Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I just dropped an Ohana for 12/1 at 10:35am

Sorry for not posting first, a better time for me popped up and I wanted to snag it so had to drop the 10:35

Sorry none of those but I'll keep poking around. Stuff I *may* wind up giving up: sci-fi dinner 11/30, BOG lunch either 12/3 or 12/4, 50s dinner 12/3, akershus dinner 12/4. My plans for the 28th-30th are basically set (tho I'm not committed to sci-fi since there's so little I want to do at DHS), it's the 1st-4th that are a big question mark!

If you end up giving up akershus dinner 12/4 I would love to snag it! We are a party of 3.

If you get up to 10 posts on the boards we can communicate via private message! I will most likely have to give this one up unless plans change!

Have been reading everyone's posts and it looks everyone did OK on ADRs. Maybe not perfect but at least reasonably pleased? Just checking bc on my FB newsfeed I have been reading about people saying they can get no decent reservations during our timeframe. Trying to decide if I just lucked out by arriving on the 25 or if it's just a case of haters gonna hate hate hate hate...

I think the ones who got shut out the most had lined up ALL really hard-to-get ADR's on their wishlist. I mean, if you walk into your ADR day planning on BOG, CRT, Akershus, 'Ohana, Minnie's Holiday Dine, etc..., you're going to have some trouble. That's especially true if you only have a 4 or 5 day trip, which would mean many other people had a chance at your dates before you did. It's a tough spot to be in.

The game of ADRs has definitely changed. Two years ago, it was definitely not this difficult. You have to have a solid plan and be ready to pounce before 6am. It sounds like all of us here played the game well. Disney doesn't make it easy, especially when they continually change up the "rules." I can understand that there would be a lot of unhappy people, especially during the free dining times. There are a lot of people who may otherwise not book a TS meal, especially the popular ones, now competing for a reservation. If you hesitate, even by just a few minutes, your coveted reservation can disappear.

Anyone else's app look totally different this morning? I'm so glad that they didn't change it on my ADR morning, it definitely would have thrown me off my game!

Probably both haha! I was able to score multiple hard to get ones and at good times too. I think a lot of people who were planning on going later pushed their check in to the 28th to get FD so we had a jump on those people too.

Yeah good point. Also sounds like people are hoarding lots of extras until they decide their plans better. I got a decent line up for sure and am pretty happy about it. I am not sure about MK days though. Is BOG worth a TS dinner credit? I have CP booked both days (one lunch one dinner) but only want one. Ideally I wanted one BOG breakfast and one lunch but didn't get a breakfast so I grabbed dinner.

We haven't eaten at CP but BOG dinner was one of our favorite meals last trip. The food was delicious, service was great, and we were sat in the west wing which was awesome. I have BOG dinner again this year but DH wants to try something new and just have lunch at BOG instead. We shall see!

I also just looked and realized I booked some stuff for early November instead of early December! So annoying to keep going back and forth between late November and early December when you're using the little spinny things on the app! Plus now I have to re-jigger for stuff on those early December dates that I missed!
I made a reservation for June 2 instead of Dec. 2. It is easy to hit the wrong month when you are trying to make quick reservations. What makes it sad is on June 2 I could get my preferred time.

seems the whole ADR system is having trouble again...imagine that.

I figured out one of the reasons I was having trouble booking is that I have an Annual Pass, which expires in October before my trip in November. Even though I have a MYW package which includes resort and park tickets, for some reason the ADR online and APP does not allow me to book beyond the 180 mark...each day. So today, I can book only up until 180 days from TODAY, rather that for the length of my stay.

Since we didn't get the dining plan this time around, I'm ok with that, since was able to call and get the most of the ones I wanted. I'll just watch and wait to see if the others open up as people who grabbed everything they thought they could maybe use start to firm up their plans and start releasing what they don't need. And if we can't eat at specific ones this trip, it won't be the end of the world...

I really like not having the restrictions of the Dining Plan, and have much more flexibility with ordering just what we want (maybe an appetizer, maybe not - maybe split a meal at a table service, or order off the kids menu at the quick service). However, it's just two adults...for families, the DDP really pays off! And if you get the Free Dining, yippee, all the better.

I can attest to this! I looked for Akershus right at 6 and when it wasn't there I got all flustered - by the time I got my head back on straight a few minutes later all the BOG dinners in the time I wanted were gone. You really have to be ready! I'm glad I got everything else I wanted but it sure helped to be flexible with times. A friend of mine who is checking in on the same date didn't have time to get to her ADRs until Tuesday night, she's having a hard time finding anything at all. Hopefully she'll be able to find something she can use in the next 6 months though.

Hi! We staying at AoA from 11/27-11/30. We usually stay at my husbands grandparents (1/2 hour from Disney) but this year we decided to stay a few nights at a resort too! This will be our first time staying at a resort with our kids (4 year old twins & a 2 year old) and I know they're going to love it! SO excited!

Personally, I liked the lunch at BOG better than the dinner. Have tried all three mealtimes - breakfast is good, but not worth $25, lunch was really good, dinner was mediocre at best (tried it three times). But that's just me - I've read others who have loved the dinner.

For me, BOG is great for the atmosphere, but the food could be better.
