We took the plunge (was why does OKW tend to be cheaper...)

What OKW has that BCV and BWV don’t

Two beds in studio (or in second bedroom)
Larger rooms
Parking outside villa door
Golf nearby
Its own bus system (not shared with other resorts)
Boat transportation to Downtown Disney
One restaurant
Side-by-side washer/dryer
Poolside laundry for studio dwellers
Just a FYI, BWV also has a laundry room located by the main pool. The vast majority of WDW resorts have laundry rooms located by the pool, the main difference is the laundry rooms at the DVC resorts are free.

One thing to consider if you are buying at OKW is that the convenience of parking at your front door or down the street from it depending on the location of the villa, is that if you get an upper floor unit you will have to lug your luggage and groceries up there by yourself. Some units have elevators but most do not. Obviously if you have a bad back this might be a problem if you don't request a ground floor unit. We had this problem when our friends got an upper unit and we had to lug their stuff up there for them because they couldn't and a ground floor unit was not available. If you are healthy then the upper floors have the better views.

While always lugging the stuff myself, I would suppose one could simply call bell services for help and tip accordingly. Even if it is to help unload your car.

or, you could try requesting one of the newer buildings that have elevators. There aren't many of those. I think they're all numbered in the 60s somewhere. I stayed in 64 once and it had an elevator.

Found what we considered to be a great OKW resale on The Timeshare Store web site this weekend (December use year, all 2003 points to be banked as as part of the contract, all 2004 points avaiable). Called Pat on Saturday afternoon and are expecting the initial paperwork tomorrow!

This is our second purchase since mid-March, the other being at BWV (2 bedroom reserved at OKW the week of 10/16, waitlisted at BWV)! Although our 15 year old still loves WDW, he is definitely at any age where he'd rather not hang with mom and dad most of the time -- it's great being able to take a "bud" or another relative along for him!!

It literally took us 10 years to take the plunge (the money we've spent on trips to WDW and DCL would have more than paid for one of these resales) -- oh well, better late than never, right??!?! We appreciate all the input everyone provided and feel we've made the right decision. We look forward to all the valuable insights on this discussion board...

Wow! You've found a great contract! Congratulations!

Thanks Bobbi:

We lucked out -- the listing was new and we just happened to be the first ones to call! The seller lives in Chile, SA, so we were told it may take a few extra days but no problems foreseen!

You must be excited -- looks like you have a WDW trip coming up VERY soon. Have fun -- but how could you not??

DH and I often take weekend trips. The change we have made regarding WDW is that now instead of taking Fridays off, DH will be taking the Monday off, so we get in late on Friday, stay offsite on Friday and stay through Monday at DVC. I usually have a Tuesday/Thursday work schedule so it "works" for us. Actually this is our first trip using this idea.

Wow, finding a seller from SA, that's unusual. Our son has worked in Venezuela since September '03.

We are members of OKW and love it. We have at times considered add-ons at other disney locations, but have always decided against this because we don't think we would like any of the other properties any more than OKW. We love the more residential/community feel of OWK as here there are smaller individual buildings instead a few very large buildings that feel like hotels. Also the landscaping is beautiful and the whole place has a very relaxing more homey feel to it. This is just our opinion, some people like more hustle and bustle than us. What ever you decide, good luck and have a great time.
