Here it is with a prop to better visualize the size of our visitor.

The good news is that he's way too big to slip into the house through any crevices. The only way this guy is getting in the house is with his own key!

please edit your post and put GROSS or warning or something in there..I cannot stand spiders..and sure wasn't expecting to see that in there..I was thinking racoon , deer, possum, anything but that spider the size of a buick!

It's pictures like this that make me glad I live in a country which doesn't have big spiders/bugs/ snakes etc!!

I have scratched any state with tarantulas off of my bucket list to visit.

My wife and kids always ask me to kill bugs.

If this was in the house, I think I would tell them, "no, but we can move out if you want." :scared1:

Really? No bugs or snakes? That'd be so nice. We live out in the country & we share our space with lots of unwanted creatures. The red wasps & stuff are a pain! And I so do not like the snakes!!

Glad that "Bug" can't get in! It is Huge & Ugly!!

What do you do if you have a spider of that size INSIDE of your home? I'll admit it- I usually kill bugs inside my house!

Ummm...I just got a full body chill. I seriously think I would die if I saw that thing anywhere remotely near me.

They say that during your lifetime you "eat" 8 to 10 spiders and other insects while sleeping.

I think you'd know if that sucker was trying to crawl in your mouth.:scared1:

Better a tarantula than a black widow or brown recluse. At least the tarantulas are not generally aggressive and their venom is usually only a problem to a human if they are allergic (rare). They might look big and scary, but there are many, many worse things you could find in your house.

Is it outside your garage?

I'd be losing my mind if it was inside my house, but I think its so cool to see them outside!

Did you just leave it there? I would have HAD to take him for a long ride away from my home. That thing is HUGE!

See, around here the only way we'd see a spider that big is if it was a pet and got loose. I've seriously never encountered a spider that size except when I was a kid and my brother had one.
I'd venture to say it was someone's pet and is trying to find its way back home...:lmao:
...At least that's what I'd tell myself. :scared1:

Die instantly from a heart attack or die slowly from venom.....:scared1:

Oh my! Wasn't expecting that. I'm terrified of our North East spiders, the South is apparently no place for someone like me.

Last week I had the crud scared out of my by one of the little jumping spiders we get here. The things are the size of a thin marker dot but can jump about a foot and move fast as lightening... gives me the shivers just thinking about it! EEK! Spiders are coming early this year.

That is too cool! Here's our visitor yesterday morning in our backyard. Little bigger...

Sorry about that! I added a disclaimer to the title.:)

I hope to never find a spider of that size inside the house.:scared1: We will now open and close doors with much caution and always make sure nothing is following us into the house!

Who was brave enough to put that can beside it? :scared1:

DD26, or as she is now known, "the brave one". She set the can down away from the spider, then slowly slid it closer with the aid of a broom.

Yeah, like scorpions.:scared1: I'll take the tarantula over a scorpion any day!

The funny thing is that my older daughter and I had just returned from shopping. I parked my car in front of the garage doors and as we walked around to the front of the car, we spotted a much, much smaller spider. I was pondering the possibility of it getting inside the garage.

Awhile later, my husband and our younger daughter went out for ice cream. They were only gone a few seconds when our daughter came running back into the house and telling us we just had to come outside to see this "huge tarantula". My other daughter and I were like, "Yeah, we just saw it on our way in earlier. It wasn't THAT big." She insisted, so we went out and...:scared1:

It wasn't the spider we had seen earlier! After being sufficiently creeped out, we all kind of just stared at it. Oddly, I think we were more fascinated by the tarantula then truly horrified. I guess we're getting used to living here in the desert!:rotfl:

Oh AZ.....home of the grossest creatures ever! That is just awful. It is better though than a rattler. We had one 'sunbathing' on our patio a couple of weekends ago. We ended up calling the pest removal service.

As for the bear, at least he's cuter! :)
