Im thinking seriously about going in Feb or early March with a friend, but have been thinking about what kind of weather do you usually encounter that time if year?

What would you pack for that time of year?

I went mid Feb this year. It was great, but you do need to pack twice as much as most other times!

We started out many mornings in coats and gloves--not ski parkas, but good jackets. By mid day we were in shirt sleeves--some days short sleeves, some days long sleeves. Some in our group were happy to leave sweatshirts on all day. (darn skinny people with no body fat to keep them warm! ) By late afternoon when the sun was going down the jackets would come back out. Long pants every day.

We didn't go to water parks, and only swam once in the middle of the day. I chose not to go on Kali River Rapids because I didn't want to be wet and cold, but the rest of my group of adults and kids did (I am a whimp!)

It was actually kind of funny because in the mornings the Lifeguards were patrolling the pool in long pants, coats, gloves and ski caps!!! And there were people swimming in the pool!

I am not a "heat" person, so I really liked this time of year, but I also had a stroller to keep the coats and gloves on when we didn't need them. Not sure I would want to lug them around all day.

Does this help any?

There's nothing much else to say...it can be warm and it can be cold. The cold weather usually doesn't last more than a few days, but there could definitely be days where the mornings are near freezing and afternoons are stuck in the 40s or 50s. On the other hand, you could have days in the 80s with cool mornings and evenings.

Just check the forecast before you leave---but be prepared for almost anything in the winter months!

It can get cold, but not as cold as it is in December. I went at the end of February in 2003 and it was pants & t-shirt kind of weather. At night it was nice to have a sweatshirt or light jacket.

That is the time of year that you honestly have to pack everything. Mornings are cold, afternoons are warm and some nights stay warm. Its a coin toss.

We were there 2 yrs ago in Feb and had days we wore tank tops and shorts and days where we never took our coats off.

We went in early feb last year. During the daytime it was nice but once the sunset, you certainly don't wanna be wearing shorts. We're going in late feb this year so it'll be interesting to compare but really, feb just really seems like one of those months that can really vary.

I would check the weather sites for averages and record highs and lows. Many folks say it got up in the 80's on their winter trip but I think that is rare, record breaking even. I would say plan on it being cool. I think cool is great for doing the parks, but we do not swim when it is that cool (hot tub, yes) so I wouldn't plan on doing water parks during that trip unless you are the polar bear type. I know the water is heated but it is never warm enough for us and you do have to get out at some point. Otherwise, Feb. is a great time to go :thumbsup2 !

Thanks everyone!!
I love that link to wunderground,thanks david r. :thumbsup2
Due to finding someone to help with the kids it looks like the girlfriend trip in feb may be pushed back to early march, but that might mean warmer weather. i guess Id pack the swim wear but just know that, that may or may not happen. Im sure that it will be a delight compared to Illinois weather at that time of the year. If we get to go looks like a large suitcase will be needed (as if that wasnt allready going to be the case :goodvibes )

:disrocks:

We have gone in Jan/Feb three times, and ditto to those who say it really varies. We had days that started out near freezing (there were frost warnings), and days that were close to 80 and we comfortably swam in our resort pool. So, pack for everything! We just took things that were easy to layer, and peeled off layers throughout the day. For the most part, the weather was gorgeous and quite comfortable - the two very cold mornings were, well, COLD, but we bundled up and enjoyed walking on rides with no waits for several hours!!!
