Tip for today:

My mom called me a little while ago and said Weight Watchers makes some kind of toffee ice cream bar that she bought today. She said they are 2 points and taste exactly like a Heath candy bar. She gives them 2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Now I have to run to the grocery store! ;)

Hey Everyone - For those with ice cream weaknesses (like myself), I am all into the Skinny Cow line. They make ice cream sandwiches, cones (similar to Nutty Buddy), etc. and are 97% fat free!

Also, I'm currently on Buff Brides Week 5 (of the 24 week program) - I missed one week due to being ill but I'm right back in it. My pants feel looser already!

Keep it up girls! :)

Okay, so I'm taking a break from going to the gym today. :guilty:
I also went for a tasting at my wedding reception site! Oh! The food was sooooooooooo goooooooood! And the chef really was genuinely excited to create some interesting vegetarian dishes for us. It's gonna be an all vegetarian menu. We had a private room with a table all dressed up for us, and the chef came in and told us how much he enjoyed changing the regular menu for us! :yay: I'm soooo excited!
Okay, so after eating that meal, I won't eat much else today. :guilty:

I feel good today, ladies!! :cheer2: I did great with my eating today (only one Hershey's kiss! :p ) and I'm actually looking forward to putting in my 45 minutes at the gym today!! :woohoo: I'm trying hard not to weigh myself excessively but after 2 weeks of going to the gym, I have a better attitude! Maybe in a week or so I'll ramp up my gym visits to four times a week!! Tomorrow's going to be tough though - friends are going to my absolute favorite pizza place for dinner. Can I limit myself to only two slices?? :confused3 Maybe I'll start with a salad appetizer to fill myself up. :thumbsup2 But for sure I'll have to make up by going to the gym Saturday.

Great job, everybody and good luck!

~LJ
(one Hershey's kiss is only 25 calories by the way. If you let it melt in your mouth you can savor it!)

Hello Ladies! I'm struggling like everyone else on here. :guilty: I have heard "Buff Brides" many times here, but how does everyone like it? Does it work? How does it work? My wedding is nearly 3 and a half months away...and I'm panicking with 15 lbs more to lose! I need HELP! :confused3
Thanks for starting this thread because its exactly what I need to stay focused on dieting. I have a history, not a good one either. I was bulimic for 2 years before my fiance and I were together. He knows about my previous disorder because he caught me doing it again a few weeks ago. I'm trying very hard not to get into the habit again, but its very hard. Any advice you ladies could give would be so great. Thanks everyone! ~Jess

Good Morning Girls!
Im off to get blood work and then work out!
Its friday - my biggest mistake in being healthy is being great all week and they drinking and 'allowing' myself delicious delights on the weekends - not so good! But this weekend - im gunna stick to the plan.
How does everyone feel after being involved in this buddy system all week?

Jess Hooper! You can do it! :woohoo:

Actually, I'm usually the most successful when I do 6 days on, 1 day off. It keeps your body from pleateauing, and it gives you a day to look to in moments of weakness. I found that I would really want chocolate cake and I would just tell myself that I could have it on Saturday. Then when Saturday came, I often didn't even want it anymore. It just gave me that peace, at the moment I wanted it, to know that I could have it just not that day. As long as you don't go  on your off day, it helps a lot! Especially in the initial stages when it's the most difficult to 'be good.'

I gained a ton of weight during my pregnancy, pre-pregnancy I was only 135 lbs. and had really good muscle tone because I worked out a lot, as a cheerleader in high school and college. I had to stop mourning the loss of my figure because it was depressing me and I would lose the drive to do anything; And start looking toward what I wanted.

Right now, I need to lose 50 lbs. before May 2007. I just bought a treadmill from Nordic Track, since I can't get out to the gym as often as I like. But, I do lose track of time, when I'm entertained, so I purchased the treadmill with the flat screen tv, so I can watch cable and dvd on it :) I lost 25 lbs, earlier this year, but I really need to get a move on things. I lost a lot of my weight on the treadmill and have a membership at a Karate dojo, so I do kickboxing, as well (which I have found it's great for toning, not so much weight loss) :yay:

My treadmill should be here in about 2 weeks, so until then, I will continue to cut my calories and use my ablounge. As for dieting, I have changed everything. In order to be sure about my calories, I eat those Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisine frozen meals. I eat the Lean Cuisine panini's or pizza for lunch and have Weight Watchers meal for dinner. Plus, WW has desserts!!! So, I can even spoil myself, especially, since I'm a huge dessert person :)

Can I ask how you girls are fitting in hours of gym time a day with working and wedding planning and trying not to go crazy? I have a 8-5 job which would seem like I'd have a lot of time for the gym but take an hour to an hour and a half for dinner, undwinding and the clean up and now we are at 7, still have wedding invites to put together, a database to update, fielding calls from mothers and Fmil's, hotgluing ribbon, now its 9 or 930 and though my gym is open till 11, getting to bed at 12 and up again at 6 just isn't enough sleep for me to function. I'm not a morning person so waking up at 5 to be at the gym by 6 is definately not an option. I'm so stressed about finding time to excerise!!

My FI did buy me a total yoga dvd routine to do at home but its still hard to fit that in!!! :( feeling like I'm loosing the battle.

DisneyDoll just take it slow....it doesnt have to be an hour at the gym...
walk around the neighborhood, or just use some hand weights ....
I know days that i feel stressed...I go home and sit on my sofa...but I have one of those Nike workout bands and while i'm sitting there i just wrap it around the feet and stretch....every little bit helps.....

Well - I am a teacher - so I have summers off!
Although right now we are closing on a house ( today) selling our house - so it is a bit crazy this summer.
During the school year I take a spinning class at 6 am - its an hour, and even when I am tired and dont want to be there, I feel stupid leaving the class so I stay.. its the only way I can ensure a full hour of cardio ;)

Just a little tip for you snakcers out there!! I am a paralegal so I am at my computer most of the day, and when I am there I tend to munch, munch, munch!!!

So, anytime I need to munch on something, I grab a stick of gum. Low calories, no fat, and great to keep my mouth moving on something besides Cheetos or Snickers!

Just an idea!! :cool1:

Hey! We're selling our house this summer too! We're in the process of closing next week! And on top of that, while we are currently living in California (that's where I'm from), the house we are selling is in New Jersey (that's where my fiance is from). It's been incredibly stressful to sell this house from such a distance :furious: ...and moving/driving his belongings from NJ to CA was...blah! And we've had to go back a couple of times to clean out the house, and fix some stuff up. I'm glad it will all be over soon.

Anyway, I wish everyone luck today! :thumbsup2

Hi guys!!! Wooohoooooo :cool1: I got my Buff Brides book yesterday!!! I read through it and it makes great sense!! I have worked out before and the best I looked was 3 years ago... I know if I did it once, I can do it again! ::yes::

I am so glad to hear everyone is getting something out of this post!! I'm glad y'all started it!! :woohoo: It helps to keep me motivated. My best friend gave me a DVD she used while she was getting in shape for her wedding and it is great also. It seems to incorporate many of the ideas from the Buff Brides book into her DVD. I'll check the name when I go home and post it. Might be an option for some of you who would rather work out to a video. :thumbsup2

JessHooper - don't give up on yourself. And don't fall back into unhealthy habits, especially ones that could potentially harm you beyond repair. Start your marriage off postively... with the help of this board and I'm sure with the support of your DF, you can do this. Sometimes it's not about the weight, it's about the way you look. ::yes:: and if you start working out on a regular basis and watching what you eat - not cutting everything out, just smaller desserts maybe... you'll notice your clothes fitting better if not getting a bit on the loose side. Give it a try and when you get discouraged, look us up. There's always someone on here to listen. :thumbsup2 And you can always PM me if you want to chat. :goodvibes

Everyone, keep up the good work!!!

Whilykit - hope your bloodwork goes well..

Everyone - I am off to Disney tomorrow afternoon!!! I have my planning session on Tuesday!!! :woohoo: :cool1: wooohoooo!!! Oh yeah!!!! I'm excited!!!

After listening to everyone, I am picking up my buff brides book today!! :thumbsup2

Happy - YeeHAw!! have a disneytastic time! :cool1: I want to hear about all the yummy food you tasted!

I didnt workout today - the closing went well - but I painted for about 5 hours.. does that count? :Pinkbounc This is me right now... I should be exhausted, but I am just thrilled!

Hope everyone had a great healthy day - lets do it again tomorrow!

lindajoan- You will love WW if you try it!! Have you tried the Hersheys sugar free chocolate? i know it's not the same but it is still satisfying when you need chocolate. :thumbsup2 Also, you are a very strong woman to only eat 1 hershey kiss :) if i start i know i would kill the bag :rotfl:

happylalagirl- I am so excited for you :Pinkbounc Have a great time at your planning session. Can't wait to hear how it goes

Oh no, I had a food relapse today!! A group of friends went out for the best pizza in Los Angeles (this is a big deal if you know how terrible LA pizza is! :p ). I started with a salad to curb my appetite but that didn't stop me! I had three slices AND canolli for dessert. Oh no! :guilty: I just wanted to "confess". It's definitely off to the gym tomorrow morning but I had been so excited to see the scale mark the fifteen pounds lost this morning. Then I weighed myself right after dinner (big mistake!) and I had gained 5 pounds!! I'll add gym on Sunday too! I'd much prefer going to the gym because I enjoy it and not because I have to compensate for overeating. Grrr!

How do you deal with special occassion eating out? It's not so bad when I'm making my meals at home and for work but I can't seem to control myself in social situations. :sad2: What's a girl to do? :confused3

Hope it's going better for you gals!

I don't if anyone else on here has ever heard this, but I have always been told to weigh myself first thing in the morning, (gross as it sounds) right after I go to the bathroom. Someone once told me that is when you have your "true weight". Can anyone else verify this?

lindajoan, don't worry about the relapse - I think everyone can say they've had a "little" relapse at some point. For me, the weakness is popcorn:: - once I make a bag, I can't stop eating it! I have gotten much better as I now only buy the Pop Secret or Orville Reddenbacher 100 calorie snack bags, but every now and then, when I go home to visit my family, I forget to bring my own along and all anyone else has is Pop Secret HomeStyle or Movie Theater Butter.

Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend! :wave2:
