For those of you who are thinking of ordering the Disney Photomovie, I would definitely recommend it! We received ours yesterday and it is adorable. I used some of our pictures as well as some of the Photopass pictures. If you are not familiar with this, the movie is divided into different sections - one for each park and another called "Beyond the Parks." You also get a slide show of all of your photos which is accompanied by nice music - I believe it is the soundtrack for the SpectroMagic parade.

This is a wonderful keepsake and definitely worth the $49.95!

Where did you order this from? You said that you used some of your own pics, so I assume this is not from Disney? Or is it through the Disney Photopass webstie?

I have read a bit about it but I did not know that you could use your own pictures in it.

We did not have that many taken professionally while we were there but I did get some good ones myself.

How did you get your photos included in the Disney video? :confused3

I also did the photo movie and it is really neat! You can do it on www.disneyphotomovie.com You basically just need to have your pictures already uploaded onto your computer and then once you go to the website you just need to upload the pics from your comp to the website...it gives you instructions there. The photo movie is like a very elaborate slide show. If you go to the website you can view a sample of it. It is really cool. Also onto of the "movie" part there is a basic slide show that also comes on the dvd which is really nice. I was really amazed at the overall quality.

You sold me. Looks like I will be adding a new gift to my Disney wish list. Looking at the sample gets me even more excited :hyper: and I still have over 5 months to wait.

Got ours last month and I agree 110%. Well worth the $49.95.

I just made a movie of our Dec. trip on my own computer that sounds like the very same thing. I used Pinnacle Studio Plus version9. A month ago they had a free trial period for the V.9 so we downloaded it and made our movie. Everyone loved it. I did one with just our favorite photos with disney music my husband already had in his MP3 folder. You could use your own CD also. My husband is making one with our videos that we took but it is taking longer. I am not very computer savy, but I was able to put a 50minute movie together very easily. Our trial is almost up and I plan on purchasing the software cause I loved it so much. They now have version10 out that I have not played with. I checked their website but could not find a downloadable demo or trial with the new version. I think the new one is running $49.95 which is the same cost as this but you could use it over and over. Here is the link if anyone is interested: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Studio+Family/

You can mix photos and video, but I have not ventured there yet. Just wanted to share incase anyone is interested in making their own movie. I plan on going back and doing one for each of our trips and vacations. I forgot to mention that you would have to have a DVD burner in your computer if you are to do this.

Cellthing - I did both a photomovie and my own movie just as you described. Mine also came out amazing and I love it. But my movie and the photomovie are night and day. I like my movie because it includes many more pictures and the pictures are viewed "full screen". So I use this movie to display all of our pictures from the trip. The photomovie only contains 65 pictures and they are framed to a smaller resolution. The photomovie is more about the animation that surrounds the pictures making the pictures secondary. There is no way to replicate the animation they do (well, very very difficult anyway and certainly not with a $50 software). The end product comes out like the wdw planning DVD but with your pictures mixed in. We watch it all the time.

My parents, my brothers family and my family went on a Disney trip in March 2005 ::yes:: . For a gift my parents got my brother and me each one of these Disney Photo Movies :worship: . WE LOVE IT. We're all going again this March and we watch it with our children, 4 and 2, to get them excited about Disney again. It's just really well done. I love the animation and the breakdown of all the parks. We stayed at POR, and they even included that into our movie. Disney has done it again. This is a MUST! :teeth:

Ok, I'm sold! We'll have to get one of those after our trip. Can't wait!! Thanks for posting this!

That is so cool. I had never even heard of this before I read this post. I'm definitely going to plan on getting one for the trip in June. What a great Xmas present for the grandparents!

The $49.95 rate was an introductory offer, only. My understanding is that time has come and gone.

I've been using software for a long time and making my own video and photo DVDs for all occassions. Many of these software programs are under $100. Like the previous poster said, you can use your software over and over again. Also, I can have very high resolution pictures (8 megapixels) in my video. There is no way a canned program even from Disney can ever compare to doing it on your own. I have visited the site and viewed the preview video. I have an extensive library of Disney wallpapers, live animation, etc. that I include in my own creations. I will say it takes a great deal of time for me to produce a masterpiece on my own but so worth it. By the way, for personal use and no profit to me, you can use copyrighted material from Disney. What I will say for Disney's photomovie is that it's much quicker to make a memory of your vacation than producing one of your own, if you are going to include Disney effects. BEWARE:Photomovie by Disney now costs $99.95.

I think it's much more meaningful, if you make your own. Also, it's individualized to you, not the whole Disney population out there. Although, I think there is room for both to exist. The Photomovie from Disney is great, if you use all the Disney photographers at Disney for your trip. You are not required to spend for high priced photos at Disney anymore; because of this program. You get a photopass which allows you acess to those photos on Disney's site for the Photomovie. It's a good way of getting everyone in the photos, too. With someone having to take the pictures at the parks, you can't get everyone in the photo. Sometimes, you can get others to help take full family photos, but that's a little hard to do.

Finally, not everyone is computer literate to the degree necessary to make your own movies great works of art. I think for some the Disney Photomovie is a good answer.

I make my own for each trip. I made one for our July trip this year and made copies for everyone in my family. I then used one my fav. pics to make a label for the DVDs. When my sister received her's in the mail, she asked me how much I had to pay to have it made. When I told her that I had done it myself, she flipped. Her DS (my nephew) watches it all the time and now begs to go to Disney World! My work is done.

You really don't have to be super computer savey to do this, I just used Windows Movie Maker. It's very easy to use and makes it very easy to add music as well!

But, it does take some devoted time to get it done. I wouldn't be against paying the $50 to let Disney do it for me. As long as I would be able to make copies of it.

Please tell me more about the Disney Photo Movie. This sounds like a great surprise idea for my family when we return from our trip. We are going 1/27 - 2/04, is the photo movie something we order there or when we get home. I would like to know if it uses only the fastpass photos and how do we make sure we have enough to make a nice movie. Thank you for posting this idea and please tell me more. You can send a private message if you prefer. Thanks.

I stand corrected on the Photomovie costs, but it has gone up in price which is the point of my initial post.

Disney has come out recently with different programs; so, I mixed it up. I stand corrected on the cost of the photomovie.

Now the site says $49.95 again? I hope it stays that price until after our trip!!!

The $49.95 is a special price they're having now. It doesn't say how long it will last.
