we have found a really good deal at the Gaylord Palms. We are only looking to stay somewhere for Friday and Saturday night (DVC points are expensive on the weekend). So, we usually will stay at a value resort the Fri and Sat before we check into DVC. So my question is this, would you rather stay at a value on disney property or at the Palms off property? Assume that the cost per night is exactly the same.

For two days? I would stay at Gaylord Palms. I love being onsite..but much prefer this property over a value.

I am leaning that way too, but I guess I feel like I will be missing out on some of the magic.

How long will you be at Disney?
Look at it this way- since the off site stay is at the beginning of your trip..your Magic will only improve.....

missing out on some of the magic.
How much magic is there, really, in a 260 sq. ft. box with double beds, having to go outside to get your morning coffee?

Don't forget that the Gaylord Palms charges a resort fee of $15/day.

(These things drive me nuts. Just put it in the room rate unless it's truly optional, like WDW's internet fee. At least then, I can decide for myself if I want to pay it.)

Gaylord Palms for sure. There is no comparing the two and if cost is the same/almost the same, well heck, even if Gaylord is more expensive it is so, so worth it. The place is fantastic!

Don't get me started on "Resort Fees"! :crazy2: I'm with you..just include it into the room price for goodness sakes! Please don't tell me it's for a newspaper that never arrives!

I've seen pics of Gaylord Palms. It looks awesome. If you can stay there for the same rate as the value resorts, I would go for it.

I love the value resorts! The decor is over the top, but I think that makes them feel Disney, in a crazy, 8yr old child kind of way.

I have stayed off-site before, and it is fine. And if I was saving a ton of money by staying off-site, then I would go for it. But if the cost is the same there is no way you could get me off of Disney property. I do think there is a magic to being on Disney property that you just don't get at the off-site resorts, no matter how nice they are. Plus, I don't like having to drive to the parks when I can just hop on a bus, relax, and enjoy the ride.

I love being onsite too...but if I had two days to sacrifice before staying DVC, I wouldn't mind staying off site.
