Some brides have great "slideshows" of wedding pics in their signatures! How/where did you get them? I'd love a tutorial!

Not a bride (yet *eyes DBF*), but I used to play around with web graphics. They're done with an animator. I used to use a program that apparently doesn't exist anymore, but this is a link to a reputable one: http://download.cnet.com/Ulead-GIF-Animator/3000-2186_4-10002057.html It's only a free 15 day trial and after that you have to pay for it, but if all you want it for is to make a gif of your wedding photos, you really don't need it for very long :)

Hope this helps!

That's it! That's what the DISer who made my signature used! I don't know how she did it, though...

It's pretty easy, to be honest. I've never used Ulead, but I downloaded it to play with. When you run it the first time, a dialog box appears asking what kind of project you want to open. If you click "Animation Wizard" (this is also available in the File drop-down menu), you just follow the instructions. The higher the number of frames will mean a larger file size, which increases loading time. Carrie's looks like it probably has about 5-10 frames per transition, for example, but I can't really tell without plugging the file into Ulead.

If anyone wants, I can make a little tutorial with screencaps and put it up in this thread. :)

Okay, so, as long as you've selected "Animation Wizard", the beginning is very easy and has the instructions already on the screen, so I'm just providing screencaps of that part and will have commentary on the rest.

For the canvas size, your images MUST all be the same size, otherwise the GIF will either A) look weird, or B) not work properly. I'm using 100*100 images, but, as an example, Carrie's GIF is 300*225.

I'm using images of Christian Kane for this example.

Okay, now comes the tricky part.

Click "Insert Blank Object" and drag the blank box to the bottom of the column. Make sure that the little blue eye is clicked next to the blank box.

step5g.png

Go to the bottom of the screen and click "Add Frame".

step5b.png

Click "Fill Tool" and then select a color in the forefront color box. Make sure it's the forefront, since otherwise it won't show up. You don't necessarily need these, but I think it looks cleaner. It's really just what you want, though, because it'll look fine either way :)

step6.png

I used white, so this is what it looked like. The dotted line won't be there at the end.

step6b.png

This part's pretty optional, but it helped me keep track of where everything was. I duplicated the white frame and put one on either side of the images of Chris.

step8h.png

Now, select the first image and filler box. Right click and select "Tween". This is how you get the transition between images.

step9z.png

You can play with the settings, but make sure that your "start" and "end" frames are the right ones, otherwise it'll get messed up.

step9b.png

Your layout will look something like this:

step9c.png

Do the same with the other images. Then select everything between your start and end images.

step10.png

Select "Duplicate frames". It'll automatically select the duplicates. Drag them onto the other side of the last frame.

step11.png

Then click "Reverse frame order" and select "Reverse the order of selected frames".

step12s.png

step12b.png

That other white frame was just there to give me a visual for the end, and it's not necessary after the duplicates have been made, so if you have it there, you can go ahead and delete it.

Go to File, click Save As, select GIF, and save it :)

If everything went as planned, you should have a neat looking animation like this:

Great tutorial! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! :goodvibes

This is awesome!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I will have to download this and sit down and go through the steps, but I am sure lots of brides would love to do this, so I am really thankful to you!!!

It's no problem! I like passing along information almost as much as I like researching :)

You're very welcome! It can be a bit of a pain at first to learn how to use a new program, but after a while, you get used to it. I know there's filters in there somewhere, but I don't know where :rotfl:
