doing it again? That's awesome, that's an indicator of how good it must be! I can't wait!

I vote for leave it as is! GG lunch beats BOG dinner if your kids would love those characters. Plus everyone I know apparently did Disney in the last month and all I've heard is disappointment in BOG dinners.

The reviews do seem to have taken a nosedive lately. I'm happy to have good memories of our dinner there and not taint it by returning and it being bad. I've got a BOG breakfast (just to skip the RD Crowd and hope to see the PP standby queue) and lunch another day so we can have the cupcakes :)

What's everyone's favorite CS at MK? We did CHH last year and liked it a lot (and cosmic rays which was fine) but want to try something else.

Thanks, that's good to know! I'm not even sure if my kids have seen Beauty and the Beast, if they have it wasn't recently. But I know Chip & Dale will be a hit.

I kinda want to hear everyone's "finalized" plans now that we've all at least gotten our preliminary dining done. From heath92681 post the other day I think we will be together at our Fantasmic meal and 2 BOG PPO breakfasts :)
2 crazy senior adult ladies - been there many times - tend to be fast and loose with how we roll once we are there. We arrive 11/27 - here's the plan SO FAR but it will probably change a lot more as time goes on.

Sun - arrive around noonish, hit MK, Dinner at Cali Grill timed for the Party F/W
Mon - morning - EP, French Bakery for lunch, rest in the afternoon, dinner at Hollywood and Vine at 5:45, and hoping that the Star Wars FW will be going that night
Tues - AK in the AM, Flame Tree for lunch, rest in the afternoon, EPCOT in PM & still hoping for Rose &Crown dinner
Wed - HS in AM, some QS lunch, rest in the afternoon, MK PM, Tony's for dinner at 6:30
Thur - EP AM, Liberty Inn or French Bakery for lunch, rest in the afternoon, AK later, hoping for ROL dinner package
Fri - MK in AM, BOG Lunch 11:25, rest in afternoon, HS evening
Sat - check out - Magic Express by 11:30

I'm good with never dining with princesses #boymom haha!

We loved Ohana - we were in the first seating though and only waited about 10 min. Food was hot and delicious and service was quick. And the bread pudding was seriously amazing. I think most of the gripes with Ohana is that they get behind quickly so the wait can be long at times. We didn't feel rushed At all and my kids weren't too keen on the food so they were offered hot dog, PB&J, nuggets and fries, etc. it was definitely one of my favorite meals and walking around the Polynesian before was fun too!!

I want to know too! We did CHH and Cosmic Rays too, they were alright. CHH is Josh/easyWDW's favorite CS place. I got the Nutella waffle at...the place that sells waffle things. Sleepy Hollow. Yummmm but that's not really a meal. OR IS IT.

I don't know what's going on with the website today, but I've seen a lot of ADRs open up for the week we are there. I was able to move my Tiffins ADR back to 445 and picked up a breakfast at be our guest. It looks like they have opened up some availability for bog on party nights as well.

Ok this blew my mind!! I avoided many restaraunts based solely on the kids menus! Do you think you can count on this happening? Just Ohana or other places too? If there were pbj or nuggets and fries offered it would be a game changer!

I *think* most resort restaurants can and will, because they have access to the other restaurants. Ohana must get their non menu kid food from captain cooks, or so I have read. A place like BOG won't have that option, or most of the standalone restaurants (such as in the world showcase).

That is really good to know, thanks!

That's what I lean towards too and would personally prefer. But of course my younger DS' bff just got back from a poly trip last week and the only thing he has been talking about is the Disney jr lunch. I'm hoping we can hunt down the Disney jr characters to get some face time and pics outside of H&V because I really want to do the holiday dine instead.

We've done both. My boys liked Minnie's better. We were able to meet Jake at his meet and greet in HS. I think Doc and Sophia have a meet and greet too? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, can't remember. So that's always an option for you.

We have eaten at Pinnochio's, Pecos Bill, and Sleepy Hollow. We enjoyed the flatbreads/pizza at Pinnochio's. Pecos Bill has moved to a "Chipotle" style menu, although they did just eliminate the burrito bowl that we liked there. Sleepy Hollow has great waffles and waffle sandwiches. We would go back to any of those; they're our go-tos aside from BOG.

We will be doing Ohana for the first time. We have a 5:25 and an 8:00. I'm guessing we should stick with the 5:25 so we don't end up with a long wait?

So excited, just found this thread!

I am Melissa from Murfreesboro TN. We will be there Nov 26th-dec 1st. This will be my 4th Disney trip but I am finally getting my nieces on this trip! We have a family group of 13 total. Because I am the only one who has been to Disney in the last 30 years, I have become our trip coordinator and I love it They keep thanking me for all the work I am doing and I keep trying to tell them that I really enjoy doing it!

Looking forward to reading all the fun everyone has planned for their trip!
Welcome!! We are a group of 10 arriving on the 26th also. Planning for more people is exciting and a challenge sometimes. Where are you staying?

What would be your favorite mode of transportation to get to the parks and major areas, if you had a car with you and were staying on the monorail? Can't decide how we will want to get around each day. Obviously we'll probably just walk to MK from CR most of the time. And we'll probably monorail to Ohana. What about getting to AK for example? Or HS? If you had a car would you drive it or is parking such a hassle that it's still better to take the bus? Does time of day affect the choices do you think? I'm trying to imagine our days and how it will go. Like when we go to HS just for Holiday Dine...bus or car?

Last year we did the Pirates League. It was awesome and we got great photos. My little one got chosen to go on stage with Jack Sparrow afterwards, which is something I will always remember! So fun!

We contemplated doing the Pirates and Pals cruise this time, but it's a lot of money. If we splurge on the resort, I think we will opt for some pool/relaxing time there instead. Maybe we will take the monorail to the GF to see the gingerbread house.

I had considered the Pirates and Pals as well. I decided my family would enjoy the Christmas Decorations at Ft Wilderness better, I guess. And the fact that they will get enough desserts being on the dining plan. lol!
I would have considered Pirate League, but alas, all my kids have sensory issues and have never allowed anyone to paint their faces. Is Jack Sparrow always there? Not that my shy kids would do that either. They are a tough crowd!

I really don't know - it's great that you have so many options! I think for getting there the car would be nice, you can control your arrival time better. But it's so nice to just get on the bus and not have to worry about navigating traffic.

My boys were timid at first. The CM were amazing and really took their time with them. Then went from crying to smiling ear to ear.

Jack Sparrow does a little show a couple times a day. My boys loved it!

We are staying at all star sports because that's what was left. I really wanted to try Pop but were too late in deciding our dates.

Hope I am not crashing in on the party. I just got excited to see a group going when we were.
