Following along! We really enjoyed BOG lunch, and I definitely think it's a pretty good deal on the Dining Plan. A little pricier for us since we pay OOP, but worth it I think. That strawberry cupcake was so delicious Can't wait to read more!
Hi, Everyone!! Hope you are all having a great weekend! The weather is amazing in South Texas right now so we are trying to enjoy it before it turns 200 degrees!
This will be a quick review-
Date: 3/10/2016 Restaurant: Liberty Inn Location: Epcot Meal Type: Dinner
After a nap, we decided to walk over to Epcot. My favorite part of staying at BC is the walk to Epcot!! It’s soo close and such a nice walk. We wandered through the World Showcase debating on where to eat dinner. I wanted Mexican, DH wanted Sushi, kids wanted pizza- we could NOT decide on anything!! So, where did we end up??
Liberty Inn…. Seriously… I’m still upset about this but anyway… I was very hesitant walking in there so my expectations were very low.
I don’t have any pics… probably because I was mad, hahaha.
DH had “ New York Strip Steak - with demi butter, French fries, and steamed broccoli”- he didn’t have much to say about it. It was edible and that’s about it. All of the steaks are cooked medium well. It was very thin. He said he wouldn’t order it again… and, I said “that’s what you get for ordering steak at a QS”
I found this pic online- I'm pretty sure DH had normal fries and not the potatoes that are shown below. The steak looked exactly like this though.
I had “Fried Shrimp - with Old Bay coleslaw and french fries”- this was OK,it was your typical frozen shrimp and fries… nothing special here.
DD had “Macaroni & Cheese - with grapes and carrot sticks; includes choice of Lowfat milk or small bottled water”
DS had “Chicken Breast Nuggets - with grapes and carrot sticks”
The kids were happy with their choices.. the mac n cheese and nuggets are the same that you get at every QS restaurant. DS surprised us this trip and ate nuggets… last year he ate mac n cheese at every single Disney restaurant we visited.
I will say that the CM’s at Liberty Inn were great! The manager was walking around to all of the tables asking how everything was… we talked to her for a while. She was very nice and my kids loved her because she gave them a stack of Mickey Stickers.
After Dinner, we continued our walk around the World Showcase… we stumbled upon the Fiesta Boat Ride in Mexico… I have no idea what the real name of this is but we call it Fiesta. My kids love this ride… I'm not sure why but I’m pretty sure we were the only people on this ride that night… we rode 4 times in a row… Yes, you read that correctly- 4 times!! This is what happens when a 4 and 6 year old dictate rides.
The reason I wanted to go to Mexico was for a margarita, of course! Why else??
I ended up with a frozen strawberry margarita and it was just what I needed to make my night much better.
We made our way back over to Germany and stumbled upon...
KARAMELL KUCHE!!!
My favorite place in all of Epcot!!
I was able to pull myself out of there with only 3 caramel squares and 1 bag of caramel corn. Those caramel squares are AMAZING!! Soooo good and worth every penny!!! I had 2 sea salt milk chocolate squares and 1 dark chocolate... the caramel is just perfect- not too hard, not too soft, just the right amount of chewy!! This was my first time getting the caramel corn and honestly I wasn’t impressed. I don’t think I’ll get it again- it was really chewy which I thought was strange… I’ve never had chewy caramel corn before.
I was giggling about you ending up at Liberty Inn because that's probably where my family would have ended up too. It's just like that sometimes...*sigh* lol.
We woke up early for our only day planned at Hollywood Studios. By 830am, we were on the ferry to DHS. A few mins later we were off the ferry and inside the park. Again on this day we were very surprised to find no crowds.
Our first FP wasn’t until much later so we really had no plans. We were walking to The Great Movie Ride but were stopped by a CM who told us that some characters were just arriving right in front of the ride… is this a courtyard?? So, we headed over.
We met Goofy, Pluto ,Chip and Dale!!
Chip and Dale were soo much fun- they danced with DD, kissed her hands, and she said Chip was trying to get her to jump in the water fountain with him.
After meeting all these characters, riding a couple rides, singing all the songs in Frozen, and watching some Jedi’s, we were getting hungry. The husband and children were getting cranky so we ended up at ABC Commissary. I’ve heard terrible things but I heard terrible things about all over DHS QS too so what the heck?
DH and I both went with something safe-
Chicken nuggets.
What can I say? Disney nuggets are all the same and as far as chicken nuggets go, I think they are pretty good.
The kids had “Power Packs” which I think are awesome. It’s a little box with goldfish, granola bar, carrot sticks, grapes, yogurt, and water. My kids LOVE these and I wish they sold them everywhere!! They eat these Power Packs so much better than any of the other kid meals.
I really didn’t mind ABC Commissary and I wouldn’t have a problem going back. It was big and roomy inside- lots of seating, AC, and clean.
After a late afternoon nap back at the Beach Club, we decided to hit up DHS at night- a first for us (well in many many many years anyway). We headed to the park around 730pm and by the time we got in the park it was about 8pm and we were hungry but we didn’t want to miss the fireworks so we grabbed a couple of mickey pretzels and some popcorn and grabbed a seat where we’d watch the show. This was my favorite fireworks show… it was amazing!! I'm not a big Star Wars fan but the fireworks set to the music = fabulous!!
After the fireworks, we checked out VOTLM and then
we rode TSMM twice in a row- thanks EMH!!
By this time the park was closing, no restaurants were open, and we were hungry!! We really didn’t want to go back to the Beach Club Marketplace so we decided to go check out the Boardwalk. It was around 11pm and almost everything was closed… the Boardwalk was dead! I thought everything was open until 1am?? Our dinner choices came down to ESPN club or the Pizza Window. We decided to just grab a pizza and head back to our room to eat.
By the time we got our pizza and walked over to the Beach Club and up to our room, it was close to midnight. We were starving and this pizza hit the spot. It wasn't anything spectacular but we were happy with it. The crust had a nice crisp, the sauce was flavorful, and it was very cheesy- this is a winner in my book!
That pizza window was a lifesaver for us last year too. I think the outdoor entertainment on the boardwalk dies down around 10:30 or so but Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall are open until 2am.
