We are in the process of creating a Snapfish photobook and have reached an all new high in frustration levels. The difficulty we are encountering is that once we drop a photo in the page layout, the picture is often too large for the frame and you can only enlarge the photo, not decrease the size. We also have a smaller issue with the preset page layout not being the configuration that we need. Have you been more successful in doing these photobooks? Any suggestions that might help?

My advice? Go use Shutterfly. :goodvibes

I've used some of the others and Shutterfly has been the most user friendly with lots of options.

Thanks for the reply... :) I was afraid that one of the biggest problems would be the site we were choosing to use. I am hoping to get through this one without totally restarting and then use an easier program next time.

I try to use the free codes whenever I find them so I have used many different photobook companies over the years, snapfish is not one I like though.

The easiest one to use was probably picaboo (Got a free code): http://www.picaboo.com/

Took a bit longer but the company I had the most fun putting things together with was mixbook (used a groupon), they had a bunch of different backgrounds and clipart to work with so it took me around 2 weeks to get everything the way I wanted it:

I can't help with snapfish, but do agree that Shutterfly is very easy to use. I'm 3 years behind on my son's scrapbooks and finally decided to just make a photobook. Shutterfly recently launched new photobooks and you can really make them more scrapbook like...you can change the layouts, add "stickers", add text where you want. It's great!

Humm, I recently made a very nice snapfish book. I love it! I had many pic's that were to big for the "boxes". SF cropped them to fit. I was able to move the actual photo around inside the box so it was cropped where I wanted. Maybe they are having "technical" issues. Try again a little later. If you still have issues, there must be a phone number on the site you can call. My hardcover book came out so nice, I love it!

I've done several snapfish photobooks, my recommendation is to change the page layout. Even if you are using the autofill/auto-create program that snapfish has, you are not tied to the recommended page layout so change it until you find one that fits the photo that you have. I had a really odd shaped panoramic photo that I wanted to use, I had to try about 5 different layouts until I found one that worked to show the whole photo.

If you still can't find a layout that fits, another thing that you can try is to use an outside photo editor to change the shape of your photo but this is not as easy. If you have one such as photoshop you can create a digital photo collage that is the same size as your photobook pages (8x11, 8x8, 12x12,etc.), put in the photos you want for that page, save the collage as a jpeg file, upload the collage to snapfish, then change the layout you are using for that particular page to be one photo per page and choose the full page photo option.

You could try changing companies, but just be aware, that if the problem you are having is because you have an odd size photo you may well never find a page layout in a standard book that fits the photo. Even if you change to a different company such as shutterfly or picaboo (well, with picaboo, maybe, but I have to admit, I find them difficult to use and without a really good coupon too pricey to be worth it.)
