DD got a Unicorn Shinging Star for her birthday yesterday. I have no clue what this is. Even after looking over the website, I see you can name a star, but is it like webkinz where you have a whole world?

Thanks in advance.

My daughter got one for Christmas & I was told it was like a Webkinz & its an Avon thing.

When we did hers - she got to name it, had a user name, could say what galaxy it was in, etc. I never say a "play" area for it thought. And I have never been back in there either.

She is not only into Webkinz, she has started into clubpenguin now too. Same thing except you don't need an actual stuffed animal. You pick your color penguin & the more you play the more "penguin money" you earn to buy things. But there are some things that only members can buy & you do have to pay to be a member.

DD had a TRU gift card from Christmas and insisted this was what she had to have. The star part was cool, but the whole game website was a total bomb! She played for about 10 minutes and then said she wished she would have bought something else. She's never asked to go back on and she gave the bear to the dog. :lmao: Stick with webkinz!;)

Shining Stars are knock off Webkinz. Avon doesn't make them, they are by Russ. They saw the Goldmine Ganz had going and jumped on the bandwagon. I actually think the animals are nice, but DD doesn't like them as well and if I'm not mistaken they were a few dollars more, although our Webkinz store just raised the price from $12.99 to $14.99!

My DD is a Webkins maniac. Last year when there was a shortage, one of her friends got her a Shining Star for her birthday. She signed up on the website and named her pet and hasn't been back since.

I agree that Shining Stars are a knockoff of Webkinz. If your child is "into" Webkinz, they won't like Shining Stars. Like the PP's have said, the web community just isn't as fun. However, I like the animals of SS better. The owl is super cute!
