After receiving wise counsel from the many DISers who responded to a similar post, "Weather wimps reconsidering Nov./Dec. plan" we have decided to stay with Plan A and go to WDW right after Thanksgiving.

Thank you for reassuring me that the benefits (compared to scorching hot, crowded summer visits) far outweigh any potential weather disappointments.

Having said that, a word of caution to all those planning a trip for Nov. 23 to Dec. 2. My track record with vacation weather is less than stellar. I am forecasting record lows for Orlando during our visit. Look for the family decked out in Paul Bunyan flannels and snowmobile suits.

You just made me laugh!!! I will be going the week after and it always rains when I go. Hummm which is worse. Have a great trip you will love this time of year it is definitely my favorite despite the magical weather that appears.

I'll be there the 17th-23rd, so just make sure you take the cold/bad weather with you when you leave. ;)

I'm going with the thought that it's not likely that FL will be colder than home, and being cold at Disney is better than being cold at home.

We will be there Nov.26th-Dec.7th and praying for good weather like 2004. We're from Northern WI so we'll be the ones in shorts, even if it is 50 :teeth:

See ya there,

Lory

Just remember - if it is 55-60 for highs in Orlando, you can bet the highs will be in teens or 20's in Wisconsin and Minnesota. More that likely it will be a good 5-10 degrees warmer than that anyway. I'll take 65 and sunshine any day.

never fear. we are going the 29th-4th. we always have nice weather. Yes it may be jeans/sweatshirts weather. Shorts for us as we are from the midwest and 50-low 60s is shorts weather for us.

well if its 50 degrees, we will be wearing jeans t shirts, and will have a sweater for night time. lol as coming from Ottawa, we will be coming from 15-20 'f weather. LOL it will be better than winter boots and coats and hats and mits.
however that said, in 2001 when dh and i went 1st week of december, it was about 80 degree every day, then the day we left it was COLD

I'll be making a solo visit to the World at about the same time (see below). And I have a very good record when it comes to hitting WDW during super weather. The weather in Florida never gets too cold, and during your visit it should be just fine.

I understand the point you are trying to illustrate, but here is what makes the Dec. trip a bit of a calculated gamble. The relative temperature difference between Orlando and Minnesota is inmaterial to me. Just being 30 degrees warmer than where I live isn't good enough to satisfy me. Not when I'm dropping the kind of money you do at WDW--I'm aiming a lot higher. I want it to be warm enough to enjoy the outdoor attractions and water rides without bundling up. I think the days will be fine even if in the mid-60s, but I am concerned about how cool the mornings and evenings might get.

Also, I know I'm in the distinct minority among all the tough cold weather conditioned Minnesotans, but anything short of the upper 60s for temps still does not qualify for "shorts weather."

Did you check the Farmers Almanac for that week in Fl before you plunked down your monies, LOL?

I was in Orlando first week in Dec. 2004, and it was awesomely in the 80"s everyday.

totally agree with this and have never understood why people say that :rotfl: true i want to escape the cold back home for awhile but why should it make me happy or sad to know they had 2 ft of snow or a record heat wave while i was gone , i wasn't there to feel either of it:confused3 :confused3

we don't do shorts in less than 70 and for us the decs. we went fit that bill.,,,but don't come after me with a crowbar if it happens you hit a blast of artic air that freezes the oranges :)

Ok you just made up my mind I'm staying home. :rotfl: Just kiddiing seriously does anyone know what the farmers almanac is predicting? Are they really usually right?

We were there last year week after Thanksgiving, and weather was not bad. We had light jackets in mornings, then stuffed them in backpack. Several evenings it was cool enought for layers, but I've been in summer and will take Nov/Dec weather. We rode everything we wanted and the only fastpass we needed was Safari.
