Hi guys,

I was thinking about maybe getting married in May 2012. Can anyone please tell me about the weather in May. Is there any school holidays? Is it more expensive than usual? Does it tend to rain more? Anything you can tell me about Disney World in may would be great! Thank you :goodvibes

Hi and Congrats!

We got married on May 1 and it was....fecking HOT. It hovered around 90 degrees the days up to and including the wedding.

Unless you like the heat, that's a different story!

I'm already thinking our vow renewal will be in OCT! I've been to WDW a few times now and I much prefer NOV to Sept or May.

It didn't really rain too much at all and the parks were not too busy at all.

All in all, one word to sum up: HOT! :rotfl:

We were having a very hard time taking pictures in the sun after the ceremony on the BoardWalk and Eoghan was dying in his tux! I didn't even have a big, heavy dress and I was still sweating my eyes out!

Hope I'm not throwing you off of your May wedding, it's just how it was for us...

Hi,

thank you! i appericate your honesty :goodvibes lol
we went in september last year, and i was ok in the heat, so should i maybe expect it to be around the same kind of weather and heat?

what about prices? Do you know if it is high or low season? :confused3

My daughter was married May 31, 2008 and the weather was warm, however the ceremony was in the evening at the Wedding Pavilion so being inside was not bad at all. It stays light longer since it is after daylight savings time has begun so taking pictures at 5 in the evening outside was not a problem. May is not as hot as the middle of July or August. One thing you might want to consider is this, hurricane season in Florida is from June lst to Nov. 30 so if you want a summer wedding you do have to worry about maybe a bad rain storm from a hurricane might hit Orlando and then you have to deal with the problems that come with it.

oh thats a great help, I'll maybe think of having the ceremony later in the day. I think i may might be the month for me :goodvibes

We have gone the last two Septembers too, it's too hot for me then though. May is suppossed to be cooler, but really even the end of April was in the 90's so it ended up being just about the same.

Just keep in mind your guests as well. My DH is from Ireland and his family who came over for the wedding had a very hard time in the weather and didn't enjoy themselves as much as they would have if they were more comfortable. (And they've been to Greece and Crete and love it, it's a different kind of heat than in Florida).

Anyway, the season I think is what Disney calls...."regular" season, which is between "value" and "high". I don't know if that helps you or not, but that's how they figure it.

If you're thinking about SBP, I wonder if the early time (10am?) is better for you before the heat of the day does it's job on the whole day? Just a thought...I'm not sure what kind of day you're planning though....

In any case, HTH!:goodvibes

Thank you :) Yeh i was thinking of my guests, and im very lucky because most of our guests came to scarlets wedding so we know if they can manage the heat. lol.

10am might be a better idea actually, just becuase everyone will feel more fresh and comfatable, and no one will try sneaking some park time in before the wedding and end up missing the limo lol

We almost always go at the beginning of May, and it's usually fairly empty in the parks. I'd consider it decent weather, although some years do get hot. The last two times we went then it was around 80-85 for a high. But it is all up to chance; my wedding forecast was around 65 average high, it wasn't much above 50 all week!

I'm doing May 2011... not really my first choice, but can't do it in March or April because i will be Student Teaching for school, and I don't want to push it any further, or do it during Hurricane season which begins in June. My first choice would be April, followed by March. May is not a month that typically gets a lot of rain, nor is it an expensive or busy time at the parks. Only downside is the heat, but we are doing a 5pm ceremony so hopefully it won't be too hot then. If you do choose May, or a summer month, I would just have the ceremony either early (10am or earlier) or late (5pm or later).

Honestly, the parks will not be bad at all in the beginning of May. I can recall going to Typhoon Lagoon and the longest like was like 10mins. A bonus about going in May, is also there will be the flower and garden show at Epcot. Plus, the only people who done with school will be all college students, so there shouldn't be as many large family trips planned in the beginning of May. The heat isn't that bad the beginning of May, but then again I've lived in Fl. my who life so I'm use to it.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

We have been twice in May- once at the beginning and once at the end. In early May- it was hot, parks were not very crowded. When we went at the end of May, it was hot but we had two days of rain since a tropical storm hit (Hurricane season begins June 1) and the parks were alot more crowded since many southern schools get out at the end of May.
