We won..... Update post #27

We won a 3 day stay but had to go to a timeshare presentation. All it cost us was our gas. It was a 1 1/2 hr drive from home, we packed all our groceries, enjoyed the weekend, went to the presentation, told them we were not interested because we already had a summer place, and drove home. It was a lovely free weekend away. My thoughts are to go, enjoy, be aware of the sales pitch to come, and return home invigorated and relaxed.

Thanks for the concerns but I have read the fine print. A 90 min presentaion is all we have to do and it states you are under no obligation to buy anything. I also know for a fact that not everyone who entered the raffle won since we had others with us who also entered. I am not stupid and would not be posting this otherwise. It is amazing to me how other people always have negative things to say. I guess I will go back into lurkdom. :sad2:

Nah, don't go back into lurkdom. That's no fun. We want you here.:goodvibes

Please check first regarding the monetary value of these items. The taxes owed could possibly knock your socks off. :scared1:

I wasn't going to say this, but it was in the back of my mind.

OP, I hope everything turns out ok for you.

I've actually won the same deal if it's the presentation thru Colonial Williamsburg. Our conversation was about exactly the same as the one posted. Stay at the hotel, not the condo has poor reviews. The hotel is actually very nice & $10 tax per night (not mentioned on the phone), good breakfast & nice outdoor pool. We did pay a $75 deposit. The presentation is actually about 3 hrs long. We got a $125 visa card at the end to which the deposit is also put on. You don't get that cash back. Hello outlet mall. The Orlando certificate required a mail in deposit of $100 and requested dates within 12 months so I didn't use it. I'd do it again for a cheap vacation.

Thanks! We are looking forward too it. I will report back with how it goes. I expect the presentation to be longer but I have no problem being assertive and saying No. I am looking forward to spending time up there. I have tried to get my husband to go there for more than a day trip to Busch Gardens. This way we can. They provide me a place to stay, I do their presentation. Win Win.

As long as you know everyone "wins" (dd, her boyfriend, her cousin and her cousins friend all "won" a similar trip when they filled out a form at a hockey game) and you are willing to deal with the time share BS... then have fun....

Personally I would not want to deal with the timeshare stuff...

Hotels in Williamsburg are pretty cheap and Orlando is even cheaper. Not worth sitting through a three hour sales pitch

So we went this weekend. We were put up in a condo with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, fireplace, etc. We did not have to pay anything out of pocket except gas. The presentation was 95 min. We were not pressured at all to buy. We were given our gift card and voucher to Orlando no problems. It was a great weekend. We enjoyed the area. We did come home early last night because they were calling for snow. All in all it was a great weekend getaway. So for all of you that claimed "scam" it was not. We were given everything we were promised.

Ds12 insisted on entering a raffle at a sporting event - and of course we "won." Those people wouldn't leave me alone! Everyone "wins" - all of his friends got called, too. DH even told them we're not interested, but they persisted on calling at least once a week.

I'm so glad to hear that it was everything you expected. :goodvibes
