wedding scent!

I wear a differnet perfume everyday but I have the Vera Wang original my mum gave me for Christmas after we got engaged for me to wear on my wedding so that's what I'll wear. I also have the princess one but I wear that one enough already. I like th eidea of having a special perfume for your wedding day. On my mum's wedding day my grandma (her future mil) asked if she remembered perfume. My mum said no cause she didn't wear perfume. Grandma whipped a little bit of Chanel No. 5 and spritzed her saying "Everyone is going to be hugging you like crazy, you're wearing a ton of dress and you will sweat like never before while in it. You'll need perfume." And then after the photos right before the reception my Grandma spritzed her again. Funny thing? 30+ years later my mum know wears perfumes and although she has several faves Chanel No. 5 willl always be her #1 because it was the first perfume she wore and it was the one she wore on her wedding day.

What a cute story! I love it!:goodvibes

I'm also wearing Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. DF got it for me on my bday two years ago after it came out, and he loved it. Then he gave it to me again Christmas last year, b/c I was almost out. I'm getting close to the bottom of the bottle again, so I've quit using it much b/c I MUST wear it on our wedding day!

i just love this scent. it's so perfect, and i love SJP...i hope they have a good gift set for christmas this year, last year macy's had a HUGE bottle...that's what i'm asking santa for! i even wear it to bed! i love it so much!

when i go out for VERY special occasions i wear chanel mademoiselle...df bought that for me several years ago. it's too heavy for me normally, i always go back to lovely! sometimes i wear happy too, i switched from happy to lovely 2 years ago, i miss it at times...i wore it all through college, my girlfriend works at the counters at saks and says happy is an 'old scent.' i don't believe in "old scents...' a classic is a classic!

Scent is something that definately stays with your memories. Many many years ago (more then 20) I went to Ft Lauderdale with my girlfriends. I brought Herbal Essence shampoo with me and used it down there. I do not use this shampoo anymore but whenever I smell it it brings back memories of a girls springbreak vacation in Ft. Lauderdale.

I am wearing Lancome Miracle, it is my evening perfume if we are going out anywhere. We both like this one.:cool1:

As for scents... I usually wear Jo Malone's Nectarine Blossom and Honey but the beauty part of her stuff is that because they're very light and natural you can layer the different scents to create something entirely unique.

I wore that on a trip to San Francisco, and now every time I wear it, DF says it reminds him of our trip to SF!

I usually have to switch perfumes every 6 months or so because they become so closely associated with that period in my life. As a result, I've been through a TON of perfumes! :rotfl:

I definitely want a specific, new scent for the wedding so that I don't put on perfume that morning and think something like "Gee, this smells like our trip to San Francisco!"

My problem is, I think my nose is screwed up or something - all the scents on the market right now smell like the same kind of fruity or the same kind of musky to me. I want something unique that won't break the bank - any suggestions?

See now, I just knew when I saw your excellent engagement photos on this board that you were cool enough to wear Jo Malone and I was right! :rotfl:

Maybe you could go with one of the 'old scents' like Sun Moon Stars or Giorgio or maybe even wear an essential oil rather than a mixed perfume? If you picked something like vanilla or lilac then everytime you make cookies or wash your hands with English soap you'll remember your big day? ... :rolleyes1 ... These suggestions could very well be crap. :)

You guys are so funny! I like the ideas of old-fashioned perfume/real smells that will remind me of the wedding later.

For preferences... I guess I like musk better than floral, and usually better than fruity. (Although I like pear. I wish Jo Malone would do something with pear!)But I don't want musk that's too heavy. I used to love the Body Shop's White Musk, but then I got a summer job there and now I can't smell any of their stuff without having flashbacks. :cutie:

My favorites that I can no longer wear (memories) are Comptoir Sud Pacifique Crystal du Musc and Philosophy Amazing Grace. Maybe there are some new ones out?

Its been almost a year now since my wedding and I cannot remember what I wore the day of my wedding. I know for sure it was either Ralph Lauren Romance or Laila

My favourite perfume ever is Chance by Chanel - it really is a gorgeous perfume... I still have half a bottle left over from Christmas as I only wear it on special occasions!

I want to have some type of perfume or scent on me for my wedding day, but I haven't been able to find a perfume, that doesn't smell like ALCOHOL :sad2: . Can you recommend one? I was going to go with the shower gel, spritz, and lotion of all the same scent :thumbsup2 . What a great thread!

For those of you who like Clinique Happy, did you know you could make a custom bottle?* I got this email today http://www.clinique.com/custom_bottle/index.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY4884&PRODUCT_ID=PROD12303

I think this is so cute! Too bad Armani Code doesnt do it!

WHAT A GREAT BRIDESMAID GIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i totally ignored that email when i got it! thanks kristen!!!

Very Cool!!! Too bad my girls wouldn't wear happy. I guess I'm the only one stuck on an 'old' scent, :rotfl:

I tend to get stuck on one scent and I stick to it for a long time. Right now it's Dior's Addict. Before that, it was Dior's Hypnotic Poison. I guess I really like Oriental, vanilla based scents. So warm and sexy!

You could just do the shower gel and lotion of whatever scent you like - those don't usually smell too alcohol-y. When I wear Jo Malone or Comptoir Sud Pacifique's body cream I don't even need the perfume version, they're that potent!

Also, real perfume, rather than eau de toilette, has less alcohol in it. I like to try all the swanky perfumes at Neiman Marcus and then buy testers/samples of them on eBay!

Hey guys speaking of perfumes, I just read that in your wedding bag (you know the neccessities) you should put your perfume on a cotton ball in a ziplock baggie, that way you can freshen up without taking the whole bottle---how clever!
