Weebles or Little People?

Another vote for Little People. We have the farmhouse, airplane, school bus, several cars and small businesses, and Noah's Ark. My girls now ages 3 and 5 love them. My soon to be 4 year old just asked for more LP for her birthday.

I'll throw in my vote for little people also. For my DD6's 1st birthday my friend bought her the ark and she was still playing with it last year until it moved on to my DD2. We have probably owned all of the big sets and some of the holiday sets and they got used to the point of death.

Also we got a bonus with the ark a Little People VHS. Let me say my DD6 couldn't get enough of the videos and eventually the dvd's (owned them all). She would watch them over and over and over. They have great messages and learning in them. DD6 was able to count to 10 at 14 months and learned her abc's. I highly recommend them as well if your child likes to watch shows.

My kids will still play with LP at 10 and 14, lol. (We have them tucked away for when younger cousins come over, but inevitably all the kids are in there playing with them.)

I haven't seen a Weeble in years, but I know a concern I had years ago is their (necessarily) weighted bottom. Seemed to me if a kid chucked one, that heavier weight would hurt.

As a PP said, there are TONS of LP sets for all occasions. I still bring out our nativity set each Christmas (for those cousins again :thumbsup2). They also have Hanukah sets, birthdays... all sorts of things. (Check the FP website, not all of them are in stores.)

DS played with Little People for a good year and a half!! He had a few weeblos and didnt like them.

eta - little people have GREAT resale value as well. I sold all of our little people in one huge lot for $300!!!! (we had a TON of stuff!)

Love Little People!! I loved 'em as a kid, my kids loved 'em, passed them onto younger nieces and nephews who love to play with them!!

Wow! I'm glad I asked this question. I saw the zoo set and really like it. I will get that and the school bus or airplane. DS waits at the school bus for his sister, so I think he will like that. We'll see. I will use the coupon though, because $5 for 2 packs of 2 Weebles is a great deal and will make a great gift! We go to DH's cousins every Thanksgiving and we exchange gifts for the babies (they have a now 19 month old).

Oh I would definitely go with the bus over the airplane. Our bus is still going strong after 6 years of constant use. That is probably the most used piece we have and all their various toys seem to "use" the bus. The zoo is a great piece also and there are so many additional animals that you can add on to the zoo after the fact also. I think that was what I liked was that everything could be expanded upon easily and it made things really easy on my family at xmas and birthday time because they'd just get her a set she didn't have yet.

Another vote for Little People! We have the zoo, the barn, the bus, "main street", the fire engine (DS's absolute favorite - but I'm not 100% certain it's little people, since my grandma bought it for him), and the nativity. We also have the dvd and like the PP said, DS is just enraptured with it. Loves that DVD!

He played with my DH's old weebles at my in-laws this summer and really liked them. However, they are egg shaped (if we're talking about the same weeble wobbles now) and DS thought they looked like eggs and kept trying to eat them, which made me nervous. They were just small enough that they could get stuck in his mouth if I wasn't very careful. It drove me CRAZY! He never tried to do that even with my old Little People - you know, the ones that used to fit on your finger, and were about as big as your thumb??? :)

Okay - I just went and googled weebles and apparently the weebles of today are bigger and different from old style weebles. However, they still look like eggs and I bet my son would still try to eat them.

Little People!! My daughter loved her Little People. She got her first set before she turned one and did not stop playing with them until she was probably 10. We took a tote everywhere we went to the beach, etc and brought them with us for her because she loved them so much. I am hurt that they have now the travel ones! LOL!

I wanted the LP Nativity Set for DD last Christmas but it was $40 and just couldn't justify it. Well I happened to be at Walmart a few weeks after Christmas and got it on sale for $10!!! I'm giving it to her as an early Christmas present this year. I'm so excited.

But to answer your question my DD loves Little People, I also loved the old version of LP when I was growing up. My cousins who have children that are now school age also swear by LP.

As a daycare teacher, Little People are the best bet. They just seem to be able to take more wear and tear on them that the Weebles.

I just ordered the Little People ABC Zoo and the Little People wedding set from the Fisher Price website. After calling about 7 stores (Walmart, Target, and Kmart), I discovered that that they did not carry the zoo because I think it is an online exclusive. I used a coupon code to get $10 off, but had to add $2 to the total to qualify for the coupon. I found the wedding set on sale for $7.99 and got that. I got DS almost everything on his list now, on to dd.

PS- I was in Target today with the Weebles in my cart and I didn't buy them. Even with the coupon, they just didn't look like fun...

My kids have all grown up with Little People and so did I so we are sticking with it. I already have a Little People set waiting to give my son for Christmas. I'm sure the Weebles are cute but I don't want to start another collection going. We already have Little People, Legos, Hot Wheels, Mr. Potato Head, Little Pet Shop, Thomas the Train, Bakugan (which I think they finally got over), video games, books, and now American Girl which I hope doesn't get too big. I'm not starting anything else new until they outgrow some of the other stuff.

All three of my children (two boys and a girl) loved Little People. My 5 year old daughter still plays almost daily with her Little People animals.
