of Green Resort but i'm not sure what to do? Last time we went to Dis we stayed at the pop century and loved it. But now we can stay at the Shades of Green. My biggest issue is the dining plan. It saved us so much money. I heard something about the gold leaf package at the shades of green but what is that and what is the cost? Before the dining plan we would just eat at the counter service places and usually stay offsite and eat dinner somewhere offsite and breakfast and the hotel. I'm confused. Also, when i read the Shades of Green website they said you have monorail service to dis and i think busses or something else. Can anyone help me out here and clear up some questions for me please. TIA:confused3

Sure! I would be glad to help! We have stayed at shades of green numerous times. We just stayed ther in in March. I'm not sure about the gold leaf plan you are tlaking about, but as far as I know there is no dining plan. Also the monorail is across the street, about 10 minute walk, at the poly. There are busses that run every 15 minutes between TTC, and every 30 minutes between all others. The rooms are the size of the Deluxe resorts with the Value resorts prices. Hope this helps. Anyother questions just ask away!

The Gold Leaf package can be used only at SOG restaurants. Does not include any WDW restaurants. Not sure if they still offer it. Didn't see it listed on their site.

if you buy the Gold Leaf plan you must eat 2 meals a day at SOG. If you spend alot of time at the resort that's no big deal, but we felt like we spent more time on buses getting back and forth for meals then we did in the parks! Also, the food isn't that great, especially since they've raised their prices. Buses run every 15-20 min to TTC, other then that it's every hour, but some are on the hour, some are 20 after, some are 20 til, it's just to confusing. The bus stop at BB is 1st in line, but most of the others are at the end of the line, and some are out in the charter bus lots with no shade or seats.

Please call SOG and ask them if you qualify for the OEF (operation enduring freedom) plan. Basically, with the plan, if you get a room and meal plan, you get 20% off of both the room and the plan.

So, for a seven week stay which was going to cost us $1750, we added the meal plan, and with the discount package got the room AND meal plan together for $1,862. That's right--for only about $110 more, we get breakfast AND dinner each day, for seven days, for 5 people. Totally worth it even if we use it just for the breakfast!

I think to qualify, you have to be active duty military with a 12 month deployment, or on R&R leave. It's worth calling about! Also check their website and look at the Specials and Packages tab!

good luck!
