"We survived Spring Break at Disney and lived to write a dining review" Complete 5/22

I should totally not be reading this while hungry as that is infinitely dangerous for my already expanded waistline.

Glad you all enjoyed Trader Sams (almost wrote Joe's totally have food and groceries on my mind). We couldn't get inside when we last visited so I'm looking forward to some Poly time on our next trip so we can check out all the shenanigans.

Those potatoes at CP look delicious and if they were anything like Akershus than they definitely were!

Great reviews! I really like how you start each entry with the date, restaurant and what type it is.

Great food photos! Your review and photo of the pork chop at Sunshine Seasons is making it a must meal on our trip!

I am thinking about a trip next March about the same week you went. So are the Spring Break crowds as crazy as the summer months?
It sounds like you still managed to get things done along with breaks at the resort even with the crowds.

Definitely check out Sunshine Seasons! The pork chop was fabulous!

I've only gone to Disney during the summer once- July- as an adult and told myself NEVER again. I know we ONLY went to Disney in the summer when I was younger but I guess as a kid you don't remember how hot and crowded it is. Spring Break was very crowded- level 8-10 every day according to crowd calendars but honestly it wasn't bad at all. Even with it being unseasonably hot, the weather was way better than summer- not as humid and definitely not as wet. March is our favorite time to go to Disney and living in Texas, our spring break usually falls during the 2nd week of March- not around Easter.

Date: 3/20/2016
Restaurant: Ohana
Location: Poly
Meal Type: Breakfast

This was our last full day at Disney and we had planned one of our favs for breakfast- Ohana! We are a family of Stitch lovers so Ohana is a MUST!

We arrived at around 815am for our 830am ADR and we were seated right on time. Our cousin took us and a couple that would be at the table next to us into the restaurant together.

First we got sweet breads-The kids attacked this basket before I could take a picture or even get a taste of the bread.

Then we got some fresh fruit-

Followed by this-

Scrambled eggs, stitch waffles, mickey waffles, potatoes, sausage, and bacon

Basic breakfast but delicious! I've read mixed reviews about Ohana but honestly we have NEVER had a bad meal there. The breakfast is always hot and fresh. I love that it's served family style. The wait staff is attentive and very friendly. I'd say the same about dinner too.

Then we met pluto-

Lilo-

And, Stitch-

As always, Ohana was great! The kids had a blast participating in the little parade/dance around the restaurant with the characters.

Date: 3/21/2016
Restaurant: The Mara
Location: AKL
Meal Type: Lunch

Departure day :(:(:(:(:( Our flight wasn’t leaving until 530pm so MDE pickup was 230pm. We did not have park tickets for today and we didn’t want to do Disney Springs again so we decided to go and check out a resort and have lunch somewhere new.

We checked in our luggage and dropped our carry ons off with bell services so we didn’t have to worry about those. We decide to check out AKL since we had never been there. We took the monorail to MK and then bus to AKL. WOW- it really is a beautiful resort. The lobby is just amazing! We wandered around the grounds and the kids played on the play grounds.

We decided to have lunch at The Mara. By this time we were in a bit of a hurry so I don’t have any pictures of our food. I know the kids shared chicken nuggets which were the same chicken nuggets at every Disney restaurant.

I have no idea what DH had… but, I had a carved turkey sandwich which was very very good! The turkey was delicious and very thickly cut. Very good meal!!

And of course we had to try these-

Zebra Domes!!! This was our first time trying them (I know I know I’m a horrible person). I have no idea what they are- like white chocolate covered chocolate-ish cream inside? I thought they were great! DH did not care for them at all.

After a really good lunch at The Mara, we had to book it over to the bus stop- by this point it was already 120pm!! The MK bus was of course running late!

We finally got on the bus to MK, walked to the Contemporary, and got our carry on bags from bell services right at 230pm- lucky for us, our MDE showed up a little after 230pm!!

I thought AKL was really amazing but I don't think I'd ever stay there. It just seems too far away... is it really? Probably not... but I swear the bus rides seemed to take forever!

This concludes my very first dining report! Thanks to all for following along!! I hope you enjoyed reading. Unfortunately I did not keep track of how much was spent on dining (note to self- track next time)- we did go with around $1500 in giftcards to use for dining and spending and we didn't spend much over that so I'd say we did well!

Fantastic reviews! I love Animal Kingdom Lodge. We've stayed there and the villas several times and were very happy every time.

To us, even though it is a few minutes further away from some of the parks, the resort made it worthwhile!

Your trip sounds wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us!!!

Thank you for your reviews! I enjoyed reading about your experiences, and your kids are so adorable. Sounds like you had a great time!
I was really glad to learn about Karamell Kuche. My DD craves caramel, and I know this will be someplace we have to hit next time!
We love the Yorkshire Fish Shop, too. It's delicious! DH and I got our own, and I'm glad because I wouldn't have wanted to share. We also like Les Halles. The sandwiches are yummy, and my kids enjoyed the desserts there.

Congrats on your DVC purchase! How long was your tour, and how did you set it up? I wonder if my DH would be willing to do this on our trip. We've thought about buying DVC but my DH has hesitation about buying a timeshare. He thinks we'd miss staying in a regular hotel room (we don't want to cook on vacation). I guess I don't know how the whole thing works. Still, Disney is the only place my family ever wants to travel, so it seems worth it to me! We never thought we'd be return visitors, but we end up going back about once a year (for 6 years now) so I think it's safe to say that our money would be well spent.

I never considered Pecos Bill before reading your review. DH loves Tex-Mex, so I got a San Angel ADR. It doesn't have what he normally orders -- taco salad, or chicken soft tacos -- and my DD only likes regular beef soft tacos. I was worried. Maybe PB is my solution!!

Definitely check out Karamell Kuche!! The caramel squares are amazing!

The sandwiches are Les Halles are definitely going to be a part of my next trip! They look great!

Definitely do your research- we've been looking into it for a couple of years. I had requested info on the DVC website a few months before our trip and I'm assuming that is how they got our name. Our first day at Disney this trip- someone dropped off a letter with an offer to set up a DVC tour during our trip and get a $100 giftcard. We had an open nonpark day so we decided to check it out- it was suppose to take 60-90 mins but we were there a few hours- that has to do with my DH though. Even if we wouldn't have bought a contract, we still would have gotten $100 giftcard, 3 FP+ for everyone in our party to use over 3 days, and free ice cream. We enjoyed getting to see inside the models and it was also our first time visiting SSR. And, our kids loved the kids camp.

I highly recommend Pecos Bills. We were surprised by how good it actually was and will definitely be back. We live in Texas so we're use to Tex Mex... none of the menus from the mexican restaurants in Epcot really appeal to us.

Thanks for sharing. Loved reading about all your dining adventures. Can't wait to try Morimoto!
