We got the word from our DVC guide today...we made it through the waitlist. Our 210 points (April Use Year, Magical Beginnings) at the BCV came through! Yipee! And we have borrowed some points from 2004 and are going to take our first trip over Labor Day...staying in Studio.
I have wanted to be a DVC member since learning about the offering in 1998, but at that time, I just couldn't seem to convince my husband, despite a perfect six page proposal and a totally magical stay at PO and great walking tour of so many of the other Disney resorts. Yes, I really did write a proposal and get him to visit almost all the resorts. He's a good man. Anyway...
I think what convinced my husband that now was the time to join, five years later and no proposal to review, is that we now have a 15 1/2 month old son. He/we wanted to make sure that we spent time together as a family away from the normal day-to-day. And we didn't want to say to each other, "We don't have the money for a vacation this year." What better place to go as a family than Disney, and what better way to be sure and vacation than to pre-pay!
Our DVC guide, Linda, was absolutely great, even through my 100 questions, asked of her almost daily over the last week or so. I agonized so much over whether we should choose BWV, BCV, or Saratoga. She was my sounding board for my pros and cons, and she was patient through it all.
And I must have read hundreds of posts on these very boards about what made each of those three resorts a good choice. It was so hard trying to make up my mind, having never stayed at any of them and never seen two of them at all. But in the end, thanks in part to many of you, I did make up my mind...
I am now an official member of the DVC family! I couldn't be happier. And I know I am going to love BCV. Actually, I imagine I will love all the resorts equally, and I can't wait to try them all. I think each seems so special and unique...truly like members of a family.
And if we run into booking window issues, maybe I can help some of you get into BCV and do a little trade : ) Just thinking ahead. No harm in that. I'm a planner!
Thanks again for all your advice, and I look forward to reading more of your posts, participating in member polls, talking to you in the chats, and maybe seeing you soon at the "happiest place on earth."
