does anyone have a good recipe for wedding cookie favors? i know how to bake reasonably well and refuse to spend $3-5/cookie if i order them...

how long can these keep for? can i freeze them?

I have made large cookies on a stick that look nice with a clear wrap and colored ribbon. Wilton makes many pans including a Mickey mouse one. The recipe I use is a Chocolate chip made with Crisco instead of butter and a little extra flour to make them sturdy. I have made these for school for many occasions and they are always a big hit. They can freeze for a few weeks. If you would like more info just let me know. Here is a picture of the graduation ones I made for elementary school.

Not to completely change your mind, but what about brownies instead of cookies?

I am making these:

They are so simple and you can do it with your own favorite brownie recipe. I haven't decided if these are going to be favors for the wedding or just a fun snack for the open house the day before the wedding. I will be making them a day or two before, so I will not have any reason to freeze them. However, I am sure if you wrap them individually (so the powdered sugar doesn't spread or fall off) freezing them shouldn't be a problem.

Or have you considered doing chocolate candy lollypops? You could buy a mold, melt the chocolate, and add a stick to it. They are easy to make, last awhile, and taste delicious!

No Fail Sugar Cookies

Roll kind of thick, 1/4". I make them with marshmallow fondant on top. They freeze beautifully. I bake the cookies, put the fondant on while warm, cool, stack in ziploc bags with waxed paper between the layers. Take them out an hour before you decorate.

You may be able to freeze them decorated if you use royal icing. I personally haven't tried it, and don't know that I would for favors. They will be fresh for about 5 days after you take them out of the freezer...although most people probably wouldn't be able to tell if they were stale or not...
