I have a question for Disney brides...Has anyone gotten married somewhere on Disney property and then some time before or after the reception go to any one of the theme parks in full bridal attire? Obviously brides with bigger and/or expensive dresses might not have had the thought even cross their minds, but for the untraditional bride...is this something that youve ever contimplated or done (that is if Disney would allow it)? I just thought it would be an interesting way to spend some extra time with your guests. How many times are you going to get to go on a ride in a bridal dress?? So, like I said before, i was just wondering if anyone has ever done this or heard of it being done. Let me know what you think...

Im pretty sure you are not allowed in any of the parks in wedding attire unless you have your ceremony, reception, or your DP the night of the ceremony (I think on that last one!) in one. I guess if you were having an intimate wedding..didn't have a full reception and wore like a white sundress or something that didn't look like a wedding dress, you could do that! That would be fun..but im sure if it looks like a wedding dress, they will ask you to leave. It would be fun though...I would love to ride space mountain...but I think my dress is a little big to fit in those tiny little seats!

Hi, 527DiSnEyBelle. Welcome to the Dis website!

Disney only allows wedding attire inside a theme park if you have booked your Fairy Tale Weddings ceremony and/or reception for that location, and this can only happen after-hours when the theme park has been closed to the general public for the night. This is a rule that Disney has adhered to for years, and if you are caught breaking the rule, you will be escorted off the premises immediately. Believe me, it’s not a rule that I would ever want to break or ever want to see anyone else breaking (it would be embarrassing, to say the least).

Why does Disney do this? For a myriad of reasons, one of which is because they care very much about “show” for their daily theme park guests. What I mean by this is that no guest expects to run into a wedding couple while they’re inside a theme park. It would look very odd and very out of place (disruptive, almost). Disney’s main concern is their theme park guests since those folks pay the day-to-day bills. Disney wants (and needs) to keep them happy.

If you are planning a Fairy Tale Weddings wedding or vow renewal, one of the options for your ceremony and/or dinner reception is to host it after-hours inside a theme park. This is a somewhat expensive option, but if you have a nice-sized budget and a desire for an event inside a theme park, it can be done. Speak with the Fairy Tale Weddings folks for more information.

I held my custom vow renewal’s dinner reception inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. My dinner party was a progressive one that began with a Handprint Ceremony in front of the Great Movie Ride. It continued indoors for drinks in the Gangster Area, dinner in the Western Area, and dessert in the Land Of Oz Area. My party then moved outdoors for dancing beneath the Sorcerer’s Hat Icon. The evening ended with a custom fireworks display that had been set to music by Disney’s Pyrotechnics’ folks. To say it was the most magical night of my life would be an understatement. Disney truly knows how to throw a party. If you’d care to read about the planning of my vow renewal, click here. I apologize in advance that my trip report is still incomplete. One of these days I hope to complete it.

One final thing before I close. If you are hosting your event inside a theme park, you have the option to have a few of the rides operating during your party. Each ride has a specific price tag associated with it and Disney will inform you of this when you book the event. I remember one bride who held her party inside the Magic Kingdom. She paid to have the carousel operating during it. Also, if you book the Haunted Mansion venue, your guests may ride the attraction at the completion of your party. I almost hosted my event inside the Tower of Terror. If I had, my guests would have plunged 13 stories at the end of their night. Talk about a memorable way to toss your cookies. ;)

Again, welcome to the Dis.

Epcot allows wedding events during park hours but they must be booked through DFTW. The Disney Wedding website shows a variety of these locations.

MK weddings are now $500k minimum and there is no longer a catering department so they don't do "meals" but might do something like apps and drinks.

As for going to a park in your attire, unless you are paying for the party through DFTW, as everyone mentioned you won't be allowed in - it's a big no no - and to get into the park in your attire you have to come in through a "back stage" entrance via transportation booked through DFTW.

Epcot only allow weddings outside of park hours - you can have your reception and or dessert party during park opening hours but you are secluded from the other guests.

Oh sorry, I wasn't saying ceremonies, but rather receptions etc. And the front of the park is open during weddings in the World Showcase so the park is open persay - guests walked past Jonette's wedding... on their way to future world.

Hey, but at least I had a security force...the reason people walked by was that the international gateway was open to allow people from the yacht, beach and boardwalk to get to future world. They were not allowed to go near our ceremony location or to "idle" around there. They definately kept people moving!
