wedding attire ? Tacky?

Buy the dress... and save it for the next wedding.

You know the old saying: if you have to ask, you probably already know the answer.

Since you have not purchased the dress and you think you might feel uncomfortable, I think you have your answer. Perhaps the store has the dress in a different colour. I'm thinking go with your gut. Don't buy that dress.

I may avoid the color knowing it's the bridesmaids color, but if you really love it and your BFF sees no problem with it, maybe its ok. Will you be in any family photos or anything? You may just blend in w/ the rest of the guests.

At my cousin's wedding (she was the bride), one of my aunts (not the MOB, but her sister), wore the exact same dress as the groom's mother. Neither had any clue. My aunt was so embarrassed she ran home to change before the reception started! :rotfl:

Is there a way to accessorise with a bolero, wrap or similar to add in another colour and mix it up so you are less likely to match the bridesmaids? That might allow you to feel less uncomfortable about the colour if otherwise you feel good in the dress.

I once went to a wedding where there was a teenage girl wearing a strapless white dress. It wasn't a long gown or anything but from a distance when I couldn't see all of her it had a bit of a bridal look. I'm not sure why her parents didn't suggest something else or at least that she put a coloured jacket over it or something.

I think I would ask your friend. I'm assuming she is the one who told you the color so ask her what she thinks. She would know the bride will have an issue, or maybe she will have an issue.

Not tacky at all.....unless you buy yourself a bouquet or slowly saunter down the aisle throwing rose petals.

Why would there be a problem with that? Have you ever seen any of the Youtube videos where the whole wedding party AND the celebrant suddenly start to boogie? Sauntering down the aisle throwing rose petals wouldn't even raise an eyebrow.

Wear what you like.

Wear what you want. I would, in no way, base my clothing choices on what anyone else might be wearing.

If no one else is in on it, and you're going rogue, it's probably going to come off as tacky.

I ordered the dress, and two more. It's actually called "rose" not coral. The picture looks coral. If it's really coral, I will send it back! I don't want to worry about it! Hoping I like another better.

I've never been to a wedding where I knew what the theme colors were beforehand so yes I've showed up once in a while with a similar color. So what! I can't imagine anyone notices or cares. Wear it and be happy.

Coral is a popular sping color. Chances are you wouldn't be the only one wearing that color. You're fine!
