We did a cruise in January and the weather at Castaway Cay was warm enough to enjoy and the water was nice, but I wasnt sure if this is standard or not. We are thinking of doing one mid-February and wanted to see what other folks' experience was with the weather and it being warm enough for the pool on board and for Castaway Cay.

Thanks!

The air temperatures in the Bahamas in February are typically 66 in the morning to a high of 75 during the day. Water temps will be in the low 70's as well. Any rain that happens is usually in the early morning hours and late evening so at least you wouldn't have to worry about that.
Those temperatures are really too chilly for this Florida girl, but to someone coming from snow and ice, it would feel really nice. :)

We had cool temps in Bahamas a few times now between Nov and Feb. The high was 70, even high 60's. Morning cooler and when it was cloudy cooler. For us it was just too cool to swim. I mean it was warm, but not warm enough. Many people had long sleeves on. We didn't care as long as it didn't rain, but it did a couple of times.
I think you may get temps in the mid 70s occasionally, but winter weather in the Bahamas can be a mixed bag. Kind of like Florida.

We live in the mountains of WV and cruised this past February. While we loved the day time weather, I had a warm shawl on while on the deck at night. We found the pool water nice, but the water at castaway cay was too cool for us.

I actually sailed on the Magic the week that you are likely talking about. :) It was President's Day week in 2015. The air temperatures at Castaway Cay were perfect. I couldn't have been happier. The water temps....that was another story. I am originally from Wisconsin (now FL for 10 years), but I can understand your thoughts about coming from temps in the 40s, but keep in mind that low 70s in the water is COLD no matter where you are from...and you surely won't have been swimming outside in February back home. We couldn't hack it. DS took the teen excursion on CC and they snorkeled. He had a good time, but agreed it was VERY cold. DH and myself could not handle anything more than ankle deep wading and DD (8 at the time) made one run out on Pelican Plunge and said enough was enough. LOL. We had an amazing time, but it was definitely more beach day than water fun day. The pool on board should be fine though.

We sailed Presidents Day week in both 2014 and 2015. In 2014 we made it to CC and had beautiful warm weather. Although I usually don't go in the water, many people were in it. In 2015 we did not make it to CC and went to Nassau instead. It was cold. It was so cold they were giving out blankets by the pool on the sea day before we were supposed to be at CC and on the day we ended up in Nassau. We usually enjoy drinks out on deck but even with jeans/sweatshirt and the blanket the wind just made it too cold and I had to go inside.

So my point is it can really go any way. ;)

Wow! That is so crazy! I suppose it may have been that you were scheduled for CC earlier in the week, where CC was our final stop, but what a difference in the weather for two cruises around the same time, the same year.

I just read your post. That is wild! I double checked that I had the right year, LOL! We were on the 5 night Wonder out of Miami so it was Thursday we were scheduled there. I know the Capt had made an announcement on the sea day that we were going full speed ahead to try to get to CC before a front that would likely prevent us from docking. Later that day we came across Cubans in a "boat" near us so then we had to stay by them until the Coast Guard arrived which took a few hours and then in the end we didn't make it. Maybe that "front" had something to do with the changing weather.

I was on the Fantasy Presidents' Week in 2015, and there was definitely a weather front (no quotations needed...weather fronts are real things) moving through that was partly due to the polar vortex going on along the eastern seaboard of the US coast. We barely made it into CC, I honestly thought we weren't, but Commodore Tom VERY SLOWLY maneuvered us into the channel and we did get there - a tad late, but we made it. The morning was pretty raw - I curled up on a hammock on Serenity Bay bundled in a hoodie and my beach towel around my legs and read for a little while. By shortly after lunch I was pretty well done - about the time the weather got a little warmer and better, of course.
