We love Donald Duck, oh yes we do! - Link to the PTR - COMPLETE

Continued from previous post

(Sorry everyone for the delay between the continuation of my update - work got uber busy, then life stuff, and my computer was acting strangely...but now I'm back ready to finish this update!)

Joe went off to Soarin and Henry was downing the Mac & Cheese with no problem, along with his applesauce.

He was a happy happy camper and I was relieved that he wasn't throwing up.

:yay:

About 1/3 of the way through the meal he gagged.

Uh-oh.

And out it all came.

And came and came. (Not quite the Chef Mickey's Incident thankfully!!)

And I was alone in Sunshine Seasons.

 :headache: :sad1:

I had a bunch of napkins, but quickly went through them. Henry was crying-he just wanted more Mac & Cheese! :guilty:

Then a very magical moment happened. And not a traditional magic moment. There was no certificate, and no awarding of DVC for 50 years, or a nights stay in Cinderella's Castle (sigh). But at that moment it was just what I needed....:wizard:

A WONDERFUL mom came up and handed me a bunch more napkins-which were very needed. I thanked her a hundred times over. I went through those very quickly and started to pull out the wipes when she came by again, asking if I needed anything, and if I was alone. I explained my husband was on Soarin', but I was okay - just a bit panicked and frazzeled. She said she would get me more napkins, and I thanked her again.

SO NICE AND THOUGHTFUL!!!!!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you napkin lady!

Her daughter came back with a HUGE stack of napkins and smiled at me. It was just what I needed in the moment. It really helped calm me down.

After I got Henry, myself, and the table all cleaned up I gave Henry the rest of his applesauce. He still wanted the Mac & Cheese and just did not understand why he couldn't have it...my poor little guy! :sad2:

Joe came back and I explained what happened, he felt TERRIBLE for me (and Henry). Henry was still hungry (doing his 'food' sign over and over!), so Joe said he would go find something else for Henry to eat while I rode.

So that is what we did! I tried to just let the whole incident go and enjoy Soarin' and thankfully, I was able to - Henry was obviously not in pain, or disturbed by the throwing up, and Joe was getting him food.

After another awesome ride on Soarin' (love that ride!), I found my boys - and I cannot remember what Joe got for Henry, but when I found them he was a very happy little guy, YAY! And thankfully we also had extra clothing with us. :thumbsup2

This whole incident just confirmed inside of me it was the milk. It HAD to be - I felt awful for feeding it to him, but a little part of me just kept hoping he would be okay and hold it all down. :sad2: But, that obviously was not the case, something was really not jiving with the milk and Henry...it was baffling.

Since Henry was feeling fine and happy, we went over to Nemo, which was a walk-on.

From the queue

This is a cute ride that we knew what to expect, and we knew Henry loved it!

And he loves the fish tanks after it too, we took quite a bit of time in here, going upstairs and enjoying all the tanks.

We opted not to do Turtle Talk with Crush because it was getting closer to our ADR time. That night we would be dining at Spoodles (another first), at the Boardwalk resort!

We were excited to use the International Gateway,

and walk to BWI, another first for us.

We are simple. Things like this are thrilling. ;)

What a nice walk! So pretty too! I can see why BWI and BC dwellers call this "their entrance". :goodvibes (maybe someday we can too!)

I had no idea what to expect at Spoodles, I had never seen interior shots from the restraunt. The moment we entered the doors I thought, "This is LL's dream!" beautiful light fixtures, all different, decorated the ceiling. It was really beautiful!

Very soon our names were called and we were led to a table just inside the doors - I wasn't too keen on the location at first, but later became pretty thankful of it's close proxmity to the doors...

Up next: "Hello, welcome to Spoodles. Thank you for dining with us tonight."

Sorry to hear Henry was still having trouble here. Apparently at that age the inherent revulsion to particular food that comes with sickness must not have developed yet.

I managed to come down with some sort of stomach flu that's been going around the family last week, and happened to be finishing up a project that involved sampling various candies for my Blog while, as it would turn out, I was in the process of getting sick (I most likely picked it up from one of my nephews who was sick for much of the previous week.) Even though the candy had absolutely nothing to do with me getting sick, I can hardly stand to even look at a Whitman's Sampler at this point due to the (most likely misplaced) association with the crud. It seems weird to me that a toddler will look at something that caused them to puke their guts out, and immediately want more. I suppose I'll figure these things out once I have kids of my own.

On a more pleasant note, I'm enjoying the TR and the photos.

I almost forgot about the Brook shot, Joe had to remind me! Whew! ;) The brids were craZy back there! Holy cow, just everywhere! If I recall correctly, from your PTR, you are hoping to get a table right before Illuminations and watch from there, right? That would be so, so excellent! I hope it works out!

I wish Maelstrom was longer too - it's a really fun ride, the drop at the end totally took me by surprise!!

We are hoping to get a table for Illuminations, but I am not sure if we really want to wait that long to eat dinner!

Poor you and Henry with the mac and cheese incident -- thank goodness for napkin lady!!!

The photos around Crescent Lake are beautiful! I spy Stormalong Bay in one of those!

Great updates, as always!!

The "Brady's go to Hawaii" descriptor makes me want to stay at the Poly even more!!! :rotfl: Loved those episodes!

Glad you made it onto so so many rides/pavilions that you hadn't been able to do before. Isn't the Mexico pavilion beautiful? You got great pics in there... mine never come out.

Can't say I'm a big Maelstrom fun but I do remember thinking it was cool when it first came out. Especially when you think you're going over the edge.

Those fish and chips look yummy even at 5:53am! I am most decidedly not a fan of the birds. I think they are out of control and way too aggressive. Not sure what Disney can do about them but I think they're scary!

What a nice, nice mom in Sunshine Seasons. I actually got a little misty that she was so nice and that you got help in your "time of need." What a relief. :goodvibes Maybe she's a DIS'er!

Poor H. Glad to hear whatever it was cleared up!

And hurrah for Soarin. My favorite!! :thumbsup2

Another most wonderful update!! I'm so glad you were able to experience so many firsts, I'm glad Henry liked the play area after Figment that is a great place LOL!!!

I have to agree with Henry I really enjoy the musical presentations in EPCOT, they are fantastic!!!

Oh no to the being sick again!!! I'm very happy you had a nice mom who was there to help that is awesome :thumbsup2

Your pictures of the resort area are amazing!!!! Can't wait to hear about spoodles...but uhoh to being close to the door...is that forboding LOL

So, sorry to hear about Henry's stomach problems again. Hope he is feeling better now. :)

We just love the walk back to Y&BC through IG, the walk going in is wonderful as well. Thanks for posting the pics!!

poor baby being sick.... i eat/ drink so many milk products that i don't even think about it sometimes... and then eat or drink them when i really shouldn't...

and i can't wait to hear about spoodles... never really hear much about it.

and i love your pics at epcot. we spent a day there in sept and really want to go back and take our time and see lots more :lovestruc

So sorry that the mac & cheese didn't agree withyourlittle guy.
IT's awesome that the nice lady sprinkled some pixie dust on you though!:goodvibes

Has it been confirmed that Henry has a milk allergy? Poor little guy!

I loved hearing your reaction to going over the International Gateway and over to Spoodles. :) We really like having that gateway when we are at the BWV's.
The "napkin mom" was so nice! I'm glad she was there to help. That must have been a crazy moment for you! :scared1:
I'm you went on Soarin again! :cool1: That is one of the best!!!!

Poor Henry. I'm glad that things got better soon and he wasn't sick anymore! And I love your IG pictures, that's one of my favorite parts of Disney! It's such a gorgeous, peaceful walk. We usually park at the Beach Club and walk over to the IG gateway entrance when visiting Epcot (shhhh... ;)) Great update!

I hate that I can't see your pictures at work because then I get way behind and forget what I wanted to comment on. Let's see what I do remember...
*Kona Cafe looks so delicious. I really want to try those pancakes.
*Poor Henry with the milk, so sad.
*Marc and I call Maelstrom the "trippy viking ride" and I am going to have to show him your pictures because I started laughing at the blurry/trippy ones.
*What a nice lady helping you out with Henry! Sometimes little things like that make a world of difference.
*Would it be wrong to eat at Spoodles just because of those light fixtures? :rolleyes1

Poor Henry (and Mommy, too!!!) and what a nice lady-- you can tell she was a Mom, for sure!!:thumbsup2 There still are nice people in this world....:)

What a nice walk you guys before dinner, it's so pretty out that way!! Hope Spoodles was a nice dinner for you, can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Poor Henry. My middle child had a very similar problem. The best her Dr. could ever tell me was that she was suffering from a mild stomach bug and the dairy products irritated her. She only threw up when she ate dairy. I was overjoyed to find she was not lactose intolerant because we love our dairy! Anyway glad it appears to be nothing serious but sorry he got sick so much on your vacation.

I cannot wait to visit Epcot. Your pictures are amazing.

Great Trip Report!

But seriously...you are from Minnesota...you have a 1+ year old boy...you went to Disney in January....you love LOST....????

I think you might be ME!

My wife and I took our 18 month old boy to Disney for the first time in January (6-13). We stayed at the GF for the first time. We wanted to be on the monorail since it would be easier with our son's stroller and the 4/3 deal allowed us to fit the GF into our budget. Reading about your trip reminds me of our trip that ended about a week before your's started. It wasn't cold at all while we were there....but there were a few more people around...judging by your photos.

Anyway...from one Minnesotan to another....glad you had a great trip!

Eric

Poor Henry and poor Brook! I'm sorry he got sick again. I love when moms help other moms out. What a kind soul. Spoodles looks great! I wonder why you were glad you were by the door though. Hope all was okay.

I LOVE the pictures! It really makes me so excited - especially the pictures from Mexico at Epcot. Your DS is ADORABLE. I have an 18 month old and we will be going the first week in May - I have a 4 year old too. I took my 4 year old when he was 9 months and then again when he was 3 and we had our 8 week old with us at the time too... so I guess we have had some experience with little ones and how flexible you have to be with them!

Thanks for sharing your story!

Great update!! I can't imagine how scary it must have been with all the random sickness going on with Henry. When Jack-Jack was so sick over Christmas, in all my research online before we had a diagnosis, I read that lactase is the last enzyme the stomach gets back after being sick. Because I SERIOUSLY considered a milk allergy as the cause of all the vomiting. I guess dairy is just really hard on an already upset stomach and can prolong the symptoms. :confused3

Can't wait to hear the rest!!!

Great updates! I love your pose - you look like you're having so much fun! The pics of the Poly are great. We've only seen the lobby (while waiting to get seated at Ohana) - now I wish we explored a little more. I keep saying it - but poor Henry! Although you probably had it worse than he did with all the cleaning up and worrying! Such a nice lady to bring you napkins - truly a magical moment for a mom. :goodvibes

Love your trip report! Poor little guy! I secretly (ok well not so secretly!) love it when guests are nice/helpful/make magic for other guests! Can't wait to read more!
