So it was maybe around 14h30 and everybody is feeling hot and cranky. We decided that maybe the best plan was to maybe go back to the hotel and put Beatriz down for a nap and come back to MK later to enjoy the park in the evening.
On our way out we decide to do a little detour at
Adventureland for a Dole Whip. On our 2009 trip we never got to try one because our Magic Kingdom day was a rainy one. So this was the perfect opportunity. When we got to
Aloha Isle I managed to grab a seat outside and sent Joey to buy our stuff while I prepared a nice "bottle" of milk for Beatriz.
Unfortunately at the very last minute I had a change of heart and asked him to get me a citrus swirl instead. I don't know why but I thought it was going to be a little like an orange sorbet, an orange version of a Dole Whip. Instead it was a creamy ice cream that did not hit the spot at all.

As a matter of fact it ended up in the garbage after a couple of bites.
Joey offered to go get me a pineapple dole whip but the line was long and I just took a couple of more bites from his. I will know better for next time.
So we finished our refreshments, put Beatriz in the stroller and decided it was time to leave. Beatriz fell asleep immediately and was completely gone before we hit Main Street. Now we were once again forced to take a decision.
At this point I was afraid of waking her up by taking her out of the stroller into the bus. I did not want to risk having her waking up with a second wind of energy by the time we reach our hotel room. AND I was starting to think if we leave the park we might just be too lazy to come back.
By now the afternoon parade was about to start and I suggested that we would just stay and watch it. We had never seen that one (it was canceled because of the rain in 2009) and we could just seat and rest our feet for a bit. Joey agreed. He found a corner in the shade and he stayed there with Beatriz while I found a spot for me on the curb under the scorching sun.
The parade was great! Too bad Beatriz missed it. I am sure she would have enjoyed all the characters.
Sorry about the quality of the pictures. Joey stayed with the camera and he took them from his far away spot using the zoom.
So after the parade we decided to do something we hadn't done on that trip yet: shopping!
We are not huge shoppers but we could use some air conditioning so we did the tour of the shops on Main Street and I got some souvenirs for some friends back home. Joey got himself a t-shirt and I even managed to get myself a nice hoodie. I tried to find a picture of it at the
Disney Store website but couldn't find it. Can't seem to be able to find a picture of myself wearing it either.
While we were shopping I started chatting with a CM and he asked me where we're from. When I said Montreal he said he used to visit Montreal often when he was a kid because he grew up in upstate NY in a town called Plattsburgh. He asked me if I had ever heard of it and I had to laugh. Plattsburgh is only 45 minutes away from my house and we go down fairly often because they have some essentials we don't find here like.... Target and Olive Garden .
When we were done shopping we felt the wonderful perfume coming from the MS Confectionery and we were immediately pulled inside. We were starting to get hungry again so we decided to share one of these.
Apparently the MKC is one of the few remaining places where you can get one of those with a snack credit.
Anyways, with Beatriz still sleeping we just wandered around talking and people watching for a little bit since none of us were really interested in taking this time to go on a thrill ride by himself.
I know. We are boring people.
Before long, Beatriz was up again and boy what a difference a nap makes. She woke up all mellow and in a good mood. Ready to go see Belle at the
Storytelling time with Belle.
I thought this show was intimate and super cute and probably the best interaction between a princess and the audience in the entire WDW. Beatriz drank it up. She was entranced by Belle the entire time and it was perfect for her age.
I would say older kids might enjoy it even more specially if they get picked to play a character on stage. They also pick a dad to play the Beast and I have to say Joey would have made a nice Beast but he did not get picked.
Too bad this attraction is not there anymore. I hope they will have something similar on the new Beauty and the Beast land at
Fantasyland.
At the end of the show Beatriz got to take her first picture of the trip with a princess and she LOVED it!

That is when we realized her problem was with the masked characters but she was totally digging the princesses.
