We had a visitor last night...open at your own risk!

I lived in Arizona for a short time when I was younger and really liked it there. This is one of the few reasons I didn't like it there! YIkes!!:scared1:

Is it outside your garage?

I'd be losing my mind if it was inside my house, but I think its so cool to see them outside!

Yes, OUTSIDE the garage!:)

Did you just leave it there? I would have HAD to take him for a long ride away from my home. That thing is HUGE!

Yes, we did. We actually watched it for a bit from INSIDE the house. He ended up slowly walking up the path that leads to our front door.:headache:

See, around here the only way we'd see a spider that big is if it was a pet and got loose. I've seriously never encountered a spider that size except when I was a kid and my brother had one.
I'd venture to say it was someone's pet and is trying to find its way back home...:lmao:
...At least that's what I'd tell myself. :scared1:

I briefly thought it might be someone's pet, too. However, I know better. I'm sure there are many, many more of them crawling around at night here in Tucson. Actually, when I fist saw it, I didn't think it was real. I just couldn't believe the size of it!

Holy crapola! :scared1:

I'd be looking for a Motel 8 to sleep in!

I wouldn't like THAT visitor at all!! :rotfl:

Speaking of visitors though, the bear in my signature pic visits us quite often. :)

There's much to be said for a hard freeze every winter.

Um, cold weather is when they start thinking, "look at that really large warm structure over there....bet I could find a nice corner (or shoe) to curl up in and be out of the cold". At least in the desert then prefer the outside to the inside.

You had to say "shoe" didn't you...:lmao:

Oh - my - Lord! Thank goodness sweet little Carter wasn't outside and decided to play discovery :guilty:. I break out in a sweat every time I think of the little 2ft blk snake that somehow managed to crawl into our second story bathroom last year. I visualized snakes at every turn for quite awhile!!

And ladies, your bears don't look fun either!! :rotfl2:

My biology teacher had a pet trantula that he kept in the classroom during the school year.

I always thought it was kinda funny that we girls would pass him around and play with him but the boys wouldn't go anywhere near him.

Are the moving trucks there yet? :) Actually, I would leave everything just in case one snuck in a box.

Yeah, I'm not worried about the hypothetical ones you're supposed to have eaten in your sleep, it's the practical one's that love nothing better than a closet full of my footwear.

That goes for scorpions as well...and crickets....and basically anything else you'd have to call Billy the Exterminator for.

I had one of those as a pet once. You'd be surprised what they can squeeze through and into and around.

They are mostly harmless.

Yeah, but a good long hard freeze keeps the really nasty insect population down. It's one of the advantages of living in the northeast. No tarantulas, no fire ants. I keep that consolation in my head when I'm shoveling the driveway in February.;)

ewwww
.Not to self do not move to Arizona.:scared1:

When I saw the title of this thread, I said to myself, please be anything but a spider. :scared1: I'd rather have the bear. MUST live in Maine forever.

:rolleyes1 La, la, la, thanks for the post. Today, at least, the sight of a cockroach doesn't seem quite so horrible.

Surprisingly, spiders don't bother me (although he's a biggie!). Now if that were a lizzard or a snake, I would've jumped out of my skin!

What do you do if you have a spider of that size INSIDE of your home? I'll admit it- I usually kill bugs inside my house!
While I can see killing it, I sure wouldn't want to be on clean up duty afterwards.

Better a tarantula than a black widow or brown recluse. At least the tarantulas are not generally aggressive and their venom is usually only a problem to a human if they are allergic (rare). They might look big and scary, but there are many, many worse things you could find in your house.
Still, heart attacks could be a serious result of finding one of tehm in your house (crawling on you at night!).
