Weather in December?

What is the weather like in December? I have searched a few websites, and seen averages around 66-68 degrees. My husband is very concerned that it might be cold and/or rainy, so we are relying on you regulars to give us an idea how warm it might be. Would teeshirts with hooded sweatshirts and jeans be okay? Or would we be better off trying to put off our trip until spring?

We are trying to plan a long weekend trip to Disneyland. We were originally going to go in November, but I really want to ride the Matterhorn, so I am willing to wait until it is open to go. Also, I am very interested in seeing the christmas decorations. My husband suggested pushing it up to October, but then we don't have as much time to save $, and the 50th decor won't be there, and the Matterhorn will still be closed. :sad2:

I have been lurking on the Disneyland boards quite a bit lately, and have learned a lot from everyone. Thanks for all your help! :sunny:

December will be perfect. Unless it's raining it's actually not that cold in SoCal until January. I bought my girls pretty little shorts sleeve fall dresses for Thanksgiving this year. They ended up wearing shorts and tank tops because it was just too hot to make them wear the fall dresses even though they were shorts sleeve and only knee lenghth. I would think that during the day you'll want either shorts and a Tshirt or jeans and a Tshirt depending on the weather that day, and definatly a hoodie for morning/night.

December has always been perfect weather for us! Sweatshirts and jeans in the evening should be enough. In December of 2004 it was very warm. Last year it was just a little bit cooler and much more enjoyable! The Christmas decorations are gorgeous if you can do it then I would just avoid the weekend before school break and all through it. Becuase it is always busy then. October is also very nice, but usually they do more refurbs. this time of year and you may not want to miis Small World Holiday. Good Luck!

We went in December of 2004 and I had to buy short sleeve shirts, it was 85 degrees and sunny for 3 days straight. But the day we left it got chilly and windy. You never never know. Bring a little of everything, or you can just use it as an excuse to buy new shirts like I do!

I wonder if we were there the same week as you in 2004! We got there right after serious rain/cold and it got cold again after we left. I think it was the 10-14 if I remember right!

Matterhorn- Actually we were there the 17th -22 and it did get really bad a few days after we were there. But man it was so hot the whole time and we were not smart enough to follow the weather report and bring shorts. And of course we couldn't find any anywhere to buy in December.

The past 2 years it's been in the 80's most of December. It does get cool at nite though.

We've gone the past two years in December - the weather was perfect both times. We expected cold weather, but were able to get by comfortably with jeans and t-shirts.

December usually gets us 3 weeks of great weather and 1 week of rain or colder weather. It's just - we don't know when we'll get the rainy week.

We found it a little chilly mid-Dec 2005, but maybe we are just wimpy when it comes to the cold! (Texas will do that to you :sunny: ) We wore them in the mornings and evenings.

We were in need of some new lightweight winter jackets anyway, so I bought matching Marinac jackets from Lands' End. They are lightweight, but have "wind check" in them so they are less "breezy" than plain old fleece. They don't have much up on the website about them now, but I give them an enormous :thumbsup2 ! At the time, LE was running $1 monogramming, too, which made it extra great (we ALWAYS leave something behind--Lost and Found knows us well!). We bought ours in red, so the joke of the day was "The Redcoats are coming!" :rotfl2:

I knew the weather was a crapshoot, but we erred on the side of caution.

HTH!

Thanks so much for that trip weathe rplanner, I was sure to put that on my favorites. :thumbsup2

I think the December weather in Anaheim is very unpredictable! We were there in 2004 in the beginning of the month and it was cold and it rained the whole time. The day after we left it was sunny and 80 degrees, then about a week later it rained again. We also went last year in October and it was raining. From now on we are just going to pack for both rain and sun!

Thanks so much! I especially like that weather planning website- someone had posted it once on the WDW boards, and I couldn't remember where I found it.
What weekend does school get out for christmas? We are looking at either Dec 6-10 or Dec 13-17. I know schools in Indiana won't get out until the 20th, but I wasn't sure about California.
You all are very helpful. We will probably take a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, then tees and a hoodie, just to be prepared.
