We stayed one night of our trip last October in HRH for our two day visits to USF & IOA. We'll be doing the same again this year - but there seem to be such good rates around that I'm looking at the Portofino.

My DH and DD (10) were taken aback that I was even considering anywhere other than the HRH;) , for two reasons in particular.

My DD loved the pool at HRH and my DH loved the short walk from HRH to the parks and City Walk.

Can anyone tell me what the pool/s like at Portofino - how do they compare to HRH and what's it like and how do we easily get to the parks - can we walk, boat or what?

Thanks so much:D

I stayed at HRH in April. We tried out the pool at PBH and really liked it. It was far less crowded, easier to get a seat in the middle of the day. The kids loved the slide there as much as HRH. It also has a zero entry. Sand surrounds part of the pool and it also has a waterfall my kids thought was cool. My 15 yr old DD thought the lifeguards were cuter at PBH, but that's a 15 yr old for ya LOL. It is a quieter resort. I really want to try it next time around. Rooms are bigger.

The walk would be longer, maybe about 10 minutes if you exit at the entrance of the hotel and cross over to HRH at the front. Not bad to me.

The walk is like 15-20 minutes, depending where your room is to USF ...

The Beach Pool at the PBH is comparable to the HRH's pool, maybe not quite as big and the slide isn't as "good" ... but there are also two other pools at the PBH, the Villa Pool and Hilltop Pool (very quiet usually).

The rooms at the PBH are much bigger than the Standard HRH rooms ... the bathrooms are palatial compared to the HRH bathrooms ...

Personally, I like the PBH better except for the walk to the parks, which usually wins out for me.

Hi,

I don't have advice on your hotel choice but just wanted to ask - are you just doing one night again??

We can't get enough of this place... did 5 nights last year - booked again for 6 nights this summer....

Why just the one night?

>>^..^<<

I have to agree. One night at PBH will well i'm being blunt so excuse me but it'll just be enough to piss you off.LOL You will be kicking your self wishing for more. The first time we did two night not enough, then three night, not enough now it's a min of four nights or we are'nt one be happy! Definetly do PBH my 10yo dd says HRH is NOTHING in her words to PBH. She was so disappointed during spring break when we tried it. She's like mom and wants to be pampered and spoiled on vacation and HRH was nothing be a pia from the being. Check in was long and dragged out, the hair dryer in room did'nt work, never given a mini bar key put it this way i have a free cirtificate from management for a night stay to come back and it's not gonna be used. I will never, never stray from PBH again! After 23 stays at PBH and 1 at HRH there's no comparision to these resorts imo.

Wow PartyofSix, we have stayed at HRH 5 nights 2001, RPH 5 nights 2002, and this year are staying at PBH. We have no complaints of either but wanted to try all 3. Can't wait for PBH from reading your reply.
