Weather in early may?

:guilty::guilty::guilty::guilty::eek::eek:
What are they? I have a legit bug-phobia.

If your phobia is triggered by looking at pictures of bugs on the internet, don't Google it. They are harmless, non-biting, non-stinging nuisance bugs. They sort of look like winged box elders with a head at each end. The swarms are mating, so they cling together rear to rear and fly around/swarm like that. It makes them look like two-headed bugs. They gather on light colored surfaces, especially freshly painted ones. The swarms are thick enough to splatter the heck out of your car when you're driving.

When we stayed at POP in September (apparently they have 2 mating/swarming seasons Spring and Fall) they swarmed all around our door and it was impossible to keep at least a few from getting into our room.

I didn't realize they swarm in late April-May as well until today. We'll be there 4/18 - 4/24 so I'm pretty bummed hearing the stupid Love Bugs will be out in force. During our September visit we didn't see them in the parks, but they were everywhere at the resort.

I didn't know these were there o.O We had a bit of box elders in our apartment when we lived in utah but never saw swarms o.o
Granted my cat kept our place pretty bug free lol

We'll be there may 2-5, so will probably run into these guys. Ech ... Swarms

Pretty warm, highs in the 85-90 degree range but not as humid as June through September when the rainy season kicks in.You could get rain but the rainy season usually begins in June or late May,that's when you start seeing the daily afternoon showers.Somebody compared it to October weather and that's pretty accurate, the biggest difference is that it's highly unlikely to get a cool day in May but October can start to see a day or two of cooler days late in October, but for the most part they're pretty similar, highs in the 85-90 range many days and the daily rain starts to arrive in late May while it goes away in mid to late October, they're definitely the transitional months.

We wear jeans/pants on our travel day since we fly from the midwest but shorts the rest of the week. We bring a light sweatshirt in case we need for humid mornings/evenings or air conditioning in buildings can get cool.

We always go last week of April or first of May and I seriously don't remember any lovebug issues. Maybe we go just before the swarms start? I'm seriously creeped out by bugs so I assume I would notice them lol!

We were there last year from May 3-10. When we arrived on May 3, the weather was just clearing up from a several-day bout of rain. Beginning on May 4, the sky was blue and sunny for our entire visit with not a drop of rain! It was hotter than I expected, up around 90 or 91 on several days. We definitely did not need jeans or long sleeved shirts, even at night. I did not see any love bugs, either! Of course, as previous posts indicate, weather (and perhaps insect infestations) are subject to be different from year to year.

Yes. We have seen the Love Bugs a few times in May as well. One year in particular they were out and about though we only saw heavy amounts of them at our resort Coronado Springs.

We've gone in late April/early May every year for the last 9 years.

The weather is hot, but not unbearable (high 80s - low 90s). It's a dry heat, too - not very humid. We've encountered very little rain. Maybe one or two late storms over the course of a 12-day stay.

It's a fantastic time to go, IMO.

hi how is the weather in early may? temps and does it rain a lot? thanks

Chance of rain and a certainty of Love Bugs.

Love bugs are most active in May and September.

I swore to avoid September because of the heat, my mom who is freaked out by bugs refuses to even discuss those two months because on our September trip they got in her hair. Legit freak out occurred and she wouldn't step foot on the Balcony the entire trip.

Usually when it rains in the summer down here, it is a passing afternoon downpour. I actually love it when it rains in the parks b/c it clears out the crowds. We just wait it out under cover or in an indoor attraction and then usually have less lines afterwards for a while.

Love bugs will smash all over your park, but we've never had an issue with them in the parks.

Love bugs especially like the exhaust from vehicles. If you are at an intersection, you can see you swarms of them around the cars and trucks. If you are driving down I-95 or I-75 as part of your trip to WDW, your windshield will be plastered by the love bug guts to a point where you can hardly see out the windshield!!

We will be there in 32 days. I have typical gone in Jan and Feb so I'm looking forward to both water parks being open and some warmer weather
