Wearing a Fitbit while walking Disney?

I will be wearing my Garmin Vivofit in June. Doesn't need to charge and has the time on it. Love it!

oh man...I'm going to have to up my daily steps to be ready for all the walking in October. I can't wait to see how many steps we get!

I wore a Garmin forerunner in February with my mom. We averaged between 24-25 a day with our lowest being 15k on arrival day (got to park at 3)

DH wore his Fitbit to DLR this past March. One day he did 33,500 and another 31,700. He says he'd classify both of those as "light" days, since we have 3 young kids (including an infant) and took a lot of breaks (although we do go from morning until close).

We went to WDW last May and he logged over 30k each day there, but I was 27-28 weeks pregnant, so we also took it slow with a lot of breaks (including at least one table service adr a day). When everyone's in peak condition, he logs around 40k a day at WDW.

(The most he's ever logged was 43,850 in a single day. Daily avg is 20k. He's never logged less than 10k in a day, but he runs and always takes the stairs, etc.)

We averaged 20,000 steps a day ... and we had some light days with park breaks each day at the resort for a nap or a swim (where the fitbits were off). We stayed at the Boardwalk and the rooms have several USB ports that can be used for charging. There were two on the nightstand and two or three on the "dresser" ... there were electrical outlets along side the ports so we could charge cameras, phones and the fitbits all at the same time ... just brought the charging cords with and we were all set!

That's impressive. We have done 35,000 step days at WDW and on some other hiking type vacations. I love wearing my Fitbit at WDW.

My best day at Disney World was 36,000 steps. It was a solo one day visit when I took time off after a business trip. I started at Animal Kingdom for a half day, went to Magic Kingdom thorough the afternoon and on impulse decided to hop over to Epcot to explore the Food and Wine Festival (including walking through Future World and at least two full circles around World Showcase). I got a surprising amount of walking done, not having to worry about anyone else in tow. I didn't even realize the number of steps until I got back to my hotel room and saw the number there.

We wore them everyday at our recent trip to the World and averaged 18,000 to 22,000 steps per day! It's certainly a LOT of walking! Wear your best walking shoes!!

It swear it depends how new your FitBits are. My FitBit is about 5 years old. One of the earliest verisions. My husband and girlfriend both have ones purchased within the past year. Last fall my friend and I both walked the exact same pace/path and she averaged about 4K steps more than I did. In March my husband was always about 4-5K steps ahead of me at the end of the day as well. Either I have a really long stride (unlikely...I'm about 5'4) or the older FitBits aren't as sensitive as the newer ones.

Also, I averaged between 25-35K steps per day with my FitBit.

When I had mine on last trip we averaged about 25k per day. One day it said we did about 31k and I thought that was a little high till we thought about what we did and how long we were in the parks for.

We walked about 33 miles over 4 days last weekend per my FitBit... and ran 22.4 miles between the 3 races... :faint:

I don't pay attention to number of steps, so cannot say. :)

Sort of related question about FitBits in the parks. How do you handle the magic band with a FitBit or similar device? Not wear a watch? Wear both magic band and FitBit on one wrist?

I used my smartphone the last two trips to measure my steps, but wasn't sure how accurate it was. I hit 25,000 one day which was pretty amazing for a person with a sedentary lifestyle. :)

We did 5 park days in the first week of April and my Apple Watch said we did 97,000 steps in those five days.

I don't remember the steps but it was 13-16 miles per day. I was surprised. We do rope drop til closing. No wonder I am tired when we get to the hotel.

No kidding...I did not know that's how to charge it. Do I have to bring the "sync doggle," too?
It will sync to your phone using Bluetooth.
But, in order to charge it, you need the cable part that you would plug into the computer USB port on one end and the Fitbit on the other end to charge it.
To charge it, you would plug the USB side of the cable into the USB on your charger instead of the computer.

I had between 18k and 25k of steps on our last trip. Even managed to get 8k of steps on our break day where we pretty much did nothing but have breakfast and dinner. Surprisingly enough it was the two MK days that had the most steps, I was expecting it to be EPCOT.
