We were there yesterday (Mother's Day). Which, first of all, I expected to be INSANE b/c of the Tinkerbell races and then, well, Mother's Day. And it totally wasn't. Crowded, but never packed.

Anyway, I reserved our meals for 3:30, which is nearly the latest you can get them and still go to the first parade. We got to the park around 3, went directly to Aladdin's Oasis, we all picked out our meals (I was told my kids would be able to choose between kid or adult meals once we got there), and we decided to eat in their dining area. It was so beautifully decorated and restful, plus Aladdin and Genie strolled by a couple times on the way to their meet-n-greet.

I had GF chicken on veggies, and it was totally fine. The rest of the family had lasagna with meat and they all liked it.

It was an 8:45 parade, viewing area to open at 8:15. We strolled up at around 8:18, got front row seats directly across from IASW. A CM came by about five minutes before the parade and told us that if we wanted to watch the fireworks we should stay exactly where we were.

Oh man, that parade. Incredible! And then the fireworks afterward. Amazing! When it started snowing I thought it was ash at first. LOL. For us, this package was totally worth it. I really wanted decent seats for the parade and did NOT want to spend an hour plus waiting. Sitting on the ground is a total bummer, though. There's no way my parents could do this, unless they stood a little toward the back (no one stood up in our section unless they were in the back, which was really nice).

Thank you for encouraging me to do the Aladdins oasis meal on the go. Your experience sounds perfect. I was going back and forth between this and the BB dinner but the kids wouldn't appreciate it for the money spent. ill save BB for our January trip when I have less kids.

How were the crowds in that area? Did you think it was necessary to do the package vs just trying to get a spot 30 min prior? I'm still debating if I should do it or not? Spending 2 hours to save a spot doesn't sound fun to me either.

I think it depends on when you are going. We saw the late showing of PTN in January (on a Sunday night) near the IASW reserved area and it was not crowded at all. Plenty of room and I was glad I didn't do the package because it wasn't needed.

BUT, now I'm thinking of going back in June. It will be busier AND a grad night AND I'm thinking of doing the earlier PTN so we can try to catch fireworks. So now I'm thinking of booking the Aladdin package. :tink:

We are going the end of June 23-27 and more than likely would like to do the earlier parade.

I was also there last night. We walked over from California adventure and got in the park at 8:10. Found a seat in the hub , second row in and in front of some garbage cans. Great view of the parade. It appeared very crowded but there was space if you looked. Not front row, but good enough.

I am not real familiar with that area. Are you raised up a bit? If we watch the fireworks from there would the kids be able to see a lot better than on Main Street with tall people right up against them?

Thanks for the report. We have been debating whether or not to do the Aladdin PTN package during our August trip.

Yes, the Aladdin viewing spot is that weird sort of stage that is right across from IASW. Now, we chose to be on the ground in the front row, but then people sat on the steps behind us and stood at the top. The view of the fireworks and the projections on IASW was fantastic. Couldn't have been better. There is no one allowed in front of there. They clear the people on the other side of the street.

I'm guessing that will be a pretty crowded time, especially for the earlier parade. In my experience you can always find somewhere to watch the parade, although not front row if you're not willing to stake out a place. For me, I just didn't want to stress about it, and wonder whether we'd find a place. It was my Mother's Day gift to myself!

Thank you for sharing this! We made reservations for this for our trip in June, so I love hearing good reports about it!

IIRC the cost was around $25 each for adults?

Thanks for the info! One more question, I couldn't find it on the Disneyland site, maybe I just missed it. Is there a certain time you have to book your meal to get the first show?

Yes, the cost is $25 for each adult meal, and I think $15 for a child's meal. And yes, the website does not note when you have to book for each parade (or at least I never found it). I had to call to change mine, because it automatically assigned us to the later parade (which was easy to do, thank goodness). Sometime between 3:30 and 4 is the switch-over, at least for our date. I booked 3:30 to get the earlier parade.

Thanks again for all your help!

We did the package that night as well. Initially I was a bit skeptical, but we got curbside seats for the parade as well as the fireworks. It was an awesome way to see both. I do wish they would do wrist bands or something as a few people just walked under the ropes into the area, and there seemed to be a lack of CMs monitoring the area. That could also just me my anxiety and control freak tendencies talking. Like I said, it turned out to be pretty amazing I found value in it, especially considering the cost included our lunch.

There were individuals around us who left the area to get popcorn, go to the bathroom, etc, and then ducked under the ropes to come back. I didn't notice people just randomly coming in, but I agree, it absolutely could have been happening.
