We nixed Boardwalk Inn...

You will be sorry, the Boardwalk is a fantastic resort. You don't have to use the clown pool since there are two other pools at the resort.

^ This.

During our weeklong stay at BWI I didn't even see the clown. I wasn't trying to avoid it either, I just have a bad sense of direction. :lmao:

I'd maybe stay at the BW some day, but there are several other resorts that appeal to me more. It's the overall theme that doesn't appeal to me much (except the garden villas), and yes, I HATE the clown. I don't find it scary, but just seriously unappealing. What was Disney thinking? :confused3

Boardwalk and circus themes have never been my cup of tea though, so that's the perspective I'm coming from. I can see why others like the theme. It's just personal preference.

That said, I like to visit the Boardwalk area now and then, for a restaurant and/or Jelly Rolls. And the Boardwalk has a great location.

I just got home from a week at BWV and I admit, I was weary of the scary clown pool, but it didn't bother me in person as much as it did in pictures. Then seeing my son go down that slide with a big smile on his face was worth it!

This is just my personall opinion but if some people are afraid of Clowns wouldn't it be easier to use the quiet pools located around the Boardwalk Inn and Boardwalk Villas areas? Since everyone has them available wouldn't that be a lot easier then switching your reservations to stay somewhere else?

I just got back from the BW and while I can't say I love the clown, I think the pools are great and I think the BW is a great resort. The clown doesn't bother me. The slide is a good one, too.

The slide is fun. I think I went down it a million times. My son wouldn't go though, not because of the clown but because of his fear of water slides.

If you have a thing about clowns and plan to use that pool I can understand that...we loved our stay at BWI but used the quiet pool and never saw that creepy looking thing!

as an option based SOLELY on the clown. :scared1:

Is that wrong?

We love the BWI. We feel that many have a phobia of clowns and understand your decision not to stay at BWI. My perspective on the entire feel of the Disney Boardwalk is as any boardwalk. After studying boardwalks at Coney Island, Ocean City NJ and Maryland.

During the day they are for everyone. There's a dark side to all of these places something sinister regarding the atmosphere. Especially at night. Thus the eyes being lit at night scaring the hell out of guests. I look at it as Disney has done what they set out to do. They put you in the boardwalk state of mind.

Just as they do with their parks they take you to a different place. A beach resort, a yacht club. Thats why we absolutely love the BWI and the clown it really would not be the correct atmosphere without it.

Enjoy your alternate choice...and have a great vacation!

I grew up vacationing on the Jersey shore and I couldn't NOT have said it better! Great answer!

I too was leary of the clown, but once we stayed there, it's not nearly as bad in person. It's a great resort!

I can see not staying at the BWV since you'd have a chance of seeing the clown slide, but it is fairly easy to stay at the BWI and never see a glimpse of it. If you use the BWI quiet pool, and never venture to the theme pool area at the BWV, there is no reason to go near it. The BWI is fantastic, I love how quiet it is.

Guys! This is a Boardwalk, home to oddities, bicycle quadruplets, flaming sword-swallowers and other peculiar freaks. Certainly a giant clown fits in. The gargantuan features are part of the giggles. (Whoever heard a mouse talk and wear a tiny suit, after all?)
