ok ok i know its alittle early -- lol -- just wondering what the weather is like in early dec?? thanks a million!!

We went a couple years ago and wore jeans and tshirts, jackets at night, shorts our last day.

We went this past December and wore shorts a couple days, jeans the rest.

You can check the weather history at wunderground.com

We were there the second week of Deceber 2005 and I did wear shorts a few days but I was the only one in our family. By Friday of that week people were wearing parkas.

We were there 11/29-12/5/05 and were only able to wear shorts during the first 2 days & had to wear jeans at night. The rest of the week was so cold that we had to wear jeans, sweatshirts, and jackets. We were only able to swim one day.

This past Nov/Dec trip--'05--we wore jeans--(I add here we are not a shorts family, even in the 100 degree heat! :teeth: )-- & brought sweatshirts for the evenings. The guys swam just about everyday. Note: we are from New Hampshire where 55 degrees is considered shorts weather :goodvibes
the same period for '04, I've had 2 families tell me they had to go out & buy mittens & coats--1 family was from Minnesota!--so it can vary
I did pack some of those stretchy gloves for us & we figured, if it got cold, we could all buy another sweatshirt-but both Nov/Dec trips we've had mild weather

I've gone that time several times and it can vary widely. There were days in the 50's and days in the 80's. Normal is low to mid 70's. Little rain, although one year we had 24 hour downpours twice. If it's below 70 during the day, it gets very cold at night. A couple of times I have taken a light winter coat & gloves.

That's our experience too. We've had everything from 80 to 50. Shorts to jackets. We did have a couple rainy, cruddy days last Dec. Packing for Dec (or any winter month) in FL can be a real challange. You need a bit of everything.

Definitely some of the cooler times in early December out of all of the trips we've taken....HOWEVER, SOOOOOO worth it, no lines....sometimes the Fastpass machines are not even up and running since there are not enough people to justify them!!! You picked a great time to go!

So I can pretty much see right now that we are not likely to get by with just carry-ons for our quickie Dec. trip. :teeth:

I am a horrible overpacker anyway, so the chances of us doing carry-on only were already pretty slim. We've been in January and I didn't wear shorts at all. One of those days was COLD and misty - we wore polar fleece pullovers, gloves, and hats. World Showcase in the mist is very unpleasant, as is AK in the pouring rain. Plan accordingly!

I looked up that website, and it looks like there is quite a range, with the average being in the 60s. I guess you'll be packing shorts, jeans, t-shirts, and sweaters!

We're from the midwest and have learned to EXPECT ANYTHING as the weather goes in off-season Orlando.
We always pack winter and summer-wear.
In Dec/Jan/Feb we have even worn LONG THERMAL UNDERWEAR (after sundown)... we now pack it for any off-season trip.

Typical day:

Cool outside at 7am.
Wear shorts and Tee's.
Over that add a thin nylon wind-breaker
We put our "chilly-wear" and RAIN ponchos in a back-pack.
(Rain ponchos are REALLY cheap in hunting section of discount retailers.
You can buy BIG THICK ones to allow covering large jackets... more later.)

"Chilly-wear" is a nylon cotton-lined warm-up suit with zipper legs and a cotton-lined windbreaker.
We buy OVER-sized in these so they can easily be put on OVER other clothing.
After standing in the sometimes chilly "early-entry" lines we can usually take off the wind-breakers.
We always rent a locker at the park(s) and leave our "chilly-wear" in the locker 'til sun-down.
If it looks like rain (in Florida? Who'da thunk?) we take the Ponchos.

Much later, if its a warm night, we're just fine in the shorts.
If it turns windy/cool... we can visit the locker and choose which level of "chilly" OVER-WEAR to add to our clothing.

If it turns really COLD (windy 30's-40's not unheard-of at certain times of the year) we can make a restroom trip and slide-on the long underwear... OR... we can even add the final outer-layer of the RAIN ponchos (with their HOODS)... OVER everything else.
That trick (along with ear-muffs and gloves) has allowed us to "comfortably" stay and enjoy Fantasmic! or IllumiNations when others (less-prepared) have been "frozen-out."

:offtopic:
We do only carry on for all trips, which often last up to 14 days. This of course, if you don't mind doing laundry :teeth: Since DH is a doll  & a wicked early riser, he nips down to the washing machines & throws a couple of loads in.
When staying DVC it's a simple thing to throw in a load or two.
I used to be an overpacker, so you can overcome! :goodvibes

Call the airlines & find out the luggage sizes you are allowed. Be sure to measure yr carryon after it is filled. I'm surprised at how large a carry on is allowed-
You can also post a package to your WDW resort. Just be sure to include your resort name & dates of stay on the outside, as well as all info on the inside of the package. Should the CM be unable to find it, have them check Lost & Found-
Some folks like to use Space Bags, or similiar. Our bags do not require a vacuum to suck out air. Hey, we can even pack a favorite pillow in those things :goodvibes

Well, we go in December every trip and it changes year to year...our last trip two years ago was pretty nice....could wear shorts in the day, but in the evening it was pretty cool, so definitly needed jacket. It rained one day, but ended pretty quick. When we went four years ago, it was freezing!!! we did not pack any warm clothes, so we ended up spending a fortune for gloves and sweatshirts at the parks. The gloves I bought (cheap, stretch gloves you can get for $2 at walmart), cost me $9 at the park. Yikes!!!

Ok we are going 11/25-Dec2 I checked the history for Orlando and most of the days were in the 70's evenings colder. Now I think of 70's as swimming and shorts weather but I have to say I'm getter nervous with everyone saying they wear jeans and no swimming. Is weather underground wrong? Or is it just because I'm from New York that I think 70's is warm? Sorry I'm just trying to figure out what to expect and if I should pass on the water park option. Thanks. :confused3

Yes it can get nippy in Dec. Be prepared with some warm clothes.

we have been to wdw in the first wk of Dec a number of times and it has always been changable. our kids have gone swimming in the pools but one night it got down to 35 or so( in the middle of the night, so one night out of the more than 30+ nights we have been there in Dec :) ) don't recall ever needing jeans all day, usually a sweatshirt or light jacket with capris/ shorts was fine for early morning and late evening. i think the weather is much warmer than in Jan( our last couple trips) when we have worn jeans all day a few times. if you want to swim just do it on a warm day in case it gets cold later in the trip

i think you can ugrade to the water park option once you get there...if so i'd wait and see what it's like then..pools have been fine but that is different than running around wet all day...last trip( mid jan) a nor'easter came through and the temps plummetted so you just never know.( that was our jeans during the day trip:) ) our kids have never gone to one of the water parks so we are planning on early nov. this time but i still am going to wait till we get there if i can
