Hey all!! I've been home for about a month now (well a little bit more) and I have FINALLY gotten around to a trip report. The holiday kind of killed my time for a bit and then I was so upset that it was all just over like that! But I figured the best way to bring joy and cheer back into my life is to remember my wonderful trip to Disney.

DH (Greg) and I (Nicole) celebrated our very first anniversary at Disney World!! We were really married in October, but decided on December to enjoy the Holiday and also because we've been to Disney in October before.

So our journey, like most, started with the planning. That's a whole different thread (you can read if you're interested "Dec 2009 A Celebration of Many Things). And it really was a wonderful celebration of so much more than our wedding.

Picture it...Dec 3, 2009, 3:45AM. The alarm sounds and I'm in the shower in seconds. We gathered all our bags, Brynn (our dog, B for short) and piled in the car headed to my in-laws, aka taxi service. I even remembered to mail my Christmas cards on the way out!! I had it together!! But I was so anxious to get to Disney, seriously I could have burst.

We get to my in-laws, kiss B goodbye, and were off...

Needless to say, almost missed the plane. We left for the airport at 5:00/5:15 and we almost missed a 6:30 flight. Why you ask?? :confused3 Well my mother in-law insisted on moving a glacial pace. She drove so slow, to the point where Greg was like, "Umm is there a problem with your gas peddle." LOL to which her reply was "Oh sorry I was talking to Nicole and got distracted." :rotfl: So it just shows that my MIL can't drive and talk (I will ave to remember this for future flights)

We finally get in the airport and the line is OUT THE DOOR!!!:scared1: I almost had a heart attack and then realized, Oh right I am so smart I did the early airport check in. Zipped right in!! Which was good because by the time we grabbed some breakfast and sat down, it was time to board!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

And then we sat on the plane for 45 minutes!!! I was loosing it. I was so mad, and I really was about to have a fit. I'm a little bit of a control freak and when things that I can't control don't go my way...well I have a hard time dealing with such things.

Finally we take off

YAY!!! WE'RE TAKING OFF!!!!

View on the beautiful NY harbor from above

Okay, so at this point I looked out the window and it was one of those moments. Like, complete peace and happiness. Look at those clouds, who couldn't be happy.

Woo hoo!! Almost in MCO

Okay, so neither one of us has ever used Magical Express. Oh how amazing it was!! It was so great to just arrive and go directly to Disney!

So we get to the ME line and I wasn't sure how it worked with the different resorts, but I did know that Ty was coming in at the same time and there was a chance I would see her. So I'm looking around and I see four very lost people, and I turn to Greg and I say, "THAT'S TY!!" We sadly only had time for a quick hello, but it was exciting to see someone who has been with me on my Disney journey for so long.

We get to Port Orleans fairly quickly and I must say I love Disney for the story I am about to tell you. When I originally made the reservation I had my heart set on Oak Manor. Well, it didn't work out, but not for lack of trying. Nevin (in training) and Amie, were so helpful and persistent in getting us a room that we wanted. There was just no room (damn Pop Warner kids, who on a side note were not really a pain, just all over the resort) but we ended up with a better/closer room. We were in the first building in Alligator Bayou, very close to the food court and bus stop.

We asked Amie's opinion (as it was a parade taping day) and she said it would be best to stay away from the Magic Kingdom, so we changed our plans and decided to go to DHS. First ride, Tower of Terror!!! LOVE IT!! Through the entire trip we probably rode it at least 15 times. Never gets old.

I opted not to take any pictures of DHS our first day. I wanted to be completely immersed in the joy and happiness of Disney. Plus I had plenty of time to take pictures. I wanted to spend my first day enjoying as much as I could and enjoy being with DH. And we did have a really wonderful first day. We were able to get on Tower of Terror and Rocking Roller Coaster a ton of times. Toy Story would have to wait to another ay, it was CRAZY! We grabbed a late lunch/early dinner at the Backlot Cafeteria. Yummy bacon cheeseburger! This was our first experience with our free dinning, and it was awesome. So glad we decided to take it, I really think we made out on this deal.

Once we left DHS, we went back to our room to get things in order. Later that night we met up with Erin (lovesmy3kiddos) and her family. And that was the start of beautiful friendship...

We had a few drinks in the River Roost and really had such a great time. Erin is easy to get along with because she talks a lot. Freddy showed up, (piano playing singer/entertainer at RR) but that didn't stop us, we just proceeded to talk louder and louder! I'm glad that this worked out, because Greg was a little nervous. He always expects the worst in things, LOL I guess that's why things always come out on the plus side for him.

Anyway, after our drinks we went back to our rooms and prepared for the next day. Greg and I were going to Epcot, this was going to be our drink around the world day!! Ahhh...you gotta love Epcot.

Until next time folks!

OK...trying this again!!! As I said earlier...I swear you guys took our room!! Suckers!!! LOL It's ok... it all worked out! We really had such a good time meeting up with you! I would have been able to have all of my stuff up here sooner also had you not made me spill wine in my computer during our 3 1/2 hour phone conversation!! LOL Can't wait til I pop up in your report again!!

I forgot you spilled wine on your laptop. Wow, you must have been really disappointed...

I hope there was enough left in the bottle...

Haha!!! Funny! Stop hijacking your wife's TR like you hijacked my vacation!!!

Umm, I take no reponsibility for the hijacking of your vacation. Talk to my wife. If not for her, we wouldn't have even known you and thus, not been able to hijack said vacation. Actually, I don't think it's her fault either, I blame these boards!

Great start Nic! I've been on the lookout for your report, so glad you started it. lol at your MIL driving. My sister is that way, can't multi-task.....but instead of driving slow, she talks, drives and goes way too fast! :thumbsup2

glad you and DH had such a great first day and a great meeting that night too with Erin and her family!

Joining in!! I'm excited to read your TR as we're planning a trip to WDW in December!!!! :goodvibes

I've been waiting for your TR to pop up, I was starting to get a little nervous thinking you weren't going to do a report, I so couldn't wait to hear about you and Greg's vacation.

I was always on the look out for you at parks hoping we'd bump into eachother but I guess our park days never really matched up.

I'm guessing you had a good time, your TR does say you lived happily ever after. I can't wait to read about it.

Ty

Great start. I can't wait to read about drinking around the world. popcorn::

Thanks for joining in, it was am awesome trip and I am very excited to share the whole experience.

I forgot you spilled wine on your laptop. Wow, you must have been really disappointed...

I hope there was enough left in the bottle...

Everyone, this is my husband. He will be tagging along/crashing my TR. I'll let him only because he's a keeper ;)

Haha!!! Funny! Stop hijacking your wife's TR like you hijacked my vacation!!!

LOL I don't think we're going to get away form him, Erin. But on the other hand he is a great source of entertainment!

Hey Ty!! We did have an amazing trip. I'm a little sad I'm not sure when we'll be going back. But I think between my TR and my scrap book then I can sort of relive everything!! :)

I cant wait to here more. :thumbsup2

Hey there!! Stay tuned for more exciting Disney fun..

Day 2, first full day in Disney!! Greg and I were so excited, this was going to be our drink asround the world day, and we were also meeting JoJo in Mexico for a margarita! YUMMY!!!

So when we wake up it's raining and the forecast says it's going to rain all day! Not to worry, a little rain wasn't going to deter us! Slap on a rain coat and we're good to go. Unfortunately sense it was raining all day (and really started to pick up towards the afternoon) we don't have a lot of of day 2 pictures. I have a few really cool ones inside the Mexico Pavilion, Greg took a few of our drink around the world until we got too hammered to remember to take more, and that's about it.

Okay, on with the real show. We got to Epcot for rope drop. We like to be at the parks early to get optimum park/ride time. We enjoyed the pre-opening show front and center and when the rope dropped we, and everyone else, went to Soarin!!

A quick note about rope drop and rides. As I have stated in the past, we don't RUN to ANY rides. 1) I don't see the need, there is plenty of time to get on everything and that is why they invented fastpass. 2) You miss out on way too much by stampeding anywhere. and 3) Trampling people is just not the Disney way.

(Side note about fastpass-Greg and I personally don't think it is right to get online until your ENTIRE party is ready to get on the ride. You save maybe 1 ride cycle by, basically cutting, and sending someone in your party to get fastpasses for you. We personally don't think it is right to do that, now I can't really stop people from doing it, but it does anger me. And Greg and I, even though we are only 2 people, will wait until we are both ready to get on line. Not trying to start an argument, don't really want to here anything bout it because people can get heated, just our feelings on the whole getting on line fastpass business)

So we get to Soarin, get our fastpasses and get online. Soarin is Greg's FAVORITE ride. He says that there is no other ride experience like it. And I have to agree! It truly is one amazing experience.

We didn't wait long and before I knew it, we were off!! I think for me, the Soarin experience was heightened by the woman sitting next to me. She was an elderly woman, I would say in her late 80's and I'm not sure I have ever seen anyone so amazed and happy over any ride. It almost brought a little tear to my eye, she just kept saying "This is so amazing!!" On our way out she was talking to the people with her and I heard her say that when she was a girl there were people who went their whole life without ever going on a plane or even a train. I made me appreciate it in a new way.

After Soarin we hit up Test Track and a few other attractions in Future World and then headed over to World Showcase. The rain put a little damper on the strolling of World Showcase, but we still really enjoyed our drink around the world.

We started in Germany with beers and pretzels. I have to say the Beck's isn't that bad. Never was really a Beck's drinking but it complemented the pretzel very nicely. And man was that a good pretzel!!

Hubby loves him a good beer!
ry%3D400

I love a good funny hat picture!! A beer cap in the Germany gift shop. Classic!!!
ry%3D400

Next up, Italy. I had a nice glass of red wine and Greg had a Peroni. I love Peroni, but I had to go with the red wine!
ry%3D400

CHEERS!!
ry%3D400

We did a once over in the shops in Italy while we finished our drinks. Next up...sake in Japan!!!

So the sake is what really did us in. At this point this was only the third drink, but man does that stuff pack a punch! I picked a plum sake (sweet, but not disgustingly so) and Greg picked a traditional sake (which I pretty much forced him to suck down!)
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Japan is one of the cooler shops. There is just a ton of stuff to look at while enjoying your sake! I think my complete demise was due to the plum that the sake girl gave me. They were pickled plums that basically spend their lives hanging out in the sake, I suppose it could be compared to eat the worm (but waaay less intense) but still sort of knocked me on my butt!!

Next up, margaritas in Mexico! The walk back in the rain from Japan to Mexico helped, but this is when the pictures go to the way side! Greg and I were meeting JoJo and her husband Denis at the Tequila Bar! We had such a great time and Jo even had a few little trinkets for me! So sweet, it was such a nice surprise! I had a blood orange and pomegranate margarita (I think) and Greg had a classic.

We had a reservation at Rose and Crown at 3:30, so we were not able to stay, however it was really nice seeing someone I had been talking to for so long! So we forgot to get a drink picture but we did get a funny hat picture, and then a cool one with my camera.

ry%3D400

Now off to England!!! The end of our drink around the world was wrapped up in England with pints and fish and chips!! We checked in and had a few minutes to explore the shops.
funny hat picture!
ry%3D400

We lucked out and got a seat in the tented area right under an industrial sized heater! The Gods were smiling on us. It was the perfect spot to warm up, dry out and dine on our fish and chips. I LOVE fish and chips, there are few things in the world better!! I had a pint of Guinness (or two) and Greg had a pint of New Castle (or two). Guinness was made for fish and chips!

We had an excellent meal, but decided to just call it a day and relax at the hotel for the rest of the night. Good thing because by the time we walked from England to the bus we were both SOAKED! At this point Greg was saying to himself "I'm so glad my wife is always right, and I always listen to her, and that she forced me to take 3 pairs of sneakers instead on the 1 I wanted to originally take."

By the time we got back to the room, got all warm and comfy, we finally felt our drinks and food comma catch up with us, and we called it a night. LOL sort of a lame ending, but we were totally wiped and off to DHS for AM EMH the next day!!

Hey Ty!! We did have an amazing trip. I'm a little sad I'm not sure when we'll be going back. But I think between my TR and my scrap book then I can sort of relive everything!! :)
..

Scrapbooking a Disney trip is a great way to relive the memories, I haven't started mine yet, the pictures are still sitting on my camera, but I'll start soon, the rain however kept me from taking a lot of pictures too, and my first day I was so caught up in seeing Marzi that I completely forgot to take pictures, I think I took maybe 12 the first day.
I just read your last update, I love the funny hat pictures. That will make a great scrapbook page.
I'm so glad you got to meet up with JoJo, she's a peach aint she?

Ahhhh....the rainy day in Epcot!!! I am surprised we didn't meet up with you in the hotel that night...we spent a lot of time there too that night!!! LOL

I love the hat pix!!! Too funny! The beer cap in Germany and the police hats in UK were great!!

At least you two didnt let the rain take a damper on your day. Hope tomorrow wont rain on you guys too.

so sorry you got rained on! soudns like a fun day nonetheless! sake- ugh! i hate the stuff- you guys were real troopers! :rotfl: isn't the new tequila bar nice? We did a margarita flight there and one was a jalapeno margarita. can't wait to hear more

Subscribing, loving your pictures.
And anyone who does a Drinking Around the World is my type of people!!

I have actually taken it a bit farther and gotten the pictures off my camera and onto shutterfly, so we're making progress. I actually didn't do my scrapbook from the first trip until almost 2 years last, well maybe a little more. I started that one when I booked this trip, that's what started the whole obsession/getting in the Disney mood.

Jojo was so sweet, we had a really nice time with her and Dennis.

Honestly, we sort of passed out for a little bit after we got back to the hotel. I think the rain, being up early, the drinking around the world and the huge lunch/dinner caught up with us. LOL you should have text me we could have hung out!

I think the beer cap was my favorite!!

At least you two didnt let the rain take a damper on your day. Hope tomorrow wont rain on you guys too.

This was actually the only day with real rain. It sprinkled a little bit, but not enough for it to bother us.

Yeah, we hung in for as long as we could, which was till about 5:00 ish. Honestly, I think the drinks helped. Kind of distracted us from the rain, gave us time to fool round in the shops, and being a little tipsy puts everyone in a good mood. :)

We did really like the tequila bar! Nice place to sit and relax, and it was toasty so we welcomed the warm dry place to have a drink.

Subscribing, loving your pictures.

Welcome!! Thanks for stopping by!! The drink around the world was a lot of fun!! And as I said, the rain was annoying, but it didn't stop us and with each passing drink the rain seemed to matter less and less.

Okay guys, been a little MIA this week, so sorry about that. Tomorrow (Monday) I will have day 3, which has a funny story about the street performers at DHS.

Hey lady...let's get going here!!! I have one more update then I'll be reporting about our accidental run-in at HS!!!!
