We cruised the Western at the beginning of last Sept. The weather was great. Just remember that there is no quarantee that you will get to Castaway Cay or any island on the itinerary. The safety of the passengers always comes first. That being said, I would never hesitate to sail in Sept. We are doing the 9/18 Eastern this year. Sept. and Oct. are our favorite months to cruise.
Weather in SEPT is great and since school is in there are less smaller ones on board, this being said, this will be our 3rd DCL cruise (1 in Sept, 1 at Christmas) and the 2nd for Sept and we have not made it to CC yet, the first time a hurricane wiped CC the next time wind and waves did not allow the capt to get the ship to dock
yes it is Hurricane season, we took one cruise and there was a hurrican out in the ocean and the capt made evenone aware and said that they would stay WELL clear of any adverse weather
Hurricane season is very long and the captain will take the ship away from any major storms. Major storms can happen anytime during the season. I cruised to Bermuda from NYC the week after Hurricane Andrew devastated south Florida. It was a delightful trip. One of my co workers cruised the Western out of Tampa last summer. There was a large tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico and they had to leave Cozumel and Grand Cayman early to avoid the storm. She said other than being a bit rough they had a great time.
I am confident that when I cruise on the Western this September 11 the weather will be marvelous!
