hi everyone :wave:
what is the last week of august 1st week september like in terms of crowds and weather? it is getting very close to 2nd march when i can book our trip :cool1:

thank eve ::MinnieMo

September and the second half of August are typically really good for crowds.
However, Labor Day weekend falls right in the middle of the period you'll be there (Labor Day is the first Monday in September). Typically these long weekends have higher crowd levels at WDW. Despite this, of all the Monday holiday weekends, in my experience Labor Day is the least crowded since parents are hesitant to take their kids out of school for even one day extra at the beginning of the school year.

In other words, I'm saying that the crowd level will be relatively good during the two weeks you'll be there (though it might surge during that weekend).

As for weather, it's still very hot and humid though not quite as unbearable as July.

We have been at the end of August and found the crowds very manageable with careful planning and the use of Fastpass.

The weather was hot, humid and wet!

It's usual to get an afternoon thunderstorm during the hot, humid summer months. This usually last for a hour or so. While we were there in 2003 the rain tended to start early afternoon and carry on into the evening on quite a few days :(

It didn't really bother us that much - we just put on our ponchos and carried on as normal - typical British :)

I would agree with Beth and Tim based on what we found last August - the crowds are not bad at all but the weather very hot.

ok thank you for your replies :thumbsup2 we have only been in october and november before and don't know what to expect, we are picking this time of year now because youngest will be just starting secondary and the elsdest will be going into year 11 in secondary and we don't really want to take them out of school now
thanks again eve ::MinnieMo

I think you just need to take it easy and try and visit the parks at cooler times of the day, for us never has the 'get there early break for lunch and return in the evening' plan been more advisable.

I would suggest a few rest days to re-charge your batteries also.

The heat does take it out of you, but at least it won't be very crowded, we had no problem getting on the rides last year.

We usually go around the end of August Eve for the reasons you are planning this time period.

We may have been lucky but our experience was that the rain wasn't too awful (we weren't there in 2003 though like Tim). It rained torrentially for about 30 mins to an hour most days at about 2ish.

The crowds were pretty manageable but it is extaordinarily hot and humid. The thunderstorm (when it happens!) is always a blessed relief ;)

So far that has been my favourite time to visit - really low crowds, apart from the holiday weekend!
I did`nt find the heat and humidity too bad - certainly it was manageable but then we did spend alot of time at Typhoon Lagoon.

I really enjoy going at the end of summer hols.

I agree with whats been said already - crowds are very managable. Weather is humid and the afternoon thunderstorm is actually very refreshing. It really clears the air. :sunny:

We used to joke that you could set your watch by the 3pm thunder storms!
:goodvibes

hi
thanks again for all your advice :) i'm definatly going for this time of year now because yesterday we had parents evening with my eldest and he has to now pick his options for year 10 in september and his teachers and the carrers woman said from now until he leaves school he has to really work hard and know what he wants to do when he is older and so i really don't want to be dragging him out of school in october (even though it will only be a week)i would feel very guilty if he fell behind with his school work :guilty:

I love going at this time of year, the weather is fantastic, nice and hot with the occasional rainstorm to cool everyone down. If you get to the theme parks early you'll find that you can walk on to most rides, and by the time the crowds begin to turn up you'll have done a good portion of the major rides. I'm on the verge of booking my nex trip also, can't wait to get that new Virgin brochure!!!

We will see you there ;) We have been a few times at that time and I will emphasize what many have already said, i dont think it can be said enough LOL :)

Get out of bed early and be there for open. Get out of the parks after lunch, and go back late afternoon. The heat will tire your party out if you try to do much in it.
